Revival in Pictures - South Mission, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma

We enjoyed all of the food, fun and fellowship at South Mission Holiness Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma this week... Oh, and we had super great services too! Lol

God really did bless in the services and I am so thankful for it. These folks responded so good in the altar services and I believe that many received the help of God that they needed.

I appreciate Pastor Leon Rich inviting to be at South Mission again. Bro. Rich's family and folks are so very kind to us and always seem interested in pushing toward real revival. We have had a great time and we look forward to seeing every one again soon.

I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

God bless you all.

Dorcas in Nigeria

Please read yesterday's post marking 10 consecutive years on the road.

During our trip to Nigeria in 2009 Bro. Shobanke invited us to preach a Gospel Crusade next to his church in Abeokuta. One night I gave the altar call and a young lady literally drug herself from her seat to the altar. By the time she made it to the altar I was down on my hands and knees to meet her. My heart was bursting and tears were flowing as she worked so hard to make her way to Christ.

Dorcas gave her heart to God that night and He gloriously saved her. That night was one of the highlights of the year in 2009. I know the many things that Odie struggles with in a nation that is so accessible for a handicapped person as the USA is. So many things are made easier for her yet life is still very difficult for Odie. I can not even imagine all of the obstacles that Dorcas must overcome every day in Nigeria. No ramps, no lifts, no bars to grab and not even very many smooth places that are accessible to a wheel chair.

But the message of the Gospel touched her heart that night and from 50-60 feet away Dorcas drug her body to the altar seeking for Jesus! Wow! It gets me right in the chest and my tears begin to fall writing about it over 3 years later. It was an emotional experience that I will probably never forget. Praise God for reaching out to Dorcas and praise God that she responded.

It was with great joy that we discovered on our recent trip that Dorcas is still serving the Lord. She is living on the church grounds and serves the Lord and His people in what ever way she can. We visited with her during our stay and one day during the minister's conference we took some pictures and recorded a little video for Odie.

Please pray for Dorcas. I am sure she faces challenges every day that would stop many of us in our tracks. I know she needs the strength of God. Praise God for saving and keeping this beautiful young lady.

10 Years of Evangelism - Boggs Family Ministries

We evangelized for 2 1/2 years in the early 90s but January 2013 marks the conclusion of 10 consecutive years of evangelism for our family. We give God the glory for keeping us on the road. There are people that have been on the road for many more years but it is a Mile Marker worth mentioning in our little family.

The great people of Wichita, Kansas took a chance on me in 1999 and invited me to be their Pastor. I do not know what they were thinking but I am so glad they extended that invitation. We were there nearly 4 years and it was some of the very best years of our life.

Sunday morning January 5, 2003 was our last service as Pastor at New Horizon Holiness Church in Wichita, Kansas. We had four revivals scheduled over that whole year and we really had no idea what we were going to do. I knew the Lord had asked me to leave Wichita but beyond that I really did not have a clue.

We started that night preaching the first two nights of a revival for Mt.Vernon Holiness Church in Oklahoma City for Pastor Rickey Searcy and then began revival on Wednesday January 8th for Pastor James Fellers in Weir Kansas.

As we went to the pulpit that first night of revival in Weir, Kansas, God began to do a work in our whole family. The Holy Ghost moved so strongly that somehow we knew life on the road of evangelism was for us. With four revivals scheduled over several months and nothing to do with the rest of the time we set out to evangelize and watched in amazement as God opened doors we could not have dreamed would open.

I had committed to helping Pastor Chris Whiffen and his church in Florida for a few weeks while he was down with a surgery. We preached revivals every week until we went to Florida in March and by the time we pulled out of Haines City, Florida our schedule for 2003 was nearly full.

God fulfilled the prophecy He had given me in August of 1994 at Dryden Rd. campmeeting through Bro. John Gabbard. Bro. Gabbard told me the things I must do and then he said, "I will open doors that no man can shut and I will shut doors that no man can open." Folks, at that moment those words were absolutely humanly impossible. But God kept His word. It has been amazing to watch Him do it. I have not tried to open one door in these 10 years. I have not called one pastor and asked him if I could have a revival. God has opened every door and by God's grace we have stayed on the road working for him.

We have been blessed to preach in 159 different churches in these 10 years and we have sang in many, many more. Many churches we have preached in nearly every year that we have been on the road. Because of the kindness of these many Pastors we have been blessed to watch children grow and families mature in the Lord. God opened the doors and we just walked in. We have preached in 18 different churches in Alabama, 23 different churches in Kentucky and 25 different churches in Oklahoma. They rest of the churches we have preached in are in nearly 30 states scattered across the country.

We have been blessed to see folks saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost. We have watched God transform the lives of unbelievers when they came to him. We have seen believers strengthened and renewed in their walk with Christ and churches encouraged to keep the faith. We have stood in amazement as God has healed people and made them completely whole. We give God all of the glory and honor for all of his work.

The first 15 months on the road we lived in 1984 Hitchhiker fifth wheel that we had purchased while we were pastoring in Wichita. That little trailer was a great blessing. We pulled it nearly 35,000 miles in that time period. It would not have held together much longer at that pace but it was still in great shape for somebody to use as a weekend camper.

In late March of 2004 we moved into a new fifth wheel we had ordered. We ordered it special with two bedrooms and a full bathroom for Odie. Pastor Herman Woods raised the money from about 20 churches to have a lift installed on that trailer and it was such a wonderful blessing.

We lived and traveled in the Kountry Star for four years almost to the day. We pulled it right at 100,000 miles. It was a great trailer and the only thing we have ever owned with slides. It certainly gave us great service and was still in very good shape when we sold it.

In March of 2008 we purchased the BoggsMobile and moved in a week or so later. Bro. Kurt and Sis. Angie McCrorey had helped us move from the Hitchhiker to the Kountry Star in Weir, Kansas in 2004. In 2008 they drove to Richton, Mississippi and helped us move it all into the BoggsMobile. We could not have done it without them.

Here is an interesting fact. We have lived in the BoggsMobile longer that we have anything else since we left our parents homes and married. The next longest place we have lived was the Kountry Star fifth wheel.

Our life has been one adventure after another the last 10 years. We have gone places, preached in churches and experienced God in ways we never thought possible. We have become acquainted with so many preachers and churches that have become a permanent part of our lives. I can not imagine life without many of the close friends that have become so special in our hearts since we have been on the road.

God has been so good to us these last 10 years. We thank God that He has placed us in the ministry, allowed us to work among such good people, enabled us to carry the burden for lost souls and needy churches and strategically positioned us in His church to be used by Him. There is no way I could have imagined it all. There is no way I could have planned it all. It has been the grace of God and we are so very thankful for it.

Who saw hundreds of revivals in our future? Who saw youth rallys, campmeetings, homecomings and tent revivals in our future? Who saw the souls that would be saved and the lives that would be touched. Who saw Nigeria and the doors God has opened for us there? Who would have dreamed that God would use our family to help and encourage others to the extent that He has. I could not see all that? Did you see that? There were a few men that believed in us and kept telling us we were destined to be evangelists. But even they have underestimated the grace of God working in our lives. It has all been God. I repeat it emphatically, it has all been God.

What do the next 10 years hold? I would be crazy to even guess. God has promised us enough light for the next step and I have learned to trust Him to order those steps and guide us to the proper place even though we can not see the big picture. We do not have to see the big picture since God can see it fine from where He sits. We are content to preach this revival and then move on to the next revival and then move on to the next and try to follow Christ as He leads.

We have more years of evangelism planned. We have more tent revivals planned. We would like to continue working in Nigeria. We would like to walk through open doors in Europe and other countries. There are avenues of evangelism right here in America that I have been praying about for years. I can imagine God is going to bring some of that to pass.

But God could surprise me with a totally new direction. That is God's prerogative, in fact my prayer for 2013 is, "Surprise me God." I do not expect God to change our direction in ministry but if I expected it then it would not be a surprise. God has the right to do anything He wants with Boggs Family Ministries and I expect He will.

If God allows us to continue in evangelism we do have some plans. We are shifting our strategy just a little bit. For years we have ran as long as we can and as fast as we can, singing and preaching and driving as much as we can. We have planned little breaks through the years here and there but honestly I have not been good at saying no. I have not been good at preserving our strength for the long haul. I have done well at times but not consistently.

The enormous work load of tent revivals has caused me to rethink that. In many ways 2012 was the most strenuous year of the last 10 but the effect of that was mitigated some little rest periods I had scheduled along the way. If God is going to keep us on the road then that is a change that must become permanent. That is a hard one for me because I love to preach. I love to go. I am a work in progress. I am learning. Two years of tent revivals have taught me a bunch.

I am also scheduling some revivals to start on Wednesday and run through Sunday. We will still have 6 services for revival but we will have a day to travel and a day to rest. Going Sunday through Friday and traveling on Saturday for 25 weeks or more in a row can make an old man. So we are trying this change for several weeks this year to see if it helps.

We would also like to buy a piece of property near home and build a place to park the bus with the intention of preparing a living quarters in the future. We would like to build a small place for Odie with all the accessibility that she needs. All of this would require a miracle but we leave all of that in God's hands. We are seeking His will and trusting Him to guide.

Beyond that we are determined to press on and win as many people to Christ as we can and encourage as many Christians as we can. Thank you for praying for us and we ask that you continue to pray for us.

Thanks to all of you that made this wild ride possible. I hope you are ready for a few more years of fun!

Odie has been working hard to gather pictures of the last 10 years including the ones above. I will be posting some pictures over the next week that she has found from 2003 until now. I hope you enjoy the pictures. Do not forget to leave us a comment.

Mission Report by Pastor E. Ade Shobanke

Yesterday we posted our review of 2012. This post is a report of our Nigeria trip sent by Pastor Shobanke.

REPORT OF EVANGELIST DAVY AND KELLY BOGGS’ MISSION WORK IN NIGERIA: 29TH NOVEMBER TO 10TH DECEMBER, 2012
by Pastor E. Ade Shobanke

Greetings to my Brothers and Sisters in the USA,

Evangelist Davy Boggs, his wife Sister Kelly and Brother Gary Lockwood arrived in Nigeria on Thursday 29th November 2012. They were warmly welcome by Christ Ambassadors Holiness Church to Nigeria.

Brother Boggs preached  a 1-day revival in each of my two church branches in Abeokuta. God mightily touched many lives on Friday 30th and Saturday 1st December 2012 in each of the branches.
On Sunday 2nd December 2012, he preached in my main church and the whole congregation was richly blessed.

We conducted a 3-day gospel crusade at the frontage of our new church at Osara Road, Gbonogun, Abeokuta, Nigeria from Sunday 2nd through Tuesday 4th December 2012. Brother Boggs preached the gospel of power in the 3-day crusade. People came forward to the altar and prayed through. Many souls were saved and some received healing. One policeman testified to Brother Boggs of his salvation.

Before we started the crusade, we were not prepared to start service at the new church. But the last day of the crusade I announced the starting of church service the following Sunday. I did that by faith in God. Why? The church building was not yet completed, no doors, no windows, no ceiling, no electricity and there were no chairs for people to sit.

Praise the Lord, on Thursday 6th December, 2012, God used Bro. Davy Boggs and his ministry to buy sixty(60) chairs for the new church. The second miracle was that God used Bro. Boggs and Bro. Lockwood to give us $800.00 to complete the office of the church to keep the chairs and other equipment secure after each service.

The first service in the new church branch was made possible by God on Sunday 9th December, 2012. Praise the Lord. Twenty-seven (27) newly converted souls from the 3-day crusade attended the first service. There were Forty-six (46) total in attendance. The first Bible study on Tuesday had Thirty-five (35) there.

The Ministers Conference was held from Thursday 6th through Saturday 8th December at our main church. Ministers and Christian Workers from different denominations atttended. Many came and prayed through at the altar after each day.

On Sunday 9th December 2012, we traveled to Ibadan, Oyo State of Nigeria and Bro. Boggs preached at Landmark Christ Mission, Bro Kuye’s Church. The people were richly blessed.

The last day of his visit, they visited our christian school. He preached and prayed for the pupils and staff of the school.

We appreciate God for using Bro Boggs to start the first service with 27 new converts from the 3-day Gospel Crusade. I appreciate Evangelist Davy & Sis. Kelly Boggs and Bro. Gary Lockwood for their visit to Nigeria.

Thank you, we are praying for you.

Yours in Christ
Pastor E. Ade Shobanke

2012 in Review

2012 was a fun and exciting year. Our first revival of the year was in Blair, Oklahoma and our last revival before going to Nigeria and then home for Christmas was in El Mirage, Arizona. We ended the year in Neosho, Missouri and we went a lot of great places in between. God kept us safe every mile of the way.

God blessed us with some great revivals and we praise God for it. We saw many saved, healed and delivered by the power of Christ and we give Him all the glory. Every tent revival was good and we saw many souls touched in those services too. I will probably do a post soon on tent revivals last year.

All three of us made it through 2012 in fine shape physically. We all had some sickness and some aches and pains but we are very thankful that we are for the most part very healthy. Even in sickness God has been faithful to be our comfort, help and healer.

The best I could count we traveled through or to 21 states and 4 foreign countries in 2012. Plus Odie traveled to the Bahamas on her gospel singing cruise. I may have missed a state or two but 21 is close. That is not the most we have been to in a year but it was a pretty good loop. I am working on a post with maps of our route like I did for 2011. Maybe I can get that up soon. I tried doing a map of the whole year of travels and I think I shut Google maps down for a day or two!

The route in 2012 included such far flung states as Montana, Arizona and Florida but we did not make it to California. It was the first year in a long time that we did not make it to California and it does not look like we will make it this year. But we have plans to visit again in 2014 by God's grace.

We were in well over 300 services during the year and sang and preached almost 300 times. We were in a few less services than normal this year because Kelly Jo and I took two weeks and three weekends off in a row to rest up and gear up for tent revival season. We have never done that before but we have determined we will do it again. In the middle of tent revivals we felt the strength and benefit of that time of rest. It was one of the smartest things I have ever done.

The BoggsMobile and our other cars did good this year. We drove the General until March and then sold it. We bought the Green Machine in May and we love the gas mileage.

We had some episodes of mechanical trouble, repairs, and even some down time on the side of the road. But what is life without a little excitement right? I am certainly NOT desiring ANY more of that but I can see where God was guiding and helping every step of the way.

We drove the bus almost 15,000 miles and drove the General and the Green Machine a whole bunch more. We spent way more than ever on gas and diesel and it would have been even more. Two families had purchased a tank of diesel each early in the year. One of those was almost $500 and the other was over $600. That was a tremendous blessing.

Thanks for hanging with us on the blog this year. I know that many of you read every day and that means a lot to us. Many of you tell us you check in on us through the blog and then you pray for us and we really appreciate that. God bless you for being concerned about our family and ministry.

We are already experiencing good things in 2013 and we are looking for God to guide every step of the way. We are pretty much scheduled all the way through the year and it is shaping up to be pretty busy, just how we like it.

We hope you join us here every day and please remember we love to hear from you. Leave comments and let us know what you think about each post.

May God bless you in 2013.

Davy

Welcome Back to Ron's

Welcome back to Ron's Hamburgers and Chili. Regular readers will remember my many previous posts about Ron's. We are only here for one week so Kelly Jo and I went today. It was as good as ever!

We needed to stop at Staples and Northern Tool so we went to one of my favorite locations at 71st and Mingo. Our other favorite is in Sand Springs. I have heard there in one close to where we are parked so I need to try it sometime.

The pictures below are not of the Double Big Daddy. This time I ordered the Who's Your Daddy? Wow! You talk about a great cheeseburger. It was terrific!

I probably will not be back in Ron's country until late August so we may try to run by Ron's again before we leave on Saturday. I hate to squander a good opportunity.

Greasy and Cheesy is my life motto!

Hope you enjoy the pictures.
