Odie’s Vacation Recap Day 2

Hey Friends,

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope your week is off to a great start. Here in Ohio, it is frigid and cold once again. Below is a picture that Mom took out my window yesterday afternoon.

Personally I am ready for sunshine and warmer weather! so let's rewind a few weeks. This is day two of my 2025 vacation, Which, as you can tell, was dedicated to good food and R&R!

We had two places that we wanted to order from again. In 2024 we ordered for 407 Cafe. They have excellent crepes and coffees. Also, we had dinner from a local Italian place in Orlando

407 Cafe was a must this year!

We repeated both restaurants for 2025! Oh my word it was so good!

Most of the day we stayed in our room. I didn't take pictures when we were resting.

In the afternoon we ventured out to explore the hotel. Hyatt Place near MCO was a great place for a pre-cruise stay!

After dinner we went outside to enjoy a some warm weather. There was no where to sit out there. We did take some pictures.

I was thrilled to see real palm trees!

That wraps up day 2 of vacation. Next vacation recap post, we will get to Singing At Sea 2025.

PSA

Singing At Sea 2026 is selling out quickly. Next year is the 50th anniversary cruise. It will take place January 26-31.

If you are interested in going next year contact Templeton Tours soon. Click here to see more information.

Sunday Sanity 2/16/25

 Hey Friends,

Thanks for joining us on Sunday! Welcome if you are new to Boggs Blogs! My regular readers know that we have shared a Sunday Sanity here most Sundays for several years.

Sanity was something my Dad started, and I have carried on. A while back, I found a page where Dad had saved some sanity possibilities. I have not researched them all yet to see if he has used any of them in the past. I did search for the one that I'm using today. I did not see it posted here.

I thought this was a good nugget to leave you with for today.

“For where God would build a church, the devil would also build a chapel”

I hope you have a great Sunday! Thanks for reading!

Valentine’s Day 2025 Recap

 Hey Friends,

Welcome to another Saturday post with me, Odie! Thank you for dropping in.

First, I want to thank all of you who reached out to Mom and me yesterday on Valentine's Day. We appreciate your extra thoughtfulness and care for us! The calls, texts, surprise gifts and cards were so sweet and special! We definitely felt loved!

We were blessed with a wonderful day! I can say, for a fact, God's strength was with us every moment! We spent some time with my Mamaw and Papaw.

Thankfully, we were able to mark something big off of our to-do list that has been there for three months. We will tell you more about it in the future.

Then Papaw treated us to a great Valentine’s Day lunch at a family, favorite,Skyline.  below our pictures of mine and my Mom's meals.

Mamaw shared a pumpkin pie with us. Pumpkin is my favorite kind of pie and hers are the best! Sadly, I forgot to take a picture of the pie! Believe me, it was delicious!

We finished out the day with church. It was Youth Rally night at DRPC.  It was so good to see many people from our area fellowship join us for the service.

Also, Friday was the last night of our services with, Bro. Josh Smith. Bro. Josh, preached excellent all week! It was wonderful to see him and his family again. We love The Smith Family!

The revival was really good! All four nights the altar services were wonderful! Last night was the icing on the cake! The Holy Ghost moved in a mighty way! It was a great blessing to feel the Spirit of God, so close to us!

Let's just say, I went to bed last night feasting on Friday’s service! My heart is overflowing with joy and praise for our mighty God! What a blessing to be His child! God’s love for us is amazing, and never ceases to leave me in wonder!

Thanks for reading! I look forward to seeing you next time.

Foodie Friday 2/14/25

 Hey Friends,

Happy Valentine’s Day! We truly love all of our friends and are thankful to have you in our lives!

Today, we do miss Daddy very dearly! He was the best Valentine!

Most of the time when Dad gave a gift on his own, it was cash. Who doesn't love cash?

He was not a shopper, so it was always special when Daddy would do something to show us his love! When he gave me a gift, I always cherished it a little extra.

Today, one Valentine's memory comes to my mind: We were in Foley, Alabama. He got up early one morning and slipped out of the bus before Mom and I were awake.

He had ordered us to sleep a little extra that day. When we woke, he had come home with food and “real” Yeti 30 oz tumblers for Mom and me.

We were supposed to be on a diet, but he had filled the cups full of chocolates! It made my day! I will have to use that cup today.

Some of my best memories of Dad were enjoying great meals! We had our favorite places to eat across the nation. We would dream about some of those for months before our schedule led us in that direction again.

One such restaurant we stumbled upon in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It is called El Magay, Mexican Buffet. this was a regular stop on our route, even if we had to manipulate the route to get us there. El Magey was our favorite Mexican buffet!

I thought it was fitting to share this video again today. Dad originally recorded and posted this video in February 2022.

It makes for a good Foodie Friday post. The video brings back lots of great memories! I hope you enjoy it! Just remember, the food tasted even better than it looks!

See you next time.

Throwback Thursday 2/13/25

 Hey Friends,

Thank you for joining me for Throwback Thursday! For today's installment, I have one of my favorite memories! This one actually comes with a video clip.

I hope you enjoy watching the video. Then, I will tell you the rest of the story.

Several years ago, we were in Alabama. We had spent the day around Mobile spending time with friends.

Dad and Bro. Scott Morris were in rare form that day. I literally thought they were gonna get us kicked out of Dirt Cheap store with their crazy antics! It was hilarious!

I had just been given my first wheelchair scooter. I was learning how to use it. Dad decided to take the seat off and have a little fun. This is where wheelchair surfing was born!

We all laughed until we hurt and cried! It was hilarious! A police officer was circling the parking lot, keeping a close eye on us. I am not sure what he thought was going on!

I know this video quality is not the best. But we were all laughing too hard to worry about video quality in the moment.

Oh, I am so glad that we captured this moment! Dad, thank you for the great memory! You were always the life of the party! I love your sense of humor. Thank you for teaching me to laugh and love life!

Bro. Scott pulled this out of the archives in November and we have all laughed over this several times!

Thank you for reading. I hope this throwback moment brought a smile to your face!

Odie’s Vacation Travel To Florida 2025

 Hey Friends,

I hope you are having a great day! Thank you for stopping by. As most of you know, I was on vacation from January 25 through February 1. I have been looking forward to this vacation for a year! I love every time that I get to go on the Singing At Sea cruise. This was my sixth time going on this particular cruise since 2012.

This was my second year sailing out of Port Canaveral, Florida! Once again, the ship was the Carnival Freedom, and the cruise set sail on January 27.

Let’s begin the vacation recap posts. I will spread my recaps into several posts so as not to overload you with pictures. Several people told me last year they would like me to break it up into more posts. I had some people told me they wanted vacation to last longer next year lol.

Before getting to the cruise part of a vacation, we must travel to Florida first. We also had a two night pre-cruise day in Orlando, Florida.

Thank you to my Mom, Mamaw and Papaw for making sure I made it safely to the airport in Cincinnati. It is just shy of an hour from my house to the airport. We had a smooth drive that Saturday afternoon.

Of course, we had to stop for food along the way. I chose Chick-fil-A for a good start to the vacation food! Sadly, I forgot to get any pictures of that meal. Food is an excellent highlight of every vacation in my book!

Soon, it was time to bid everyone goodbye. I feel like once I make it through security and safely to my gate to wait on the plane, vacation can officially begin.

This year I was able to have straight though flights to and from vacation. I am used to flying with a layover and I can navigate airports well. But it is nice not having to do it very much! Thankfully, all of my flights were excellent! No delays, smooth flying and great weather!

Once I arrived in Orlando, I retrieved my baggage, and then met up with my travel companion for the week!  It was so great to see my wonderful friend and Nicole Estes once again! We had not actually seen each other since vacation last year.

Our flight schedules worked out to where we arrived near the same time. We were able to meet up at baggage claim. Then catch the hotel shuttle together. It all really worked out great!

Our home for the next two nights was the Hyatt Place near the Orlando airport. We booked the room through Templeton Tours. The staff at the hotel was very helpful and accommodating. They had a wonderful accessible room with two beds, which can be challenging to find.  One great advantage, their airport shuttle was a bus that actually had a handicap lift for my wheelchair.

Once we were checked in and settled into our room. Our first order of business was to find food. Nicole and I both were very hungry after a busy travel day.

We Door Dashed from a local sandwich place. The food was excellent. We made a great choice on that first vacation meal together. We may have to try it again next time. There were so many good looking things on the menu it was hard to choose.

After dinner we started preparing for bed. We were excited to catch up in person, so it took a while for us to get to sleep mode.

The travel day was behind us. The next day was dedicated to R&R and food lol! I will have more on that in the next vacation post.

Sunday Sanity 2/9/25

 Hey Friends,

Thanks for stopping by for a moment on Sunday. Today’s sanity comes straight from the word of God. There is no better place to look for a word of encouragement.

A friend sent me this verse a while back. It encourage my heart that day, and I have looked back on it several times since. It is a comfort to know that we can find refuge and confidence In the Lord!

Foodie Friday 2/7/25

 Hey Friends,

Thanks for joining me for Foodie Friday. This week, we visited one of our favorite places a couple of times. Can you guess where?

Ding ding ding, you got it right! Alcapulco is the correct answer.

We love their salsa, food and our friends that work there! Remembering Dad’s love for Alcapulco when we go there feels good!

On Tuesday, we had lunch with our cousins Teresa and Trinity. We had been trying to get together for a while, and thankfully, it worked out this time. We had a great lunch and visit with them!

Thursday we were out running an errand with Mamaw and Papaw. Somehow our car sensed we were hungry, and the navigation took us to Alcapulco.

Sorry not sorry for your sudden craving of good mexican food! 🤣 The food tasted even better than it looked!

Thanks for reading see you next time.

Throwback Thursday 2/6/25

 Hey Friends,

Thank you for dropping in today. It is once again Throwback Thursday. We appreciate your visit!

Today, we have a picture from Sis. Ann Gabbard. She found this photo recently and sent it to me. I thought it was a good one for this segment of the blog.

I believe this was taken October 2004 or 2005. I know it  was taken during the Bond Campmeeting.

Thanks, Sis. Ann, for this memory! We love you all!

See you next time.

A Peaceful View

 Hey Friends,

Great to visit with you for a second. Mom has been running her legs off, and I have been rolling my wheels off the last few days.

We are doing good just been trying to get stuff done. There is always something to be accomplished. We have taken advantage of better weather this week to be out and about.

I have not had the time or brainpower to edit and choose vacation pics to share. That will come, I promise!

I will leave you with one photo for today. This is a view that brings me peace!

See you tomorrow.

A New Set Of ComfyGo Wheels

 Hey Friends,

I hope you are having a great day. Thank you for stopping by today.

Most of you know that I use a wheelchair to get from one place to another. I regularly use both a power chair and a manual chair. I have a chair that is my house chair and a power chair that is my travel chair.

That chair has been a scooter that pops apart for transportation for years. Last year, I started using a foldable power chair that was still quite heavy. We needed two people to load it into our car, and Mom and I could not do it together.

In late December, I received an email from a great company that I have done business with in the past. Marc’s Mobility was debuting a brand new chair. Their advertising worked, and my interest peeked instantly!

I called Mom in the room to see The New Phoenix by ComfyGo. We were both amazed that the chair folded easily. It weighs 30 lbs without batteries and 36.5 with the batteries in the unit. It has two lithium batteries and is approved for travel by airline, cruise, bus and train.

The chair is made of carbon fiber, which makes it lighter. That makes it much easier to load and unload. We would be inclined to use the power chair if it was easier on Mom.

We decided to purchase it from Marc’s. I ordered on December 31st. My contact, Sal, was great to work with and so helpful! I love working with Marc’s Mobility. They are honest, helpful, and a breath of fresh air!

Soon after I placed the order, a ComfyGo Rep contacted me personally to confirm it. Jay has also been incredible to work with. I am super impressed with the customer service.

Due to holidays and weather, the chair took several days to arrive. I could not wait another day, so I called around until I found its location. We went to our local FedEx station and picked up the box. I was excited to get the chair and try it out!

So far we love it! We have used it a lot! It is really Comfy and helps me Go easily! I am a rolling Phoenix ComfyGo billboard. I have had multiple people stop me asking for information on the chair and take pictures!

I took “Phoenix” last week on vacation. I was able to navigate airports, shuttles, a hotel, cruise terminal, ship and ports of call much easier! The turning radiusis incredible. The chair traveled great.

I easily took both batteries out, put them in a bag and carried them to my airplane seats. All lithium batteries must be removed before boarding the plane. The chair folded nicely and fit in a closet on that particular plane. The flight attendants loved the ease of fixing the chair! They were amazed!

Most days of my trip I only used one battery. We were on the go all day too! I would charge the battery at night. At the start of the day I would have 2 full batteries. I would flip the switch daily to alternate batteries.

FYI you must flip a switch on the chair to insure a battery is charging. The batteries do not charge simultaneously. You have to flip the switch to the next battery when it is time for it to charge. If the switch is left in the middle all power to the unit is off, and the batteries will not charge.

Here are some pictures, where you can see my chair in action. I am extremely pleased with my purchase! Looking forward to many adventures ahead with “Phoenix”!

See you tomorrow.
