Pray For Bro. and Sis. Landress

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in from Ohio. I hope you are having a good Tuesday.

My parents are doing well. I am thrilled they are getting some needed Rest and Relaxation! This means you are stuck with my updates more than usual.

Dad does have several posts scheduled. There will be a Word For Wednesday tomorrow from him. He may decide to pop in from time to time. Yesterday's post from Dad was great. He shared an interesting video. Did you know a ladder can walk? Check it out here.

Today I come to you with a heavy but thankful heart. Our dear friends, Bro. Larry and Sis. Rosemary Landress needs prayer! Many of you are probably already joining us in praying for them.

Bro. and Sis. Landress are missionaries to Mexico. Providing good Spanish Bibles for their ministry and other missionaries is a big part of their ministry, Holiness In Mexico.

Friday Morning, they were driving in Texas to pick up Bibles. When their vehicle and box trailer was struck by a delivery truck. All reports let us know that it was a horrible accident! It is a miracle they survived! I thank God for preserving their lives!

Bro. Larry and Sis Rosemary both experienced horrible injuries. They have had extensive surgeries to repair their injuries. The road to recovery ahead of them is long!

Here are a few things I am praying for right now. God, please give them both a full, speedy and smooth recovery. Also, I pray for guidance and wisdom for the doctors involved. I pray for all the Landress family that are there on the front lines with them right now.

When we received news of this accident on Friday. It was a fresh reminder of how quickly life can change. I praise God for being there with each of us at all times!

We can not understand when or why bad things happen to those we love. I am resting in the truth that Dad echoes here a lot "God Is In Control!

Thanks for visiting with me today.

Bibles and Travel Day

Bibles

Bro. Larry Landress came across a good deal on KJV presentation Bibles back in December and I had him order five cases for City Reach. I had already sent him the money and yesterday was my chance to run up to Wynnewood, Oklahoma and get them. It is only about an hour and 15 minutes from Gainesville so it was a nice drive in the morning.

Bro. Larry had the Bibles stored at his Bible warehouse and that was my first visit there. Holiness in Mexico has been involved in distributing Bibles for many years and God has opened doors the last few years to print a good version of the Spanish Bible. They have now been instrumental in the printing and distribution of many thousands of good quality Spanish Bibles in many countries. I first wrote about it HERE.

If you would like more information on the great work God is doing through Bro. and Sis. Landress and Holiness In Mexico, I would be very glad to put you in touch with them. I wholeheartedly endorse their mission work and their desire to make good Bibles available in the Spanish speaking world.

I was back in Gainesville by lunch and Kelly Jo went to the Taqueria for some wonderful tacos! Wow!

I had more work to do in the trailer and in the bays of the BoggsMobile so I busied myself with those tasks most of the afternoon. I finished up a big bus project by completing a few minor details as well. I hope to tell you about that in the future.

Travel Day

Kelly Jo and Odie took the Green Machine to the Ft. Worth area to visit some stores and then I followed after dark. Dallas/Ft. Worth traffic can be a mess and I wanted to avoid it as much as possible. Traffic was still heavy from Gainesville all the way down, but it was much better than it would have been even 45 minutes earlier.

There is construction on I-35 near the Ft. Worth loop but I was able to exit north of there and dodge most of the really bad stuff. I arrived at Victory Tabernacle about 8:45 and Kelly Jo and Odie were there to help me get in and parked.

We glad to be back at Victory for Youth Rally tonight and both services Sunday. We will also be looking at City Reach sites the next two days so we should be busy. Please ask God to guide us. I would appreciate it.

Thanks for reading.

Special Prayer Request - Bibles

This is a special post with a prayer request on Thursday. Our regular post was posted early this morning and is HERE.

Bro. Larry Landress sent the following out this morning concerning a major shipment of Spanish Bibles that he ordered and was expecting. Please pray about this and feel free to pass it on to others.

Davy

Yesterday evening I was advised by my forwarding agent that the container of Bibles that we have coming from China has been taken by US immigration by their CET. Contraband Examination Team. They will hold it as long as they want to and open every pallet, case and Bible checking for contraband and it will cost us to repackage them. This is a full container that was sealed by the Chinese government in Shanghai and has not been opened until now. Help us pray. These Bibles are already 2 weeks late and we have pastors and other missionaries who are waiting for them.

Holiness In Mexico Bible Project

God used Bro. Larry Landress and Holiness in Mexico last year to provide a well built, sturdy yet reasonably priced Bible with a concordance in a reliable translation for the Spanish speaking people. This Bible has been and will continue to be a blessing to several missionary efforts and is a great blessing to the individuals that receive them.

As Bro. Landress was raising money for Bibles last year I knew this needed to be an ongoing project. This is what I wrote then on the blog.

I believe they are making a wise choice to print these Bibles. I believe it enough to put my money where my mouth is. Boggs Family Ministries will be sending an offering for these Bibles. I believe God's people will make up the difference that they need.
I also believe this should be an ongoing thing. Bro. Larry will need at least a few thousand of these each year. Plus there are other missionaries and ministries that could distribute this version combined with the concordance once they know it is available.
It is not that there are no economy Bibles available or very nice leather Bibles available. But as you will read below there is a great need for an inexpensive yet durable study Bible in a reliable version. Bro. Larry is burdened to meet that need.

Bro. Larry has expanded the helps in these Bibles and is ready to order 10,000 more of them. We received a newsletter from Holiness In Mexico this week and I have asked Bro. Landress for permission to publish it here. If you would like to help buy Bibles that would be awesome. You know that I believe in Bro. and Sis. Landress 100%.

Dear Friends,
On one of my very first trips to visit Mexico, Rose and the girls and I prepared ourselves with candy for the children and used clothing for everybody. Here in the USA it is easy to find candies of all kinds on sale cheap and everybody is willing to donate clothing and shoes to the needy. We are such a blessed people here despite all our problems. That hot July day brought a large group of excited children waiting impatiently for the girls to hand out candy and I spread a tarp on the ground and dumped out several large trash bags full of clothing for the women to pick through. I had also found a few Bibles in Spanish at garage sales and thrift stores and they were in a box on a table near by. While children shrieked and laughed over the candy and the mothers picked through the piles of clothing, one elderly lady asked about a Bible. My interpreter directed her to the cardboard box on the table and we continued to watch the fun of the children. I felt so glad to be able to give them a special treat. After a while I noticed that the old lady was still in front of the box of Bibles. I went to her with my interpreter and asked her didn’t she want some clothes or candy. She replied with a question of her own. Whose are these Bibles? I said They are for anyone who wants one. She asked, “How much do they cost?” I said they are free, you can have any one of them you want. After picking up all of them one at a time, she finally hugged a red one to her chest and walked off mumbling to herself. I asked my interpreter what she was saying and he said she was repeating over and over “A Bible for me, my own Bible to keep and read anytime I want to.” That image was burnt into my head that day and I have never forgotten it.

Last year, for the first time, we had a well built Bible with concordance printed in China to take the place of all the glued paper Bibles without any helps that most missionaries have used for years. It was the Reina Valera Gomez Spanish Bible which is the most accurate Bible available, in fact, it reads exactly like the King James Bible does in English and had a 122 page concordance. God supplied the funds through His people and those Bibles have been distributed in several Spanish speaking countries. This year we have put together a study Bible with concordance, glossary, maps, center references on each page and words of Christ in red. This Bible is Smyth sewn on Bible paper with a flexible imitation leather cover. If we order 10,000 of them they will cost $5.40 each. For less than the cost of one cheeseburger combo meal at McDonalds you can put a good quality study Bible in the hands of someone like that old Sister in Mexico.  Will you help? By the time you receive this newsletter I will have already placed the order. By the generosity of God’s people we already have $24,000 in the Bible account. After the order is made we have about 60 days to come up with the other $30,000. This is a cooperative effort between several missionaries. We are working together to get the Word of God into the hands of as many Spanish speaking people as possible. Write your check to Holiness In Mexico Inc. to get a tax deductible receipt and put Bibles in the memo line. Every dollar you send like this will be put in our special Bible account and used to purchase these Bibles.

Let's Buy Some Bibles

------------------

Many of you are familiar with our dear friends Bro. and Larry and Sis. Rosemary Landress. To say that they have went out of their way to be exceptional friends to us might be the understatement of the year. These friends have believed in us when few people did and we are blessed and grateful to know them.

Bro. and Sis. Landress have given many years to mission work among the Spanish speaking people. That work continues to this day. In fact as I have mentioned before, we are planning to join them for a tent revival in the state of Chiapas, Mexico later this year.

In addition to all of the physical work of evangelism, tent meetings, building churches, feeding and clothing folks and much, much more that is involved in mission work, Bro. Larry has touched thousands of lives through their literature ministry. They have distributed thousands of tracts, booklets, pieces of Sunday School literature and many thousands of Bibles.

They have contracted with a company to print some great Bibles in the best version available for Spanish speaking people. Bro. Larry wrote of it recently in their newsletter and I am so excited about it that I asked them if I could reprint it here on our blog.

I told you that these folks believe in us. Well, the feeling is mutual. I believe in the Landress family and the work they are doing in Mexico and beyond.

Will you join us in making God's Word available to the masses in the language they understand? I hope Tyndale's quote below will stir you as it did me.

I will allow Bro. Larry to take over from here...

Davy

Dear Friends,

Many of you know that I have been studying Bible versions for over 30 years. This long term study has led me to know exactly why I believe in the exclusive use of the King James Version in my English work and in the Reina Valera Gomez Version for my work in Spanish speaking countries.

I have been giving free economy Spanish Bibles to all that ask of me for over 22 years and trying to supply good leather bound Bibles to our Pastors and workers. These economy Bibles have cost us anywhere from nothing to about $6.00 each and we have distributed about 2,000 per year for a long time.

I made the choice many years ago to not sell Bibles but to carefully and prayerfully give them to all who asked of me. God has richly blessed that choice and supplied all our need according to His riches in glory. We have always been able to give to anyone who wanted a Bible whether it was a tent meeting, a prison or a street service in the USA or Mexico . We have sent Bibles to 10 other Spanish speaking countries besides Mexico and have received many letters of testimony through our literature ministry called “Holiness Without Borders”.

For the last few years we have seen a need that has gone unmet, many of the people who received Christ through our ministry and others are striving daily to “study to shew themselves approved unto God” but don’t have all the tools they need. As you know, a good concordance is a great help to the earnest child of God and our economy Bibles don’t have one. Of course all the leather Bibles do, but they cost us from $35.00 to $50.00, much too expensive to be able to give to all who ask.

I have recently contracted with an overseas printer to make us a vinyl covered, smith sewn Bible on good quality bible paper in the RVG version for only $6.50 each. I have seen the quality of these Bibles and it is really nice. Our Bible will be called a study Bible because it will contain a 122 page concordance especially made for the RVG Bible. In order to get this special printing we had to order 3,000 Bibles. By September of this year I will need to have $19,500 to pay the printing company.

I have prayed about this and am convinced that God is in favor of this project. We already have about $3,600 in hand and more has been promised. Will you pray for this need and consider helping if the Lord asks you to do so?

William Tyndale was burned at the stake saying for this,

I defy the pope and all his laws. If God spare my life, ere many years I will cause a boy that driveth the plough to know more of the scripture than he dost.”

If this generation will be able to know the true Gospel of Jesus Christ in the midst of all the deceiving religions of this present world, our only hope is that everyone from beggar to King know the truth of the Word of God for themselves.

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Bibles For Nigeria

We received a comment on a recent blog post asking about the possibility of sending Bibles to Nigeria with us on our next trip. Here is part of the comment.

"I will be in prayer for all of you and Tristan told me today that she would love to send blbles to a country that needs them and I thought about you all and your trip to Nigeria with Bro. Shabonki this November--could you let me know if they need or are able to accept Bibles and I will proceed from there. May God Richly Bless your ministry, sacrifices, and dedication to him and his service, yours in Christ, Sister Perryman"

We have taken nice leather KJV Bibles to Pastor Shobanke and his family before but I had never asked about taking boxes of Bibles over. I emailed Bro. Shobanke and received his reply yesterday.

Bro. Shobanke assures me there is a great need for Bibles in Nigeria. He said that because of the cost to ship Bibles to Nigeria and the monetary exchange rate it is better at this time to bring the money to Nigeria and buy the Bibles there. We have decided to put together some funds and purchase as many Bibles as we can for the precious saints in Nigeria.

Although english is the official language and most of the people speak english we would probably buy Bibles in their native languages so they could read them better. Most of the people in Abeokuta speak Yoruba and there is a good translation in Yoruba by the grace of God.

If any one is interested in providing funds for Bibles in Nigeria we will take the money if God allows us to go in November. We will make sure that every dollar given for Bibles is spent on Bibles and nothing else. You can send it to Boggs Family Ministries and mark the memo or envelope as Bibles For Nigeria. Since Boggs Family Ministries is a 501c3 all of your gift could be tax deductible.

Can you imagine not being able to afford a Bible of your own? We have been so blessed in America that anybody that wants a Bible can have one. It would be great to bless somebody in Nigeria with the Word of God in their hands. I encourage you to pray about it and see if God would lead you to do just that. I will try to get a price per Bible so you can know how many you are buying.

God bless you all.
