Whatever The Weather

Update At 9:50 AM Tuesday: No Church at Westside Holiness Church in Claremore, Oklahoma tonight. We will begin again on Wednesday night by God's grace.

Rev. Vance Havner is credited with the following witty quote about the weather.

Whether the weather be cold or whether the weather be hot.
Whether the weather be good or whether the weather be not.
Whatever the weather we will weather the weather, whether we like it or not
Vance Havner

We have had rain the last few days and with the rain, a cold front blew into Oklahoma. I have read that most of the US is having colder than normal temperatures this week.

I took these pictures from the Weather Channel App at 11:39 PM Monday evening.
30 degrees and going down to 27 degrees overnight.

22 degrees Tuesday night, 32 degrees Wednesday night and up to a balmy 38 degrees by Thursday night.

I believe that I definitely fall into the NOT liking the weather category this week. We have some horrible memories of Oklahoma winters while preaching revivals for 12 years out here in January and February. We said "No Thank You" to that many years ago.

Yet, here we are. I reckon Whatever the weather we will weather the weather, whether we like it or not.

Praise God we have not had to shovel snow this week.
Here are a few pictures from a blizzard in Tulsa in 2011 while we were trying to have revival at Hilldale Holiness Church,

Thank you for checking on us.

We Have Hit The Weather Jackpot This Summer!

Please tune in tomorrow for Part 1 of a special Word For Wednesday. I would be honored to have you join us.

We Have Hit The Weather Jackpot This Summer!

And while that is true and while that is clever, the fact remains, we have hit the weather jackpot this summer!

In May, June and early July 2022, KJo and I were in Arizona and southern California. Later in July we were in Kansas If we had been in those same locations this year, we would have roasted in no uncertain terms.

In fact, had we been almost anywhere in the USA this summer, other than where we have been, we would have been hotter than most summers and much hotter than we have been.

We hit the weather jackpot this summer, no doubt! Hallelujah!

The temperatures have been in the 70s and low 80s for most of our time in the northeast and that seems to be the forecast for the rest of our time up here as well. Vermont later this week is low 70s and even 60s one day. Unfortunately, the forecast includes a little rain.

Early on, we had some 90 degree days in southern Maine, but it felt nice and mild to us for the most part. The high only lasted an hour or two each afternoon and the humidity was completely tolerable for us. We can handle that and we did handle it just fine.

I have been getting texts regularly from friends across the country showing me temps in the 90s before 8:00 in the morning and still in the 90s as the sun goes down. Many of our friends had temperatures in the upper 90s or 100s nearly every day in July.

Yep, we hit the weather jackpot this summer!

We will head back south within a week and we are likely to encounter some oppressive heat before fall. We have two revivals in south Alabama and tent revival in Richton, Mississippi and all three of those are likely to be hot.

There is a chance that Mississippi tent revival will make us pay dearly for the beautiful weather we have thoroughly enjoyed the last five weeks. OR perhaps fall will swing into the south and we will breeze right through it.

One thing is for sure. Whether the weather be cold or whether the weather be hot.Whether the weather be good or whether the weather be not.
Whatever the weather we’ll weather the weather, whether we like it or not.

Thank you for dropping by Mile Markers today.

The Weekend Dispatch 6/19/2023

Wow! The weekend was awesome and we loved every moment of it!

Friday began with lunch at Chelino's with my brother Steve and sister in law Karen. Wow Again! we love that place.

The service Friday night was outstanding. We had a good crowd with lots of visitors and the Spirit of the Lord was moving mightily. It was great to have Steve and Karen along with Pastor John DiZazzo, Sis. Judy, Sis. Mary and Sis. Esther from Wichita.

Saturday we had lunch with Steve and Karen again and then spent the rest of the day in Seminole, Oklahoma with the Isaacs and several friends. There were severe storms in the area again so they moved the outdoor singing inside.

The weather Saturday night was bad again, but we made it through. Most of it went north of us and we received mostly heavy winds and very heavy rains. Thankfully, we never lost power at the church although several around us did.

Both services Sunday at Crosslight were excellent! We loved every moment of it. As I mentioned earlier this week, it is always a blessing and privilege for us to be here with Pastor Lendell Birdsong, Sis. Birdsong and all these folks.

Praise God for the good revival at Crosslight. Have I mentioned how much we love coming here?😂

Thank you for stopping in for The Weekend Dispatch. It is exciting to have you with us each day.
