A Monumental Day

 Hey Friends,

Thanks for visiting! I have something special to share with you today. We received a long awaited delivery yesterday. 

Back on Valentine's Day, we visited Maggard Memorials in Lebanon, Ohio. There, we found a wide array of options for the new stone that would mark Dad and Ali's shared final resting place. 

Their customer service was top-notch! We were so pleased. They helped us design a beautiful memorial to mark the grave. 

We placed the order, and it took several months to complete. Miami Cemetary only pours the footers for new stones twice a year, in spring and fall. 

Here is the little stone that had marked my sister's grave up until a few months ago. Dad had always wanted to get a large stone with room for three names. 

We were hoping the new stone would be ready by Ali's birthday in May. The  new stone and footer both were ready by then. 

Sadly, the weather did not cooperate as we had hoped. Torrential downpours had created lots of mud and soft ground in the cemetery. There was nothing that could be done about it.

This is what the spot looked like on Memorial Day. 

It has been sunny and dry for several days. We were hoping that it would soon be delivered!

Yesterday afternoon, my grandparents called to say the stone was in place. We went to the cemetery as quickly as we could to see it for ourselves!

The stone looks even better in person, than it did on a computer screen! I did not know  that I could think a head stone was so beautiful! Our entire family is thrilled with the outcome!

I love this beautiful memorial for my Daddy and my sister!  This is the inscription that we chose to put on the back. I think it sums up Dad’s life well!

"After a full life of service, Davy has gone home to his God."

The pictures on the front are two of our favorites. We struggled finding exactly what we wanted on the back. Mom came up with a solution that I love! She combined parts of three different photos to get the perfect one. 

The tent was part of a tent setup or teardown in Thomasville, Alabama. The BoggsMobile photo was taken at Bethany Revival Center in Wichita, Kansas. Actually, that is the last place Dad ever preached. The photo of Dad preaching was taken in Mexico. He was preaching under Bro. Larry Landress' tent.

We know Dad and Ali are not at Miami Cemetery in Corwin, Ohio. Only the shells that held them here were laid beneath the sod. I am glad that we can honor their memory! One great day the trumpet will sound, and the dead in Christ will rise to meet Him in the air! I am anxious to be reunited with them! Oh, glorious day!

The Blue And White Gospel Tent Lives On

 Hey Friends,

Thanks for stopping by to see us today. Yesterday was a monumental day for us. I am here to tell you about it. 

Our evening included a visit to Alcapulco with family! The food and fellowship were both excellent!

Tent revivals have been a large part of our ministry for years. It was Dad's passion to reach for those that would not come inside the four walls of the church. I love experiencing God anointing Dad in a special way during tent revivals. Some of our best services were under the tent!

Dad purchased the Blue and White Gospel Tent in 2012. We traveled thousands of miles, visited dozens of cities, and had hundreds of services under the Blue and White Gospel Tent. The memories are endless. 

Dad was dedicated to the tent revivals. He spent every ounce of physical and mental strength he could muster. He gave his blood, sweat and tears every time. 

There is one pastor and church that we worked with every year in tent revival. Pastor Scott Morris and Richton First Assembly we're having yearly tent revival's before we met them. They were very instrumental in our tent revival ministry!

My Dad always said if something happened to him, he wanted the tent to go to Pastor Scott Morris and Richton First Assembly. We have been trying to get it transferred over to them. 

Bro. Scott and Sis. Kim Morris were close enough to come get the tent yesterday. They rented a UHaul to hall everything back to Mississippi. 

Thanks to several family members who came to help us get it loaded. It took lots of heavy lifting. Mom and I are thankful for the help!

Mom and I are thrilled to see the Blue and White Gospel Tent Live on! Bro. Scott Morris is planning a special memorial tent revival to honor Dad. 

We plan on attending the revival this fall. You all are invited too. It should be in mid September. I will announce the details, once the plans are worked out.

Davy Boggs Obituary Information

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in from the beach cottage. Mom and I made it home to Waynesville last night. It was so good to spend some time surrounded by family!

Thank you for your calls, texts, comments, emails, prayers, hugs and support! Once again, the family of God has surrounded us. Your kindness and generosity are helping us through a difficult time. Words cannot adequately express our gratitude and appreciation!

Davy Boggs 

Jan 16, 1967 - Nov 10, 2024

Boggs, Davy, age 57, of Waynesville, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024, in Wichita, Kansas.

Davy graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’85, where he served as class president. 

Davy began preaching as a teenager and married young to his great love, Kelly Jo. They traveled and preached on weekends, worked public jobs, evangelized full-time some and pastored churches twice. Their daughter Odie traveled with them everywhere. In 2003, the family committed to full-time ministry with their only home on the road. After wearing out a couple trucks and fifth-wheel campers, in 2008, Davy moved his family into the Boggsmobile, a 1995 Prevost Motorcoach bus. While this complex machine stressed him at times (a condition the family called bus-induced psychosis), it quickly became home to him and remained his home until last week. 

Davy and his family spent much more time away than they did at home, often spending months traveling across the United States spreading the word of God as an evangelist. His days were spent studying and seeking the Lord so he could fulfill his calling to encourage pastors. Davy and his family ministered more than 340 services most years. Davy’s passion was for souls, and he loved to reach for them under the Blue and White Gospel Tent. In fact, he spent more than 800 nights holding tent revivals. In 2016, the ministry had a year of City Reach tent revivals across much of the country. Along the way, Davy and his family became close to many pastors and their congregations; places that became like home, friends that truly became family.

Boggs Family Ministries, under Davy’s leadership, traveled the world spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In 2007, on the invitation of Pastor E. Ade Shobanke, they began traveling overseas to Nigeria. Davy was widely known and loved by the people in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where he preached minister’s conferences, camp meeting services, revivals or wherever he was asked to go. He pledged support from Boggs Family Ministries to the GoodNews Christian School when it was only a dream, and they have continued that support. He believed in the mission of the school and was convinced they are changing lives for good in Abeokuta and beyond.

Another abiding passion and ministry are his many thousands of blog posts at www.BoggsBlogs.com. He used the blog for many purposes: spiritual edification, travelogue, bus maintenance journal, and whatever else his interesting mind beheld and wished to share. Davy also had a regular Word For Wednesday (https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKnI-D9DP9CsjD-Eckg9WYp54FQiq8kL6&si=iglopxFJs4plFG1F) on the ministry’s YouTube channel. Archived on the YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/@boggsfamilyministries?si=iAqJhjFwxxSNserJ) as well is the much-loved 61 night revival Davy held early in Covid-19. His encouragement and sharing of the Gospel would not be stopped because people were unable to gather.

Davy loved books. Eventually he found a place to keep them out of storage at the Lazy OD Ranch. He has long collected and shared his preacher’s library used as inspiration for his messages, videos and blog posts. Earlier in his life, he enjoyed playing the acoustic guitar, which developed into a passion for the sweet sound of a good Martin. He also loved to eat. When he was home, he had a tradition of visiting Acapulco Mexican Restaurant in Lebanon at opening time almost daily. They referred to him as “Señor Salsa;” he might even drink the salsa straight from the bowl. Many of Davy’s food adventures are documented on BoggsBlogs, including pictures of course.

Davy was faithful, caring, ethical, dedicated and kind. His sincerity with people made them feel like they were his best friend. He loved God’s people and the lost alike. In addition, he was very generous, for he knew God blessed him so he could help others. He kept his hands open to share God’s blessings. In Davy’s words, “We are humbled by what Christ has done in our lives and unashamed to travel the roads singing and preaching that Christ will do the same for all that go to God the Father through Him.”

Davy was preceded in death by his daughter, Ali Elizabeth Boggs. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kelly Jo Boggs; one daughter, Andrea Eve "Odie" Boggs; his parents, Eugene and Martha Boggs; two brothers, Steve (Karen) Boggs and Tommy Boggs; one sister, Theresa (Jay) Osborn; parents-in-law, Danny and Betty Morgan; sister-in-law, Kimberly (Brian) Roush; brother-in-law, Danny (Jeanna) Morgan Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and many friends all across the world.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 21, at the Dryden Road Pentecostal Church in Moraine. Burial will be at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, November 20, at the church.

The Birth Of Hope

As I mentioned last week, I was thrilled to preach under the Tabernacle at St. Thomas. I had been looking forward to being at that meeting to sing, but I never really thought about the joy of preaching outside again.  

First, I did not know I would be preaching during the meeting and second, I was mostly concerned about the possibility of excessive heat. The meeting has a well earned reputation of being a hot one.

Here I am after service, which I preached, Sunday night.

So once I learned I would be preaching the previous week, I never considered all it would mean to me. As I was preaching Sunday night, I was nearly overwhelmed by emotion that I was actually preaching outdoors.

Earlier this year it was highly uncertain IF I would ever stand behind a pulpit and preach anywhere, much less under a tabernacle in a camp meeting. I have been emotional about it ever since and thankful to God for bringing me a mighty long way!

It is not exactly the same as preaching under a Gospel tent as I have many hundreds of nights, but it sure was nice and felt mighty good. I may never be able to set up a tent and preach under it again, but this meeting dared me to hope.

The Tent Comes Down In Richton, Mississippi

Today we have pictures of the tent coming down in Richton, Mississippi last Saturday. It comes down quick. I think Odie said it was less than 25 minutes from when we began and the tent being rolled up.

I appreciate all of the great help getting it down and loaded in the trailer. We might could do it ourselves, but it would be very difficult and an all day job.😜

The men worked hard to get the stakes out of the ground. They have had no rain for quite a spell and the stakes were planted well. The men earned their keep for sure.
