Success On a Dreaded Task!

There is a task each year that must be completed and Tuesday was the day we appointed to get it done. In 2008 we incorporated our ministry and applied to the IRS for Boggs Family Ministries to be recognized as a 501c3.

There is one inconvenience to being a non-church 501c3. Every year, Boggs Family Ministries is required to file one of the various versions of Form 990 with the IRS. 990 is not a tax return, but a reporting form. They want to make sure we are operating according to the regulations and not personally profiting from tax-exempt funds.

The Form 990 is due on May 15, but we filed an extension until October 15 and that will be on us soon. We knew we would be parked by Monday with no church Tuesday so Tuesday was the day.

You may remember that we had taken a few days in September to work on our books and that was part of the preparation for the 990 EZ. All that work made the task lighter but not easy. The 990 EZ is a misnomer for sure. It is laborious and intensive and we dread it every year.

We are now using an online service that provides online software to non-profits and it is getting easier every year. With all the numbers at hand and the repetitive information saved in the software, we were finished in a little over three hours. It was an intense three hours, but we breathed a big sigh of relief at the end.

With the online software, we pay a small fee to transmit the form electronically to the IRS and we received confirmation within a couple hours that it was received and accepted. That does not mean the IRS accepts all our numbers, but it used to be incredibly frustrating getting them to acknowledge receiving the form by mail.

Hallelujah! The dreaded task was successful! When the calendar rolls around we will do it all over again!

That is part of our life and we are thankful you stopped by today.

A Travelogue - Russellville to Claremore

I am thankful that we are finished with 500 mile travel between revivals for a while. Last week nearly kilt me. Whew!

This week it was only 207 miles between Russellville, Arkansas and Claremore, Ok;ahoma and that was long enough. It was a great weather day for travel and that makes any travel day extremely better.

We were up later than expected visiting with church folks Sunday night and enjoying it but there was no need for an early start Monday. In addition to all the normal things we do to roll the wheels, I needed to add some oil to the big Detroit.

Once that was finished, KJo turned on the key and the coolant light was on. She told me so we added a gallon to the expansion tank and that satisfied the sensor as I knew it would. I usually need a gallon at least once a year and with the limited miles in 2024l this was the first one.

I always keep 4-5 gallons of mixed 50% coolant/50% water for emergencies. I knew we had plenty with us because that was one of the things on our checklist before we left home. That makes the busy days at home before departure worth it.

Once we cranked, we did the work of the evangelist, flipped the bus around and attached the Jeep. 100 miles and 93 minutes later we were stopped at the Oklahoma Welcome Center rest area.

I went outside and walked a bit to limber up and Kelly prepared a little meal for me there. We were only stopped about 40 minutes, but it was a good stop.

After 207 miles we pulled into Westside Holiness Church in Claremore, Oklahoma.

This is definitely a familiar stop for us and we are happy to be here. We first came to Westside in the 1990s at their old location and we have always loved it. Bro. Jimmy Millikin is the Pastor at Westside and has been for five or six years. We love the Millikins and that adds to the appeal here.

We parked the BoggsMobile, hooked up the water and electric and then I helped KJo wash the bugs from the front of the bus and the road grime from the Jeep.

We were about and hour and forty minutes getting all of that completed but I was sitting in a chair operating the sprayer most of the time. I was spent when we pulled in,

That was our travel day and the next three travel days in October should be even shorter! Yay! Today we have a big and intense task. I will tell you about it later.

Thank you for dropping in.

The Weekend Dispatch 10/7/24

Let me tell you we have a bunch of super pictures from our weekend. I hope you love pictures because we love bringing them to you;

We enjoyed another wonderful revival service Friday night to begin the weekend at Parker Hill Holiness Church in Russellville, Arkansas. We had friends visiting that we had not seen in years plus all of our new friends too. It was a great night of revival and fellowship.

Saturday was our day of rest and that is exactly what we accomplished. I did get out for lunch and fellowship with the Pastor and family and the girls grabbed some groceries in the evening. That was the whole of our Saturday. The rest was spent on sermon prep and doing as much of nothing as I could possibly squeeze in,

Here are some Friday night pictures and I will be back with more weekend news.

Saturday lunch with the Brandon family.

On Sunday, Odie took more pictures of both services as the revival wrapped up. It was a great day of revival and it was wonderful to see the Lord move on His people and to feel Him Move on us. We sure had a good time in Russellville. We appreciate Pastor Michael Brandon inviting us for revival.

Thank you for stopping in. It is always nice to have you.
