A foggy and gorgeous morning at Many Glacier in Glacier National park. There are Grizzly spotted regularly in this area but not by us!

Yes, Ashlee, we are bundled up and cold on July 27th!

Next nine Pictures - Taken on the Going to the Sun Rd. in Glacier National Park. The Park was prettier than we have ever seen it! It was foggy on the East side and as we crossed Logan Pass which is on the Continental Divide the clouds began to roll back to reveal the dazzling sunshine on the West side.

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is in Missoula. These are the people responsible for reintroducing Elk in Kentucky and several other states the last 25 years. This is an awesome place!

The most awesome mount! It is just inside the front door of the visitors center.

Kelly Jo said this must be the rainbow capitol of the world. I lost track of how many rainbows we saw that day including at least two double rainbows.

Day Trips in Montana

The weather out here in the great Northwest has been beautiful! Kelly Jo and I have been taking advantage of the weather and the great scenery here during the day. We have taken several day trips to see the sights. Some trips we have taken with the Metzger's and some we have taken by ourselves.

In the last several days we have been to the Big Hole Battlefield, Skalkaho Falls, Flathead Lake, in and around Glacier National Park and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

I've now been home a week. I am still having a wonderful time with family! The weather has cooled a bit. Yesterday was a gorgeous day.

Saturday night I went to church with Mamaw and Papaw at Dodds. I was glad to see some friends from other states. Bro Matthew Stephens and family were there to talk of their mission trip to Germany. They are from Bro. Dwain Galiher's in West Plains, Missouri. It wonderful to hear them tell of their German friends and how God is working in their lives!!! Bro. Matthew and the children, Brooklyn, Boston and Britain sang and quoted scripture. The kids are growing and doing so well with their music!

Cody Shaneyfelt had been in Richmond, Indiana for the INHIM conference. He came with the Stephens family to church Saturday. I was surprised to see a friend from Hokes Bluff, Alabama.

Sunday I made both services at Dryden Road Pentecostal Church. I love my home church!!! Sunday Morning Bro. Bill Houston preached. Sunday night my Pastor, Bro. Bennie Sutherland preached. Thanks, Aunt Holly, for the rides to church!

On the home church note, we have many in need of prayer. Our dear friend Bro. Shannon Baker is recovering from surgery. He has a long road of recovery!!!!! Please pray for Bro. Shannon, Sis. Tammy, Braden and Reagan Baker in this tough time!!!!!!!

Monday evening I spent with my cousin Lisa. We enjoyed dinner at Skyline Chili. Then we hit the local Goodwill, Cato and Walmart. Before heading home we decide to try a Mocha Frape' together. All my family here is bragging on the Frape's. Neither one of us is a coffee fan. But by the time we finished the Frape' we had decided that we liked it. The weather was so nice we enjoyed riding with the windows down and the sun roof open. To my cousin Deidre, who is in Arizona, we missed you !

In May we visited Central City, Kentucky. Sis. Tammy Harris is my "Physical Therapist". Sis. Tammy had me try walking with a walker. I really liked how it felt! I had been kind of looking for a walker since then. Last night at the Goodwill I found a good one for $6.00! I am so happy! I'm enjoying getting to use it.

Today I am home with Mamaw. Mamaw has been canning tomatoes.

Loving Home But Missing Montana Friends and Weather

Hello from Hot Ohio!!!! I am having a great time so far. We are trying to stay cool! Yesterday the heat index was 105 degrees and the humidity is high.

I am spending time with my Mamaw and Papaw today. We are enjoying a quiet day at home.

Friday we also were home in the air conditioning. Several of the family stopped by. We had a good time visiting. I am blessed with a great family!

Thursday afternoon I was reunited with my big camera. I missed the Canon badly! It seems to be back to normal now. Also Thursday night thanks to my, Cousin Lisa, I made to church at Dryden Road! It was great to be at home church!!!! My Pastor, preached awesome! I am looking forward the services Sunday!

I do miss beautiful Montana and the Weather! And my great friends at Sun Valley Church!!!! Thanks to the youth group for adopting me! You all are awesome! Thanks for encouraging me!!!

Driving With Lewis and Clark on the Lolo Trail

We went driving with Lewis and Clark on the Lolo Trail on Thursday and it was a blast. Lewis and Clark made their historic trip over 200 years ago paddling all the way up the Missouri to its source and then crossing the mountains to the Pacific. When they arrived at the Bitterroots and began to search for a way across one of their men remarked that these were the most terrible mountains he had ever seen. I would say a hearty amen to that. These mountains are still part of the biggest untamed wilderness area in the United States.

Today US 12 follows the Lochsa River twisting and turning all the way through the Bitterroots. It is one curvy road but Lewis and Clark and their band of men would have be thrilled with Hwy 12. Instead, they crossed on an Indian trail that follows the mountain ridge just north of the river. It is over 100 miles through that rugged wilderness. There is a gravel/dirt/rock road that traces that old Nez Perce trail. We drove about 30 miles of it and we were constantly in awe of the beauty and remoteness of the way.

Lewis and Clark crossed the Bitterroots in September 1905 and an early winter storm and lack of food nearly killed them all. They pressed on through waist deep snow at times and made it across. Those were very tough and determined men.

Odie Has Flown the Coop!

Odie flew from Missoula to Cincinnati today and made the trip safely. My Dad and Mom picked her up at the airport around 9:00pm eastern time. This is not the first time Odie has flown by herself but it is the first time she has made a connection in Chicago but she did great!

Odie is going to be home four weeks visiting with family and friends and then Kelly Jo and I will join here for Dryden Rd. Indoor Campmeeting before returning to California to resume revivals. I am sure she will be posting pictures from home and detailing her adventures as well.

We have never been away from Odie for more than a week so it is a new experience for all of us. We miss her but we are getting by some how.

Does God Bless Microwave/Convection Ovens?

Does God Bless Microwave/Convection Ovens?

That is the the question of the day....

But first a story.

Kelly Jo was cooking July 4th for the big hog roast at Sun Valley Church in Florence, Montana when she noticed that her Microwave/Convection Oven had quit cooking. The timer was still counting, all of the controls seemed to be working but no sound of cooking. Fortunately the baked beans were close enough to being finished and I might say they were Delicious!

The next day Kelly Jo pulled out all the paperwork on the Microwave/Convection Oven (Thankfully the previous owners of the BoggsMobile saved the paperwork for everything) and I started checking it out. Once I had followed all the instructions in the book with no fix I began to call the phone numbers for customer service and repairs that I found in the original papers. Since the Microwave/Convection Oven was manufactured in 1995 I was not really surprised to find that not one number was good.

I finally located an electronics repair shop in Missoula and called them. After talking to them we examined our options.

1. Pay $20 to have the problem diagnosed then repaired at $150-200 minimum.

2. Order a new Microwave/Convection Oven for $552 plus shipping for the only brand in the world with the proper outside dimensions.

3. Do without a Microwave/Convection Oven.

Well.....

#3 was not an option because we have no other oven in the BoggsMobile.

#2 was not in the budget so I went with option #1.

We took it in and forked over the $20 and hoped for the $150-200 minimum. If the estimate was more than $200 to repair our 15 year old Microwave/Convection Oven then we would have to bite the bullet for a new one.

The repair place called a few days later and gave me the verdict. They checked everything out thoroughly and all the major components were working fine. The culprit was a $10 door switch. That's the safety switch to keep the unit from working with the door open. I had to pay the diagnostic fee, an hours labor and $10 for the switch for a grand total of $87!

We picked it up the next day, put everything back in place, plunked the magic twanger and it Worked! The Microwave/Convection Oven is back to cooking every day!

Now, for my original question....

Does God Bless Microwave/Convection Ovens?

Is God concerned for the condition, feelings or future of Microwave/Convection Ovens?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that I don't think God concerns himself much at all with Microwave/Convection Ovens...Or refrigerators, air conditioners, tools, clothes, toys, guns or even cars, houses and lands....

God doesn't love objects, things and stuff. God loves people! He loves people like the Boggs family and people like you. In fact God tells us in His word that He loves us with an everlasting love. He loves people so much that He gave His only begotten son for us! God demonstrated His Love toward us and He still does every day!

God did not Love our Microwave/Convection Oven. He Loves our family!

God did not bless our Microwave/Convection Oven. He blessed our family!

Some people think and teach erroneously that if God is blessing you then you won't have any problems. But very often He blesses us through our problems or even with our problems!

He could have blessed us with the money for a brand new $552 Microwave/Convection Oven.

He could have blessed us with a $50 used one on eBay.

He could have delivered one to my door out of thin air.

He could have given us the grace and patience to do without a Microwave/Convection Oven for more than 10 days.

He could have miraculously healed it right in the cabinet when Kelly Jo laid hands on it. (I kind of prefer this option because I would not have had to remove and reinstall anything and no out of pocket expense.)

But God Blessed us with a working Microwave/Convection Oven, repaired quickly at a reasonable price.

The point is that all of the above would have been the blessing of God on our family. And NONE of those options means God loves us one ounce less than the others. Some are easier to take than others but God knows what is best for us!

Take a moment to look around your life, my friend! You may be wondering when God is going to work in that situation or this circumstance. When is God going to heal, fix or produce? But God is working right now even as you read this. He is giving grace, love and mercy to you and he is working behind the scenes and going way in front of you for your Good!

You may not see it now but God is working for you...

God is blessing you...

God Loves You!

Does God Care much about our Microwave/Convection Oven? Sorry, I don't think so, but He proves once again He cares a whole big bunch about us.

Kid's Night at Sun Valley Church

This past Sunday night was Kid's Night at Sun Valley Church. It was a lot of fun!!!! Sis. Sarah and Abby worked hard making the night possible.
There were some songs, skits and lots of laughs!!!!

Hannah Metzger did a wonderful job as Mimi!!!! Teaching us to always listen to instructions.

Also we had a western version of the story of Esther,"Hester"

You really should of been there. We all had a good time!!

To top off the evening were reminded of Psalms 119:105. "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.". We are so blessed to have God's instruction book to guide us!!!

Peter Metzger as Uncle Morty really enjoyed his costume. LOL He contributed the pictures of his costume in different stages for you to see.

I included one of the pics when I found Blake, Peter and Ben playing in the costume box.

Sun Valley Church has a great youth group. I have immensely enjoyed my time with them!! I plan to do a more in depth post on my friends here in Florence, Montana.

Glacier National Park From Odie

Hey everyone Dad told you of our exciting day last Friday. We had a great time with Bro. Mike, Sis. Debbie and Leah Metzger! Dad gave you a good report of the days events. We made memories that day that will last a lifetime!!

Here are a few of the shots I caught with my phone. My big Canon camera was in the shop. My warranty is about to expire so I sent it off for some maintenance work. I sure have missed it. I feel like a piece of me is missing!!!!!

I did manage to get some good pics with my BlackBerry. I had a rough time narrowing it down. Enjoy!!!!!

Glacier National Park is an awesome place. The beauty of God's creation is beyond words.

Smokin' Dave's BBQ

On the Way to Montana we stopped for 2 days at Estes Park, Colorado as most of you know. Estes Park is a tourist town right at the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. While there we had to eat so I ask for some recommendations and the very first one was Smokin' Dave's BBQ. I have never been impressed with restaurants in most tourist towns. They usually charge to much for over rated food and dinky portions. We definitely found an exception in Smokin' Daves BBQ. It was excellent!

We started with the Mile High Cheese Fries and they were delicious.

The servings were so large we carried some home with us. Those of you that know me, know that is rare! Kelly Jo and Odie split the Double Meat Combo and they chose the 1/2 BBQ Chicken and the Pulled Pork. It was a little off their diet but they enjoyed every bite of it.

I had the Triple Meat Combo and when they started bringing the plates I knew we had ordered too much food. I usually try to compensate for the small serving sizes in most restaurants but they know how to feed a fat boy in that place. The sides were not all that big but what honest meat lover cares much about sides anyway. Kelly Jo laughs at me every time the waitress asks me which sides I want. I always have a shocked look on my face because I never even remember to look at the sides on the menu!

I chose the Buffalo Baby Back Ribs, the 1/2 BBQ Chicken and the Beef Brisket.

All three meats were some of the best I have ever eaten. I have had buffalo several times but never buffalo ribs. They were great. Not the most tender ribs I have ever had but the taste was as good as any.

The brisket was tender and awesome and they put a pile of brisket on my plate. I would say they served me nearly a pound of brisket.

The chicken was seasoned better that any I have ever tasted. I don't know what they put on that skin but it was spicy and sweet all at the same time. It was soooo good!

In case you haven't picked up on it, I was very impressed with this Restaurant. If you take a trip to Estes Park, Colorado save time for Smokin' Dave's BBQ. Oh and by the way, it wasn't "my" food we took home that night! lol

Sunday Lunch at the Metzger's

Sunday Lunch at the Metzger's.

Sis. Metzger prepared a great wild game lunch for us today and it was tremendous. In the past we have had Black Bear, Buffalo, Deer and Elk on several occasions at their house and it has all been very good. Today was just a tad bit more exotic.

Can you guess the wild game on the table from the picture above? Here is a close up of one of the meats below. Any Guesses? Looks like pork doesn't it? In fact it looks and tastes so much like pork that I would not have known the difference if they had not told me.

Anybody want to venture a guess?

The other meat Sis. Metzger prepared was Caribou. She cooked it in a crock pot with mushrooms and onions and was so tender and good!

Glacier National Park with the Metzgers

Yesterday (Friday 7/9) we had a great day with Bro. and Sis. Metzger and Sis. Leah. We spent the whole day driving and touring through Glacier National Park and it was an awesome day! We sure appreciate the Metzger family and all their kindness and a special thanks to Bro. Metzger for chauffeuring us all day.

The Metzgers arrived just after 6:00 in the morning and we were packed up and ready to go.

The first thing on the agenda was tires. Bro. Metzger discovered that one of the tires on their Suburban was literally coming apart. That meant we HAD to have breakfast at Denny's while waiting for the tire shop to open. Sometimes life is so hard! But all you can eat pancakes for $4 helps tremendously.

We headed North about 8:30 and after a beautiful drive up through Seeley Lake and lots of great fellowship we arrived at the park entrance around noon. The road through Glacier National Park is called "The Going to the Sun Road." It is about 50 miles across and the perfect temps and sunny skies made for a fabulous drive. After another tire change and a side trip up through Many Glacier we drove back across the Going to the Sun Rd. and back toward Florence!

It was a terrific day! Here are a few pictures.

Great Southwest Tour!

My older brother Steve, his lovely wife Karen and their three children Deidre, Victor and Isaac are leaving on a trip of a lifetime later today. They are flying to Phoenix, Arizona and using that as a home base to tour Arizona, Utah, Nevada and Southern California. Their trip will include a hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, a three night stay down there and a hike back up. That should be exciting!

Fatburger

In my never ending search for the Best Greasy Cheeseburger in the world I recently came upon a place called Fatburger! What's in a name you ask? Well, in this case, everything! That name was just too good to pass up.

We went in and I ordered the largest Hamburger they had. It was supposed to be three 1/2 pound patties and it looked like it lived up to its description..

It was a bit pricey especially since they charged extra for almost everything. I ask if the burger came with cheese and the man said cheese was .79 cents extra. I ordered it with cheese and they charged me .79 cents per slice. That means on a triple hamburger with 4 slices of cheese the cheese alone cost $3.16! See what I mean about pricey and charging for everything?

The sandwich was delicious though! The patties were very thick as you can see in the picture and they were very good. Not as greasy as I like it but I understand most folks want all the grease squeezed out. I have developed a liking for very thin patties the last couple of years like Steak N Shake, Spanky's in Broken Arrow, OK and Ron's in Tusla and Oklahoma City. These patties at Fatburger are definitley not thin, hence the name Fatburger, but they are definitely good!

The guy at the counter tried to talk me into a smaller version of their hamburger. He was sure the giant triple would be too much for me to eat. I was a little offended by that. After the meal he ask me what I thought and I told him, "It was a pretty good little snack." I think he was offended my that! Bless his heart!

I noticed on their website that they have been around since 1952 and are located in several states so they must be doing something right. The price will probably keep my visits to a minimum though. Not that I mind spending good money for good food but there was a Five Guys right across the street. I couldn't help but think about the fact that I could have had two loaded Double Cheeseburgers from Five Guys for the same price and had money left over. That will win me over every time!

I am sure you will like it if you love a good hamburger. They had burgers that were quite a bit cheaper than the one I ordered. If you find one and try it, let me know what you think...

July is a busy month for birthdays in our immediate family. I am going to combine my birthday post for this month.

It all starts today on the 3rd with my mother Kelly Jo!!!! I am blessed with a great mother that I love dearly!!! Happy Birthday, Mom!!!!

July 8th is the birthday of Luke Evans Happy Birthday, Uncle Luke!! We love you!

July 14th is the big day for Kim Evans. Happy Birthday, Aunt Kim! We love you!

Kayla Jo Morgan is like her Aunt Kelly Jo and Aunt Kim, she also celebrates this month. On July 21st Kayla turns 14!! Where has the time gone? Love you, Kayla Jo! Happy Birthday!!!!!!

The month closes with a final birthday on the 31st. This precious lady is dear to our hearts. She is our Pastor's wife, Sis. Jane Sutherland. It is often said behind every good man there is a good woman, well Sis. Jane is a jewel of a woman! I am so thankful God brought her into our lives!!!! Happy Birthday, Sis. Jane! Update on Anniversary by Kelly Jo

Davy's post with all of the pictures and beautiful words was a complete surprise to me. In fact everything that day was a surprise to me. Here is a little about our Anniversary day.

This man has treated me soooo good! On our 25th anniversary I awoke to breakfast in bed and a dozen roses.

He forced me off of my diet to eat my favorite treats, candy bars and chocolate doughnuts. (It wasn't too hard to comply)
We spent a lot of the day touring some back country mountain roads in this beautiful state of Montana.

Again blowing the diet at Outback Steakhouse, we had a wonderful dinner reminiscing the days when we were kids starting off on a great expedition of life together.

Davy has been a good provider, encourager and a wonderful husband. His faithful perserverence to overcome hard twists and turns of life has brought us to where we are today. I am so proud of him for that. The grace of God is truly evident in our marriage. I can't wait to spend the next 25 years with this loving, tender man.

Our celebration of this day is not over. This will be a summer of celebration in this wilderness country that we love. What an adventure we are on! I'm ready to hang on and hang in partner! YEEHAW!!!

Over 31 years ago my Aunt Hulda Livingston would pick me up and take me to church with her in Harveysburg, Ohio. I loved to go to church with Aunt Hulda. One of the main reasons I loved to go was one of the "girls" that played piano at her church. Harveysburg had a whole gang of piano players and several of them were very young. There was a lot of talent in that church. In fact a number of those young ladies turned out to be great piano players.

However, only one of them caught my eye. She was blond haired, blue eyed, pretty as she could be and all of 10 years old. Keep in mind that I was only 11 myself. I found out she lived less than a mile away from me down over the hill in Corwin. So I would ride my bike to "town" and see her every chance I could. We would mostly play with all the other kids (she was painfully shy in those days) in Corwin but I loved to be near her.

Several years would pass before the twists and turns of life brought us together but 25 years ago today we stood in my parents living room with our families and closest friends and said "I do!" We had no idea what we were getting in to. We were two very messed up kids but God had mercy on us and here we are 25 years later by the grace of God.

Kelly Jo has stood by me through thick and thin and back to thick again. She is the most kind, warm loving person I've ever came across. She has a servants heart and is ready and willing to serve God by serving others. She has never ask for limelight and has never sought applause. She has never lived for her own selfish motives. She is always a giver and never a taker.

She is prettier than she was at 10 and prettier than she was 25 years ago. She has been an outstanding mother to our daughter, Odie and an excellent wife to me. She is known across this country as fun loving, God fearing, solid Christian woman.

Kelly Jo has been and still is the perfect preachers wife. She has followed me all over this country without flinching and to preach in other countries without one complaint.

She holds me together when my nerves would destroy me. She calms me when I would destroy myself.

She's my very best friend as well as my cook, housekeeper, navigator, travel companion, encourager, helper, buddy and lover. And she still plays a pretty mean piano! I guess there are some things that even 31-32 years can't change!

Kelly Jo, thank you for loving me. Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for pushing me. Thank you for your friendship. I am so sorry about your luck but it looks like you are stuck with me until death parts us!

Wow! 25 years today! What a life! What a blessing from God! I am blessed and highly favored of God and that's a fact!

Oh! And her birthday is July 3rd. So Happy Birthday too, Kelly Jo!

Leah Metzger High School Graduation

Friday night we were honored to be a part of Sis. Leah Metzger's High School Graduation at Sun Valley church. Leah is the forth child of Pastor Mike and Sis. Debbie Metzger. She is a beautiful young lady with a heart for God that really shines through in her life. It was a great privilege to preach and sing on Leah's big day!

Big Thompson River Canyon

These are the pictures I promised of the beautiful drive going East out of Estes Park toward Loveland, Colorado on Hwy. 34 down the Big Thompson River Canyon. The road drops over 2500 feet in the space of 25 miles and the view the entire distance is incredible. The canyon is narrow all the way down with just enough room for the road, the river and a few houses and businesses. I just coasted the BoggsMobile the whole 25 curvy miles with the Jake Brake on pulling over every few miles to let the long train of cars behind me pass by. It was one of the most relaxing drives in a long time. Maybe I was being prepped for the storm later in the day! lol I took these pictures through the windshield.

There are signs posted in various places that say "In Case of Flooding Climb to Higher Ground" Later we found out why. On July 31, 1976 this area received 12 inches of rain in 3 hours and the 2 foot stream became a 19 foot wall of water sweeping boulders, houses, businesses, cars,RVs and homes down the narrow canyon. 145 lives were lost in that flood. If you Google Big Thompson River Canyon you can read all about it. The memories of those that survived moved me to tears. The 34th Anniversary of the flood is July 31-August 1.

The Last Picture was also taken from the windshield of the BoggsMobile headed West on I-90 in Montana. I hope I'm not wearing you out with pictures. We are going to be in the West a few months so there will probably be many more to come.

Storms, Zip Dee Window Awnings and Psalm 46: 1-3

We definitely had and interesting afternoon Tuesday. Everything had went very smoothly all day. We left Estes Park around 11:00 Am and started the nice leisurely and stunning drive to Loveland and I-25. I snapped several pictures through the windshield but I haven't even checked to see how they turned out. I hope to post some of them later if they are good.

We headed North on I-25 and stopped for fuel at the Flying J in Cheyenne. In the afternoon on the North side of Casper, Wyoming the storm clouds began to gather to our West. They didn't look good at all but it seemed by the weather reports that we would be North of the storm by the time it crossed the interstate. Lesson #1: Don't believe everything you read or hear!

About 30 miles North of Casper we were right in the path of a terrible storm. Very high winds and the potential of large hail and heavy rain. Occasionally we had some hills on the West side of the interstate so that blocked some of the wind but it was still moving the BoggsMobile pretty badly. I slowed way down and was looking for somewhere to park (In the middle of nowhere.) when it sounded like the roof came off the bus. We have, or I should say had, a 17 ft. window awning on the drivers side of the bus and when I looked in my mirror trying to locate the source of the terrible noise I could see the awning was flopping in the wind!

The tension is supposed to keep it rolled up, plus it had a little safety catch on it as well but nothing held in that wind. I pulled over and accessed the situation and decided to ease up under a bridge to hopefully find some shelter from the wind and rain. While I was doing this, Kelly Jo was sending texts to friends and family so they could pray AND so they would know where we were if we were blown a way in the storm.

The awning was so damaged, I knew it wouldn't roll back up so I tried my best to rig something to secure it for a few miles. We were all praying as I worked from a ladder right next to the interstate and it seemed the BoggsMobile could literally turn over from the force of the wind at times. I kept quoting and praying a verse that I have been preaching to folks across this country.

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

The situation was stressful for several minutes and it seemed as if things could become drastically worse in seconds but there was no fear. I know that God is my refuge. I know that God is my strength. I know that God is a very present help in my trouble. Therefore I must not allow fear to reign!

After the Lord helped me to secure it enough to drive slowly if the wind would die down we began to pray about which direction to go. Continue on 85 miles to the campground we had planned to stay in? Then 40 more miles the next day to the nearest RV Repair place on our route? OR Find a place to turn around and go 30 miles in the wrong direction to Casper, Wyoming?

It was after 5:00 so I expected the Repair facilities in Casper to be closed. I called one and they said they could get me in the next morning and could repair or remove the awning. Just as I started that way the wind died down, the sun came out and a beautiful bright rainbow appeared beside the road! Praise God!

I drove very slowly to Rec Vee Service & Supply in Casper and pulled in around 6:15 PM. Lou, the owner, was still there so he looked it over and it was obvious the awning was beyond repair. The only option was to remove it. After about 30 minutes work we had it on the ground. Here's the kicker. Lou charged me only $25 and for only $10 more he allowed me to plug into his 50 amp plug and spend the night. After all the stress of the storm, the possibilities that could have happened, the damage that did occur, Lou Grunewald of Rec Vee Service & Supply was an answer to prayer!

I have no idea what a new window awning will cost but right now it doesn't matter. I am thankful my little family is safe and that all 12 tires (Counting Mr. Cheap Jeep) are facing down instead of looking at the sky!

We should have taken some pictures during the storm but pictures were way down the list of priorities behind things like prayer!

Praise God for his help and the prayers of our friends!

Rocky Mountain National Park

The BoggsMobile in an Estes Park campground.

We first visited Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park, Colorado 9 or 10 years ago. We lived in Wichita, Kansas at the time so we brought Kelly Jo's parents and her sister Kimberly on a whirlwind trip to this beautiful state and the last day included 4 or 5 hours in the Rocky Mountain National Park. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it and promised ourselves that we would come back to see more of it someday. That day finally arrived and in our characteristic fashion we were riding another whirlwind. We rented a campground for two nights and wish we could explore this area for a week. It is an absolutely beautiful place!

The first elk we saw this time was on the road to Bear Lake. The sun was shining very bright and it took forever to snap a picture that could be seen! It was worth it. Please remember that all these picture were taken on the run with my iPhone...

We drove up to Bear Lake in the evening and it was a gorgeous drive. Bear Lake is over 9500 feet above sea level and is literally breathtaking! We unloaded Odie's power chair and she made the "walk" with us. We sat up there for quite a while and soaked in the beauty of God's creation. I mentioned earlier that we live our lives in a whirlwind as most folks do and truth be known we probably wouldn't be comfortable living any other way. But it has certainly been good for us to slow down a bit and catch our breath. I can't think of a better way to recharge than admiring the handiwork of God that is so evident. I think our down time is going to be good for us not only physically, but spiritually and emotionally.

We spent a whole day driving the 46 miles or so of the Trail Ridge Road. It goes across the park climbing to over 12000 feet above sea level. In fact over 8 miles of the road lies above 11000 feet. It has numerous pullouts, overlooks, roads that lead to other areas of the park, as well as the Alpine Visitors Center. The Visitor Center is about 11800 feet above sea level and it is a beautiful place.

When we finished the drive we had a picnic lunch that Kelly Jo had prepared and then we turned around and drove the 46 miles back to Estes Park. It was worth every mile!

On the west side of the park we saw more elk than we could count in the long wide valley that runs along the road. The valley is still above 7500-8000 feet and is full of elk. It is also a great place to see Moose but they alluded us today.

These 4 elk are the biggest we saw but unfortunately I wasn't able to get very close to them. The racks on these make the elk at the top of this page look like youngsters.

Dad has been updating you on the great time we are having in Colorado. I wanted to take a break from the fun yesterday to wish everyone a Happy Father's Day but my phone service wouldn't cooperate. Hopefully I can get this out today.

A Father is a very special person. I am blessed with a wonderful Father that loves me beyond measure! His love is much like that of our Heavenly Father. It keeps on giving even when there are times I'm undeserving.

Thank you Dad for always being there for me. "I love you more than a hog loves slop"!!!! Thanks for being a great role model. I hope to pattern my life after what you have taught me. Please forgive the fact that many times I am a slow learner! Thanks for not giving up one me. You have shown me through experience that we can make it if we try. You are the greatest!!!!!

Both my Papaw Eugene Boggs and Papaw Danny Morgan are #1 Papaws!!!!! They each are there for me when I need them even though hundreds of miles separate us most of the time. They are my encouragers. I am so proud to call them my Papaws!!!!

Oh yeah just for the record, both of them were my Papaw before anyone else had them. I am the #1 grandchild but I gladly share them with the 6 other grandchildren on either side of the family!!!! I love you both so very much! Thanks for the joy you bring into my life!

I hope all you Dads had a splendid day. Don't forget to tell those closest to how much they mean to you!!!
