5 Years And Still Thankful

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in from my Ohio Beach Cottage. I am happy to be home for a quick visit. We have a busy weekend and week on the books. Check back in the coming days to see our fun with family and friends.

June 1st was the 5th anniversary since I officially moved into my Beach Cottage. Here is a picture from that first night.

It does not feel like it has not been that long. I am so grateful for the beautiful place to call my home! In the last 5 years, so much has happened in the world and in my life. It has been a major blessing to have my own safe place!

The entire home is a series of miracles! I do not want to forget God’s provision! The love and support from my family and friends turned a dream into a reality. My heart still overflows with gratitude!

Many of you reading this post played a role in helping us build my home. Thank you one more time from the bottom of my heart. I thank God for you! I still pray for God to bless you abundantly!

This week marked another 5th house anniversary for me. August 17th, 2018. We were joined by many of the incredible people that help us build my home for house tours and dedication. It was a privilege to show off my finished miracle. We had a sweet dedication on my front porch!

That evening was fantastic. We had friends from near and far come to celebrate with us. Lots of prayers, money, blood, sweat, tears and work brought us to that moment. It was an extraordinary day of memories that still warms my heart!

I encourage you to read this archived blog post here. Dad summed up the wonderful dedication day in an excellent way. Below is just a sampling of photos from that night that are special to me.

I will never forget the love I experienced that day! I am blessed beyond measure! I just wanted to pause for a moment to thank God for His unspeakable gift of my beautiful home!

Thank you for joining me as I stroll down memory lane. Here is a small tour of the front portion of my home. This was recorded during our 2020 online covid revival.

See you next week.

Anniversary Report and Happy Birthday, KJo!

If you read Mile Markers Monday, then you know that Monday was KJo's wedding anniversary. She married the first time on June 29, 1985.😀 We have celebrated most of our wedding anniversaries in revival, camp meeting or youth camp so they are usually very low key. This year we moved uptown, even though we were in revival.

Pastor Tom Goodwin treated us to a Brazillian Steakhouse named Fogo De Chao. Wow!  We have been to Rodizio, another Brazillian Steakhouse, in Denver, Nashville and the Cincinnati area. We really love Rodizio and we hope to return there whenever possible, but Fogo De Chao is excellent too. It may be even more excellent.

It was awesome on Monday. The food was great, the service was great and they were taking all kinds of precautions to keep themselves and the customers safe. We really liked the whole experience.

The church presented us with a card and KJo with a beautiful bouquet of roses Monday night.

Here she is with her roses Thursday night with her new hat too.

The week of our anniversary is always an extra special week, because Kelly Jo has her birthday shortly after. We married four days before her birthday, so her birthday always follows close to the anniversary.

KJo's birthday is usually a muted celebration too, because we are usually in some type of meeting. This week we closed revival Wednesday so we do not have church tonight, although we do have a service this morning in India over Zoom.

The rest of the day will be available for KJo to eat, sleep and relax with family and friends. She loves to shop in the Dallas area, but now is not the best time to be mingling with crowds. She will probably skip the shopping.

Two years ago, Odie ask several folks to write something for KJo on her 50th birthday and we posted it all here on Mile Markers. I was reading through it this week and I was weeping most of the time. KJo has not only influenced our lives for the better, but she has impacted many other lives.

HERE is the link to that post. It is worth a few minutes of your time to read some of it. My brother Steve's tribute to Kelly Jo brings me to tears each time I read it. Some of the others do too.

Thank you for joining us today and we would love it if you would take a few minutes to send birthday greetings to our precious Kelly Jo.

Happy Birthday, KJo. I love you, sweetheart, and wish you all the best!
