Time For Some "Home Interior" NOT!!!

Odie and Kelly Jo have been gathering ideas and material for this moment for a long time. They have also been working with friends trying to pull all of this specific theme together. It is very rewarding for them to be closing in on the finished product.

All the pictures hanging in the house were taken by people we know. The pictures you will see were taken by Shavona Deane, Ron Conner and Odie took one too! We think that is a really neat aspect of the decor. We personally know the photographers.

These two are by Shavona

Closet in the 2nd bedroom

This is the master closet/safe room.

I am sure we will add and change the closets as we find out exactly what Odie needs in order to function, but this works for now. It is difficult to know what is best for Odie without some trial and error. Keep in mind she has been living in and RV the last 16 years!

Odie has 120" of hanging space in this closet which is about three times the amount the whole family uses in the bus. Plus she has 72" of hanging space in the closet of bedroom number 2. She should be able to muddle through and get by.

This is her storm bed/chair combined with some very nice storage.

We have more storage in the closet because we hope to eliminate the need for dressers in the bedroom. We want Odie to have plenty of room to move through the rooms with her wheelchair. Dressers along the walls in her room give her more targets. The less targets the better!

There are only two pieces of unpainted wood in the whole house. Odie wanted all the wood to be simple and white to enhance the beach cottage theme. She made two exceptions and they are both in the master bath. I installed them Friday.

The first on is a small vertical board with boat cleat hooks next to her shower entrance. This will serve as a hook for towels and clothes.

The second unpainted board is installed behind the commode and next to the sink counter. It has has five decorative and useful hooks.

The two boards have an interesting story and that is why we incorporated them into the house decor. One of these boards came from my grandparents log cabin house in Kentucky and the other came from my Grandpa's barn. They are rough cut lumber with the saw marks clearly visible and the nail holes exposed.

Grandpa Godfrey Isaacs died in 1985 a few months before Odie was born. Grandma Bessie Isaacs died when Odie was two. We have no way of knowing when the piece of wood was added to their house, but the original house was built in 1937. That makes the wood very special in our eyes.

Kelly Jo applied a coat of oil modified polyurethane to make the boards a little smoother, but I doubt they need any protection from moisture. They have been on the outside of the house and barn for decades. Pretty cool.

In the picture above you saw the grab bars in the master bath. The small bath got one too. I had blocked for all of these in the framing stage.

It is beginning to take shape although it is a fluid process and I am already seeing things in different places even after I take pictures. This is what it looked like Sunday night.

How do you like that? Odie likes it. Kelly Jo likes it. That makes me love it!

Odie has a few more great pictures to hang, but she does not want the walls to look cluttered. She and Kelly Jo are searching for the right places and may switch some of them out from time to time.

Thank you for dropping by today.

Weekend Woundup and Weview August 6, 2018

That was a super great weekend! We accomplished a lot, had great visits with family and friends, enjoyed wonderful church services and ate tremendous meals. Yes, I say that makes a super great weekend!

I posted a picture yesterday of a wall of decorations in the house. Kelly Jo, Odie, my Dad and Mom, cousin Lisa, my sister Theresa and her daughter Lauren tackled a lot of that on Thursday. KJ and Odie worked much more on it Friday and Saturday, but Thursday really brought things together. It is looking great. I will try to post more pictures later in the week.

While that was going on I installed the shelving and other paraphernalia in the closets. Steve and Lisa helped me put together one piece for the master closet and then Lisa cleaned up after us.

If you remember, Odie's master closet also doubles as a safe room during storms. The piece we assembled in the picture above will give Odie a place to rest a little while if she needs to go into the safe room at night.

She tells us that the reason she can not walk is because she slept on the floor so much as we traveled the country when she was a kid. We are trying to help out all we can to keep her off the floor!

Friday during the day I finished the closets, installed some grab bars and hung a few other things. Like I said, more pictures of that tomorrow.

Friday evening we went to Hillsboro along with my parents and Steve. We went to the house of Kelly's parents to celebrate her Dad's 70th birthday. We had a great evening.

Saturday morning we had a super visit with long time friends from Kentucky. Odie a has been coordinating with Bro. Ron Conner for several months on some decorations that would lend themselves to her beach house theme. Bro. Ron and Sis. Deb came to the house Saturday bearing all manners of treasures fit for a beach queen.

Bro. Ron is an expert in many areas and one of those is shell collecting. He knew exactly what Odie was looking for and he brought beautiful specimens for her to choose from along with a picture Odie had chosen and a few items they had purchased.

The girls are still working on placing those decorations. I will try to include pictures tomorrow.

Of course, we took them to drink a little salsa too!

Sunday was a big day too. I have preached the Homecoming service in Sharonville, Ohio for Pastor Randy Brown a few times, but it seems we are never in Ohio at the right time for it unless I am scheduled to preach it. Yesterday was the Homecoming and we were free for the morning. It seemed like the right thing to do.

We went and loved it just like we knew we would. They had recently remodeled the church and it looks great.

We were blessed to see many friends Sunday, but it was especially good to see Bro. Joel and Sis. Amber Isham. We stayed and visited with them all afternoon and hated to leave.

That pretty much wraps up our wonderful weekend. I hope your weekend was good too. Thanks for spending time here with us. Tomorrow I am preparing a post with more pictures of the interior of Odie's house.

Our View Out The Front Window

Our view out the front bus window this morning is the inside of the barn doors. You have seen that view before so today I give you a glimpse of things coming together in the house.

Kelly Jo, Odie and several family members and friends have been working to put the finishing touches on the decorating and it is looking good. We will have more pictures forthwith.

Here are links to our posts this last week. I hope you enjoy them.

May God bless you with a great Sunday.

What Happened in Juneau Stays in Juneau

Hey Friends,

This Odie coming to you from Ohio. This week has been full of projects. We have been able to cross some things off the to do list. I am settling into the house that was built for me to live in. I am loving my little beach cottage.

Vacation was amazing. I was able to visit the 49th state out of the 50 states in the United States. Also it was my 49th state to visit.

I can not really describe the beauty of Alaska! I can not settle on the correct adjectives to use. You really have to see the beauty to understand for yourself. I will have pictures to share but I am still working to gather them all.

The main way that I capture photos is through my iPhone. My iPhone 8+ loved Juneau, Alaska so much that it decided to jump out of my hand and into the ocean and stay there forever! I was devastated to watch it fall several stories to a watery grave. It was a sickening and sinking feeling to watch it disappear!

That night I cried many tears! But my family consoled me. It was just a horrible accident! I admit I could have been more careful to avoid it. I had been warned, but my Dad was awesome. He hugged me, dried my tears and assured that money could replace my phone. I am glad I carry insurance on my phone.

We still had several days to enjoy vacation. I was determined not to let the sad loss of my phone ruin it. After a late night trip to get a Diet Coke and ice cream I was ready to laugh again.

I wish I could have woke up and my nightmare be gone. Sadly it did not go that way. I will not ever hear the end of the jokes, but I deserve them. I am actually dreading some of the texts that this post will generate!

If you tried to reach me between July 20th and July 31st I probably did not receive your message. I was expecting some very important tests and know that I missed them. Please call or text again.

Before I close for today, two very special people celebrated birthdays this week. I want to wish them a Happy Belated Birthday here.

My Mamaw, Martha Boggs had a birthday on Monday. Mamaw, I love you so much! You are amazing and I am blessed to call you Mamaw. Thank you for everything thing you do for me and our family!

Yesterday was a big day for my Papaw Danny Morgan. He reached 70 years young milestone. Papaw, you are totally awesome! I can not say thank you enough for all the work that you have put into my home! You brought my dreams to life. I love you so much!!

Thank you for stopping by to visit with me. Have a great weekend.
