Our View In Denali National Park #4

Today we have a few pictures from our visit to the fabulous Denali National Park and Preserve. It was amazing. We drove from Anchorage to Denali. It was a gorgeous drive.

Our first glimpse of Mt. McKinley was from 80 miles away. It is in the background peaking through the clouds.

Kelly Jo was taking pictures with Odie's good camera. We will post some of those great pictures of the whole trip when we have reliable internet for a good stretch of time.

One of the first things we saw in Denali was a Grizzly. Kelly Jo's Dad had quite a struggle to bring it under control.

After that the Grizzly was very docile.

While in Denali we stayed at a quaint little place called White Moose Lodge in Healy about 10 miles north of the park entrance. It was very nice, quiet and clean. The one drawback that would normally not be a problem was the lack of air conditioning. It was much warmer than average during our stay so it was warm in the evening.

All day Monday we were in Denali National Park and Preserve. This picture was taken Monday morning from my brother's motel room at 2:40 AM.

The main attraction in Denali is Mt. McKinley. It was a rare clear day to see the mountain which is the highest point in North America.

It was a great day in Denali! I hope you are enjoying the pitures.

  1. Awesome pictures! Makes me want to go back to Alaska. My son was stationed at Fort Wainwright, just outside of Fairbanks. I went & stayed with them in January & February of 2008 for the birth of a Granddaughter. Then went back up the last of May and stayed 2 weeks when my Daughter-in-law became very ill.
