Woo-hoo! Sauerkraut! Sis. Shea Boyd prepared low fat hot dogs, chili Frito pie with sauerkraut as a bonus! Wow! It was so good.

Honestly all the food has been outstanding. The ladies of the church have been preparing food for lunch and Sis. Boyd has been preparing food for after church. We are still trying to eat reasonable and lose some weight but it has not been easy here. Of course, you know me, it has not been easy any where.

We had another good service at Sterlington Holiness Tabernacle last night. We love hearing Sis. Shea and the girls sing and they have been tearing it up every night this week. I asked Pastor Boyd to have them to sing each night and he has honored my request. Praise God! It has been so good and a great boost to the services. We have two more services this week and we are expecting great things.

I appreciate all the outpouring of prayer for our friends back in Ohio. It is comforting that you all are willing to pray for them when you do not even know them. Odie found the link to the obituary for Sue Allen's Daddy. His name is Lowell Johnson. Please continue to pray for them.

We lost another friend Wednesday. Pastor Mike Holden from Texarkana, Arkansas passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Wednesday morning. Bro. Mike was a good guy that we have known for many years. Please pray for Bro. Mike Holden's family and his church.

Thank you for reading.

A Prayer Request For Friends

I believe that God is able to do what we ask him to do. I believe that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much or is a great help and advantage. All things are possible to him that believes!

Although we know of several families in need of help right now, I would like to ask you to especially pray for one specific family today.

I mentioned in this post in December that we have super great neighbors next to the barn we purchased back in Ohio. Donny and Sue have lived right next to the property their whole married life. Sue was raised in the next house over. Her father stilled lived there in the house where she was raised.

Monday evening Sue's Daddy passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. She loved her Daddy so much and you would often see them in town together during the day. Please pray for Sue and Donny and their three children. To say that they are devastated is an understatement. God will be their only true comfort and right now that comfort probably seems so far away. Let's believe that God will help them abundantly in the next few days.

I am aware that most of you reading do not know this family and may never meet this family but thank you for joining together with us to ask God to help them. We often receive several texts and emails confirming that you are praying when we express a need here. Thank you for that. Thank you for the compassion and tender spirit toward those in need of prayer that you do not even know.

God is helping us here in Sterlington, Louisiana and we are having a good time with Pastor Boyd and his church. I will post pictures and a more thorough report later but today I wanted to focus on the prayer request for Donny and Sue Allen and their family.

God bless you for reading.

Bro. Ralph Cox - Holiness Messenger

I wrote a tribute to Bro. Ralph Cox the week he passed away in August 2014.

The One and Only Ralph Cox

There were many things about Bro. Ralph that I did not write about him in that post. You can only fit so much into one little ol' blog post. One of the things I did not mention is that Bro. Ralph was the editor of the Holiness Messenger for many, many, many years.

The Holiness Messenger is a paper published for the Holiness people since 1953. Bro. Cox became the editor in 1958 and was involved with the paper until his last days. Bro. Bill Parks was a young preacher under Bro. Cox. He helped Bro. and Sis. Cox with the Holiness Messenger and has been the driving force behind the paper for well over 20 years. He has also pastored the church that Bro. Cox pastored, the House of Prayer in Tulsa, since 1992.

Bro. Parks wrote a very moving tribute to Bro. Ralph Cox in the recent issue of the Holiness Messenger. I picked up a copy of the Messenger Sunday at Sterlington Holiness Tabernacle and was thrilled to see it.

The honor he gives Bro. Cox and the love he has for him shines through very clearly. It is now online and you can read it HERE. If you knew Bro. Cox at all, I know you will be blessed to read Bro. Parks' tribute.

I wept as I read the words that Bro. Bill Parks wrote for his mentor and friend. I even wept when I read the words that I wrote back in August. It was not necessarily the words but the real man that inspired those words and thousands of other things that could have been said. We lost a man of God and a real friend when we lost Bro. Ralph Cox.

Sunday in Sterlington, Louisiana

We left Sweeny, Texas Saturday morning at 8:00 AM. It started raining in Sweeny right after we left and rained there the whole day and Saturday night. It has pretty much rained in Sterlington since we arrived but we drove 8 hours, 420 miles, with NO rain at all. That was soooooo nice! It was a very good and refreshing change from the last several travel days.

Another good and refreshing change is the direction of diesel prices. They are not near as low as gasoline but I am very thankful to see the diesel price coming down. I paid $2.96 per gallon with my Flying J/Pilot discount on Saturday.

That is the cheapest I have paid since June 24, 2010 in Butte, Montana when I paid the same price.

154 gallons would have cost $620 just a few months ago. That is a huge change!

We started revival Sunday morning at Sterlington Holiness Tabernacle. We love being with Pastor Tracy Boyd, his family and his church. We had two great services yesterday and we are expecting five more great services this week.

Our last visit to Sterlington was for revival on the first Easter in their new church. It is an absolutely beautiful church. Now the Sunday school rooms are finished as well. We will try to get some more pictures before the week is out.

I have an update on my iPhone battery. If you remember I spent a morning at the mall getting a complimentary battery replacement on my 25 month old iPhone 5. I have good news. It is working fine. I took it off the charger yesterday morning about 7:00 AM and at 11:00 PM last night the battery was at 50%. That is absolutely amazing when compared to the last several months. I was putting it on the charger nearly every time I sat down. I am now free at last!

I hope you all had a great weekend. Thank you for stopping in and sitting a spell.

View Out The Front Window January 11, 2015

Although we arrived in Sterlington, Louisiana before dark Saturday, by the time we were set up and had completed sound check it was pretty dark. Here is the view out the front window of the BoggsMobile.

And here is the view out the front door.

We are so glad to be back at Sterlington Holiness Tabernacle for revival. We are planning to get started this morning. Thanks for praying for us.
