Our Weekend In The Rear View Mirror 10/14/19

Before I get into the weekend, let me take care of a pressing matter today. Today, October 14th is Odie's birthday. Happy, Happy Birthday Odie! I hope you have a super great day. Your Mother and I love you very much.

Odie is in Ohio today and I suppose this is the first birthday that we have not physically spent with her. We miss her, but we know she is having a wonderful time at home with family.

Weekend
A busy weekend is a happy weekend. If that is not our official motto, we should consider it!😀

We had planned to leave Bond Camp Meeting Thursday afternoon, but we could not pull ourselves away. Staying over until Friday meant we had to roll out of bed early, shake a leg and get with it. We were up, cranked, unhooked and wiggled out of our parking spot by 6:40.

It is not at that far from Bond to London, but bus time is a little slower than car time. The bus was parked at First Pentecostal and the Green Machine was trying to leave London before 9:00 AM. I say it was trying to leave, because our stomach's led us into Frisch's for breakfast.

An hour or so up the road, we were exiting I-75 at Berea and into the northern edge of Jackson County to visit my Mother's home place up in the holler. For those of you that so not know the word holler, it is the same as a hollow.

We wanted to see the work that has been done up there and to take some pictures. Here are a few pictuers and I will have more about that later.

After some time there, the Green Machine headed north again and turned in to Acapulco in Lebanon, Ohio on its own about 3:00 PM. Soon, my Dad and Mom joined us for a little salsa.

We spent the evening at Odie's house. Kelly was in the barn retrieving winter clothes and I mowed Odie's front yard. Rain has been pretty non existant the last several weeks so the rest of the grass was brown.

Saturday morning was dedicated to spending a little time at the 50th annual Sauerkraut Festival in Waynesville. We have been absent since 2004 and we had a lot of eating to make up for.

We left the festival, went by Odie's house to pack up our stuff and clean up a bit before hitting the road again. Google Maps helped us dodge a traffic jam in Cincy and we sailed all the way to London with no problems. It was about 6:15 when we pulled in and began loading in sound equipment.

It was 9:30 by the time we finished sound check and went into the bus. Sound check is usually not that long of a process, but we were visiting with Pastor Jarvis and Kelly Jo's parents that came to see us. Yay! It made for a wonderful evening.

Sunday morning Homecoming was a beautiful service and fantastic meal. Although we have preached here several times, this is the first time we have preached their Homecoming. We enjoyed it so very much.

These people are so kind and welcoming to us and we can not help but love them in return. It is not hard to want to come back again and again. We appreciate Pastor Vernon Jarvis for having us.

Sunday evening, Odie crawled in the car with KJ's parents and went back to Ohio with them. That has been part of the plan for months. She was origonally going home for a wedding and now she plans to hunt and spend some time at her house. She plans to fly to meet us in Montana in two weeks, which means she bypasses the 2500 mile drive too. Smart girl.

Sunday night we drove the car about 6 miles south to Liberty Holiness Tabernacle to preach for Pastor Lester Carpenter. He had a great crowd including visitors from Bond and First Pentecostal. I sure appreciate Bro. Carpenter for inviting us. We enjoyed the service and fellowship very much.

Our photographer is in Ohio and we did not pick up the slack very well. We took one picture of me and Bro. Lester Carpenter.

That wraps us a busy and happy weekend. Thank you for joining us today.

Davy
