Sounds Like Fun!

It is not all fun and games out here on the road, but by God's grace, we can handle a few "First World" problems. Lest you think it is all Mexican food, terrific weather and awesome services, we let you see some of the bumps along the road.

Many of you may remember the astonishing gift of sound that came to us through Ben Isaacs for City Reach and beyond.

We have used and continue to use this incredible sound system under the tent and in churches all over the USA. We set it up and used it for the very first time in February 2016 at the House of Prayer in Gainesville, Texas where we have been in revival this week.

It is also the first place we loaded it in the BoggsMobile.

During tent revival season we carry some of the system in the tent trailer. Last year we added two very fine Meyer speakers that are smaller and self powered. That was also made possible by the kindness of Ben Isaacs.

With those two new speakers in our sound arsenal, we decided this year to leave most of the tent revival system behind until tent revivals begin later this year. We are fine with our smaller system except for tent revival and larger crowds in bigger churches.

That was working great until one of our old Mackies quit. Then one of the new Meyers had to be sent in for warranty work. We were still Okay because I had picked up another used Mackie 450 cheap at Guitar Center last fall. Until that new to us Mackie went out Sunday morning.😦

No problem, we had purchased the warranty with the used Mackie. Yes, problem, the Guitar Center warranty is administered by the same people that insured Odie's lost phone last summer. The same company that caused Kelly Jo to be without a phone for 7 days and Odie to be without a phone for 24 days and cost me over 20 hours on the phone.

Yep, I could sense that dealing with this issue was going to be fun.

The warranty states they will either repair the speaker, replace the speaker or refund ALL of the money I spent on the speaker. I am not too far from a Guitar Center this week so I was ready to zip the Mackie down there for repair. Except the warranty company would not authorize a diagnosis, would not authorize the repair and would not authorize a replacement. They would refund PART of the money, shorting me $90 and only refunding the money after the speaker has been shipped to them and only in the form of a Guitar Center gift card.

I hate to lose $90 as much as the next guy, but the worst part is time elapsing and being short one more speaker. However, there is a bright spot. I will have the other Meyer back soon and that will make all things well. They Meyer warranty is handled in house and is superb! Thanks again to Ben Isaacs and Meyer for that!

I have nothing bad to say about Guitar Center. They have done what they could. The only fault I find with them is using the same company for warranties/insurance that AT&T uses. You better believe I will be looking closely in the future as to who is standing behind the warranty.

When I told the representative on the phone that I thought I should get all the money back as the warranty stated, she offered to refund the money I spent on the warranty. Then I could keep the non-functioning speaker "as is". I almost took her up on it as a matter of principal.

Are we having fun yet? Yes, we are! It could be worse, you know. I could be pastoring a church. That sounds like fun.

Thank you for joining the frivolity!

No Vintage View Today

Sorry, no Vintage View Vednesday post today. I was under the weather Tuesday evening. I did feel better during and after church, but I am not going to be able to stay up and put the post together. I may be up early in the morning. If I am, then I will post the Vintage View. Hopefully, I will Not be up early. I need to sleep this off if possible.

Pray for us all. We do not need to be sick.

How Do I Leave A Comment?

We appreciate comments here on Mile Markers, but we do not live and die by comments. We post pictures and commentary here to make written and visual evidence of where we have been and what we have done. If we need to know something about our lives, or the BoggsMobile or a church where we preached revival in October of 2010, we can find it right here.

Mile Markers serves us as our own personal journal and travelogue.

Mile Markers is also a great way to keep a few members of our family and some friends informed as to the daily events in our lives. It is surprising and pretty neat that 400-500 other friends also tune in and read on a daily or near daily basis. Thank you for that.

We encourage comments and we love comments, but comments or the lack of comments does not change things around here. We keep posting pictures and stories and spiritual truths whether there is a big stir in the comments or not.

However, some of the changes in Google have made posting comments a little confusing. We hear quite regularly, "How do I leave a comment?" or "I tried to leave a comment, but it never showed up." I have taken a few screenshots of the actual comment process from a desktop view. Maybe it will help.

If you want to comment or read comments click on the word comment at the bottom of the post.

Then you type your comment in the dialog box or click on reply under an existing comment.

Then hit Publish.

You may need to select your profile. It may be a Google ID or as Anonymous.

After you click "publish" you may be asked to prove you are not a robot

Then scroll down and click on "publish" again. I think this may be the step that is often missed, because you can not see the publish button without scrolling down.

If the comment was submitted correctly, it will either say "Your comment was published" or "Your comment will be published after moderation."

That is how it is done. Posting a comment from a mobile phone is very similar. The main thing that hangs people up is completing the CAPTCHA and then moving on down to publish.

Of course, you can also scroll down to the bottom of the page on the desktop view and fill out the blog contact form. That is emailed directly to us. We receive a lot of notes through that as well.

Thank you for stopping by today.

Our Weekend In The Rearview Mirror

You remember when I had to have a crown re-fastened to a tooth before we went to Nigeria? I went back to the dentist that put it on originally. Of course, the crown falling off was all my fault so I had to pay to have them do it again.

Two months go by...

Wednesday morning, it fell off again. Pastor Boyd called his dentist to see if he could fit me in. He did not have room in his schedule but an associate dentist in his office was able to see me. I went in first thing Thursday morning and Dr. Mallory Debnam fixed me up. The only picture I got was the front of the building.

Friday we finished our Mexican food tour with a return visit to Amigo's. The chips were great, the salsa was good and the tacos were excellent! I think Amigo's takes the prize. I loved the chips and the salsa at Fiesta Linda and the street tacos were very, very good. But the street tacos at Amigo's were even better than very, very good and they have Chorizo Tacos too. Fiesta Linda does not.

Friday night was the last night of revival in Sterlington. We appreciate Pastor Tracy Boyd and his church having us for revival. We enjoyed the food, fellowship and fun tremendously. We love these folks and we loved revival!

Here are a few Friday night pictures.

After church, we loaded everything in the BoggsMobile and hit the road. I had already emptied the tanks, unhooked the water hose and hooked up the car before church. We were rolling by 10:20.

Most of the drive was uneventful although it was raining much of the way. We were driving west into thunderstorms and the wind really picked up the last 40 miles. The wind made driving unpleasant and I am very glad we did not have to contend with it long.

We droved 274 miles that night to a Walmart in Terrell, Texas. It took us nearly five hours including a fuel stop toward the end of the drive.

We laid down about 4:00 AM for a few hours rest. Terrell, Texas was not a random destination. It was on our route to Gainesville, but it crossed the route of the Isaacs as well. They were singing with some other groups in a very nice school performing arts center. We were not staying for the concert, but we did take time for lunch and a few hours of visiting.

We had a wonderful day, but we took no pictures at all. How in the world did that happen? Perhaps we dreamed the whole visit. Without pictures, maybe the visit did not happen at all.

We left Terrell about 5:00 PM and rolled into the House of Prayer in Gainesville, Texas right on schedule at 7:00 PM. Guess who was waiting for us at the House of Prayer?

Yep, our dear friends from Pauls Valley, Oklahoma Bro. Bruce and Sis. Priscilla Mayhan.

They helped us load in and get parked. Then we moved the fellowship to Chili's and then back to the church to get set up and do a quick sound check. It was awesome to have our friends with us. They were even able to stay over for service Sunday morning and lunch. It is always wonderful to see them. I am sure we will probably see them down the road soon.

We had two great services to begin revival Sunday. We love to sing and preach here. This is one of the best places to preach.

Our first revival here was in February 2003, nearly 16 ago. A young man was celebrating his 16th birthday Sunday and I think we were here for the first Sunday he attended after he was born. Time is getting away from us, but we sure are having fun.

We have enjoyed a bunch of great times during all these years. These saints have become friends and family to us.

We are only here until Wednesday this week. We are expecting the Lord to help us in these next three nights. If you are in the area, come see us. Pastor Dennis King and the whole church would be thrilled if you could come.

Thanks for reading today. I hope you had a good weekend.

Hey! Where Is My Wheelchair?

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in from the BoggsMobile. I hope you all had a great week. My week was wonderful! The revival at Sterlington Holiness Tabernacle was so sweet.  The entire week the Lord met us and touched many people. I praise God for reviving me this week!

Our family always enjoys our visits with Pastor T.D. and Sis. Shea and family!!  We laughed about our past good times and made new memories. Thank you to our friends in Sterlington for your kindness and hospitality. We love you all!

Today the BoggMobile has carried us to Texas. We are looking forward to being in Gainesville, Texas and then we will move down to Sweeny, Texas. We are looking forward to seeing friends and family and good revivals this week. In Gainesville you will find us at House of Prayer Assembly on Sunday thru Wednesday. Then we will transition Sweeny, Texas at Full Gospel Lighthouse starting Friday night.

Are you ready for another laughable “Odie Moment”?

I use a wheelchair for mobility when out of the BoggsMobile. My wheelchairs and I are tight we go everywhere together, well almost everywhere.

I have been known before to forget to make sure my wheelchair is loaded in the car. I accept responsibility, it is my job to make sure I have my correct mobility devices with me. It usually happens when I transfer from the power chair to the car. Last week in Mississippi I had a dumb moment.

Last week after riding in Pastor Tim Cauley’s vehicle I used my manual wheelchair to transfer to the Green Machine. I was waiting in the car for Mom and decided to use that moment to make an important phone call. I shut the car door to block the wind while I was on the phone. When Mom came to the car I was excited about the details of my phone call. I was discussing the phone call and forgot to remind Mom about the wheelchair, sitting right outside the door on my side of the car.

We proceeded to drive 3O minutes into Mobile, Alabama to a couple stores. We arrived at our first stop and realized my wheelchair was still sitting in the church parking lot!  Oh my goodness I felt so dumb! All I could do was laugh at my silly mistake.

I had to sit in the car at Burlington while Mom ran in quickly to pick up her needed items. Our next stop was Walmart and thankfully they had a manual wheelchair available for use. That chair was a tank and I was not able to self drive the chair so it was an adventure getting where we need to go. It also was a bumpy ride. I missed my chair!

When we pulled back up to the BoggsMobile I was happy to see my chariot waiting right where I left it parked. Since then I double and triple check to make sure the chair is loaded in the correct place.

I want to say I am so thankful to those responsible for creating wheelchairs and mobility aids. They help make my life so much easier, especially lightweight wheelchairs, IF I remember to take them with me.

I sometimes get questions about my exact wheelchair. My current manual wheelchair is the second one I have had in this design. We love that it is lightweight, compact and comfortable. It is less than 20 lbs without the footrests.

It is also very affordable compared to a lot of other chairs! I have purchased mine on Amazon. My chairs get daily use and my first chair this design lasted four years.  It has my stamp of approval. It the Ergo Flight Ultra Lightweight by Karman

Thanks for stopping by visiting with me. Maybe my craziness brought a smile to your face. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
