Vintage View Vednesday - Christmas 2003

Thank you for responding to the prayer request I posted a couple of days ago. Pastor Charles Spencer is much improved, by God's grace, and we are very thankful for that. Please continue to pray for him and his family and his church.

Vintage View

I am sticking to the Christmas theme for this week's Vintage View. Today I found pictures from Christmas 2003. We were finishing our first year back on the road and it was our first Christmas at home since 1998. It was a special time for us, to say the least. We sure enjoyed being home with our families.

This first batch of pictures comes from the Morgan Christmas. They were taken on Christmas Eve at the old home place. We always have a blast in Hillsboro with Kelly Jo's family.

It is amazing to see how much these kids have grown and changed.

These final pictures were taken on Christmas day. We celebrated that year in my brother Tommy's basement. I think that is correct. That is what it looks like in the pictures.

There has been a lot of changing from these pictures too.

I do not know if this is the couch or not, but I remember a funny story from that day. My brother Steve and I had been sitting on a couch together for a few hours. We are both pretty "healthy" men and I am sure the couch was straining under the load. I am also sure that more than one joke had been made about the couch holding both of us.

After we both stood up, our skinny brother in law Jay, sat down on the couch by himself and it collapsed under him. I laughed until I cried and still do!

A Millikin Christmas Service

Today was a Millikin kind of day and we enjoyed every minute of it.

The Millikin's are on their Christmas tour and were in our general area this weekend. They were in northwest Dayton Sunday night and in the Cincinnati area Monday night. That put them in the perfect position to meet for lunch at Acapulco in Lebanon. That is exactly what they did!

It was great to see our dear friends and to have some time to visit with them. There are few things better than good friends, good Mexican food and super great salsa. That is a combination you can not find every day, but we sure found it yesterday.

We appreciate them taking time to eat lunch with us and share some of their time with our family. These are very precious people and we are blessed to have them as our friends.

We parted ways in the afternoon, but we were not through with the Millikin family. We had been planning to drive to Cincinnati to hear them Monday evening and everything worked out for us to be able to go. They were at Free Pentecostal Church of God in Mt. Healthy and it was a wonderful service.

There was a big crowd gathered from churches all around. We enjoyed seeing friends and soaking in the ministry of the Millikin family. They blessed us all with their singing, music and testimonies.

Bro. Jimmy Millikin is my favorite evangelist and he demonstrated why again last night. He spoke a perfect word to our hearts and eased the Word into our spirits with great music and singing. It was tremendous.

After visiting for a while after church we stopped on the way home for a bite to eat with my brother Steve and his wife Karen. That visit capped a perfect Millikin Christmas night.

Weekend Woundup and Weview

Prayer Request

I am going to begin this post with a prayer request. We received word Sunday morning that Pastor Charles Spencer from Riverdale, California suffered a heart attack Saturday night. They said he had a stent put in and was stable in ICU.

Later in the day, Bro. Dale Spencer text a list of specific prayer requests for Pastor Spencer. They were asking prayer for his kidney function, blood sugar levels, lungs, blood pressure, heart pumping efficiency and oxygen levels. 

Folks all over the country have been praying. Please join in with prayer for Bro. Spencer, his wife, family and church.

Weekend

I suppose this was a typical weekend for us at home. Not that we know much about typical weekends.😀

We were working at Odie's house Friday evening when Lisa arrived to take Odie to meet family for a pre-arranged dinner at Skyline. She rolled right out and left us working and visiting with Steve in her house. There was nothing to do, but act like we had good sense and stay all evening!

She did take a few pictures at Skyline to share with us.

Saturday we worked more on the internet in Odie's home. The internet company did their part Friday. I needed to put ends on two Cat 6 cables and I had never done that before. Gary Coffman had a crimping tool and Youtube provided the instructions. After much hand-wringing, I waded in and put on both ends. 

Do you know what happened? It seems like I placed all 8 wires on each connector in the proper places and crimped them correctly. How could that be? It works, so I must have done it!

Sunday was a day for church, salsa, a long nap and more church! What a glorious, beautiful and wonderful day! 

We went to Dryden Rd, our home church, both services and we enjoyed them both very much. Pastor Gary Lee preached Sunday morning and Pastor Bennie Sutherland preached Sunday night. I seldom have a Sunday when I am not preaching and I sure enjoyed this one. 

I loved listening to someone else preach with no pressure on me. That afforded me the opportunity for the long nap between services. That part was really good too.

This morning we begin another exciting week at the Lazy OD Ranch. We will be on the road before we know it. That means it is about time to start knocking out our list of things that need to be done to roll.

Christmas At The Farmhouse 2018

Hey Friends, 

Happy Saturday, this is Odie checking in. Can you believe this is the third Saturday in December? Christmas is almost here!

Together Again 

I am happy to report that my family has been reunited. I was thrilled on Monday night to hear the Green Machine and the BoggsMobile pull into the ranch. 

It was even better to actually see my parents home again! I am so grateful for the technology that allowed us to stay in contact when we were separated.  It helped me to know that everything was ok with them. Several people contacted me to check on me while my parents were gone and I really appreciate your concern! My family here at home were great too. They made sure that I had exactly what I needed. 

Week of Accomplishments 

Before I get to the main topic of this post I would like to give two girls a shout-out. This week two of my wonderful cousins completed their college classes. I am super excited for them to reach this huge milestone. 

Kayla Jo Morgan now has a degree in Chemistry. She definitely has the brains in the cousins crew in the Morgan family. Now Kayla is onto the job hunt! We are praying that God leads her to the right job. 

Mom and I met up with Kayla and several of our family to celebrate her last day of college. We had a wonderful evening celebrating with her!

This was also the final week of college for our Baby Lauren Osborn. Her major is Retail Marketing. She really has a talent for retail and enjoys the industry. She wants to work behind the scenes. 

Lauren begins training next week for an internship. Soon she will be spending 4 months in Maui for the internship. Please join us in praying that all will go well for her!

Both Kayla and Lauren will graduate from their respective colleges in May. I can not believe they will soon be college graduates. I am super proud of them! I love you girls more than you will ever know!

Christmas at The Farmhouse

I also was able to help decorate some at the farmhouse in Hillsboro this year too. I love Gran and Papaw's new home! It was fun to decorate it for Christmas. Gran wanted me to capture some photos of the memories created that night. It was a fun evening spent with family. 

Each year there is a race between Uncle Danny and Aunt Kim to find the trumpet and blow it first. Uncle Danny was the 2018 winner.
