#12 Weekend Woundup and Weview

We have had  a super great weekend in California. Odie mentioned Saturday that we spent Thursday morning at the Reagan Library and Museum. That was a tremendous day. The library is situated on top of a hill in beautiful county. It was a perfect day to view the amazing scenery AND the library was great too. We have quite a few pictures from there that I will try to post later in the week.

We are parked only a few miles from the Pacific Ocean but we have been so busy that we had not even had a glimpse of the water. Friday morning we decided to remedy that injustice and swung down to see it on our way to explore revival possibilities and to meet more folks.

We drove the road over the mountains through Topanga State Park area and hit the ocean just west of Santa Monica on Highway 1. It is amazing how the mountains run right up to the ocean out here. There is no gradual leveling to the water. You are driving through mountains and the BAM, there it is!

The water looked cold but there was no way to get Odie down there so we did not touch it for ourselves. Maybe we will find another place for her to touch it while we are here.

Saturday morning we wanted to roam the streets of Los Angeles, keeping our eyes open for ministry opportunities and we could think of no better place to find several thousand people than the Fashion District. This area covers about 90 blocks and we barely scratched the surface. We had a good time shopping, eating and interacting with people.

We have several pictures from that day too and I will try to post then later as well.

Sunday morning we left the BoggsMobile at 7:15 and returned over 14 hours later. We were in three services and met dozens of people and had a great day. It was long, but it was great. We also visited a possible tent site that we inquired about last Wednesday. It seems like a perfect site and I wanted to see what it looked like on the weekend. I like it even better now!

We spoke to the lady in charge Wednesday and then emailed her a formal request that night. We have yet to hear anything but it is in God's capable hands. I want to do a City Reach here and I have time to do it in late April or early May, but I do not want to force open a door. God knows where we need to be and when we need to be there. That is enough!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Thanks for reading.

Historic and Holiness Heroes

Hello Friends,

This is Odie once again checking in from the beautiful state of California. We have had a great week in the Los Angeles area. So many people here need God and we are trying to spread the good news of the Gospel to as many as we can. I pray we can be an instrument to point them toward God in some way.

Historic Hero

Thursday morning I was able to check something off my bucket list. We are parked in an RV Park in north Los Angeles and our days and nights have been pretty full all week. Dad surprised me one day by announcing we were taking a few hours to go some where that I have wanted to go for years.

We visited The Ronald Reagan Presidiential Library and Museum. We are parked 26 miles away and Dad figured we may never be this close again. I am so glad we were able to go and enjoy the museum and library on an absolutely beautiful California Day. It was perfect.

President Ronald Reagan was one of our nations greatest presidents. He was president in 1985 when I was born and I am proud to be a "Reagan Baby". We are Reagan fans in my family. For years I have loved reading history about President and Mrs. Reagan and I have wanted to visit the library.

We had a great day Thursday. Thanks, Dad, for making it possible for me to go and experience this unforgettable place. We all took pictures and I will let Dad post more of the pictures in a future post. You can read more on The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Library website.

I think President Ronald Wilson Reagan is someone worth admiring in our nation's history. He accomplished many great things as Governor and President. He is an Historic Hero. But Historic Heroes are not my only heroes.

Holiness Heroes

In January I wrote about two great people that I count as friends and heroes. You can read that post by clicking on the highlighted words in the last sentence. Today I wanted to tell you about another one of my heroes,

Our 40th President Ronald Reagan, was an outstanding Californian! One of my holiness heroes is another Californian. Sis. Cindy Burris of Atwater, California is no stranger to our blog readers. She may never be found in our American History books but she should be! Sis Cindy has left her mark on many families including our Boggs Family History. I can not imagine our lives without this precious lady.

Sis. Cindy is a wonderful wife to Bro Cliff and a loving Mother to Pastor Jared (Sis. Valerie), Bro. Benji (Sis. Laura) and Sis. Miriam (Bro. Jake). She is also an amazing Grandma to all of her ever growing number of grandchildren. I have even adopted "Grandma Cindy" as my California Grandma.

Countless people call her friend. You know that to have friends you must show yourself friendly. Sis. Cindy is a true friend in every sense of the word and she definitely goes out of her way to show herself friendly!

Grandma is awesome at everything she does. Everything I have eaten from her kitchen has been scrumptious. She is the ultimate hostess, always willing to fix a "fabi meal" and open her home for an spur of the moment party. Actually Grandma is the life of the party. It is always a blast to spend time with her.

Sis. Cindy Burris is faithful member at Amazing Grace Tabernacle. She is a great piano player and singer and always dependable to be on the job. She is a there to support other singers and the preacher as well.  It is always a blessing to have her in the congregation when we are singing and preaching.

More than anything Grandma is a Godly woman. She has lived her life for God. Her life is an example worth looking up to. I am thankful for the privilege to call her friend and Grandma.

Grandma Cindy, I love you so much! Thank you showing others how to be a Godly person. I appreciate your friendship!

Thank you for reading today.

I Can See Clearly Now

It seems the first email glitch I mentioned yesterday is solved. For whatever reason, I think deleting the email addresses and then typing them in again did the trick.

The disappearing followers  caper has not been solved but I did hear from some that still receive their nightly email. I appreciate you letting me know that you are still on the list.

Again, if you know anyone that used to receive notice of the blog and no longer receive it, please let them know they may have to sign up again. I do not think you can sign up from a mobile device without scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking on "View Web Version."  The place to sign up is at the top of the right hand column of the desktop version and is called "Follow By Email."

Today's post is more about the BoggsMobile and Green Machine.

I can see clearly now the haze is gone!

The headlights on the Green Machine and the BoggsMobile have been way cloudy for quite a while. I had tried a couple of homemade remedies but nothing worked very well at all. I know you can have them restored professionally but I did not want to turn loose of the dough AND I did not know how well it worked!

While we were in Sweeny, Texas Pastor Larry Lamb noticed the dim lights and told me he had just cleaned his truck lights. They looked great. The next day he brought some Meguiar's for headlights and then told me how to use it. Bro. Lamb even did most of the work!

First, you tape off around the light and then apply the stuff in the bottle on the left. It goes on kind of like wax and then you polish it off with a soft cloth. Once that is taken off you spray on the other bottle and it clears up right before your eyes! It is amazing stuff! The lights look 100% better!

The old headlights on the BoggsMobile are Ford headlights and they are over 21 years old. I really did not figure there was any hope for them. They were so dim! I have used my new LED fog lights when I could, just to be able to see good enough to drive.

I can see clearly now the haze is gone! The old Ford headlights are nearly like new. Even if it only lasts a few months, I have enough for another treatment on both vehicles AND the Maguiar's was only $20!

Thanks, Pastor Lamb!

Thank you all for reading today.

Weird Email Disappearances

I have been trying to post before I go to bed at night in California so that the post is waiting on the early risers in the east as it normally is. Tuesday night was too eventful and I did not get Wednesday's post up until mid morning Pacific time which is way late in the east. HERE it is in case you missed it.

Now onto the Weird Email Disappearances.

There have been some strange happenings on the email side of the blog lately. I do not have a complete explanation for them but at least I am not entirely in the dark like I was at first.

Number One, I have about 6-8 email addresses of family members and friends that receive notice the moment a new blog posts. I can put a maximum of 10 addresses in there so only a few folks can be listed. Several days ago that stopped sending at all even though the addresses are still there and the option is still checked.

I have not been able to get to the bottom of that. I deleted all the addresses and then re-entered them again. I unchecked the option and then chose it again. We will see if that works.

Number Two, every one that signs up as a follower on the blog (That option can be seen on the top right column on your desktop view under the heading "Follow By Email") receives an email every evening letting you know there was a post published that day. There were about 110 that had signed up for that nightly email.

A few weeks ago that number dropped by over 20 from one day to the next. I suppose it is possible that people can UNfollow but over 20 people in one day? I have heard from some of the people that were dropped and they could not figure out why I dropped them. Since I did not drop them and they did not drop me, evidently it is a Google Blogger thing. I can find no answer for that either.

If you know any one that was following the blog and receiving a nightly email, check with them to make sure they are still getting it. We are posting nearly every day as usual so if they are not getting the nightly email then chances are they were dropped in outer space some where. I guess they will have to sign up again. Help me out with that if you will.

Disappearing followers must be the reason this great blog does not have 10,000 or more followers. That must be it! It is a great conspiracy!

Sorry for the trouble if you were dropped. We certainly appreciate you reading each day.

BoggsMobile at Prevost Mira Loma, California

I have been having an intermittent problem on the BoggsMobile that has been increasing in frequency the last several weeks. It is one of those things that "could" leave me stuck some where so I wanted to get it addressed while we were close to a Prevost shop. We had been to the Prevost shop in Mira Loma before so I emailed them a couple of weeks ago.

I had talked to Jeff Rowe in Tennessee as well and we were pretty sure the problem was a protection valve on one of my air tanks. The bus would not air up to ride height in the morning. After cycling the brakes and causing the air compressor to kick on, we could hear a woooosh as if a valve opened and then the bus would go up. Since all the Norgren valves have been replaced the check valve seemed likely.

We left Bro. Deatherage's mid morning on Monday. They have plenty of room to park but getting in and out their back entrance can be a little tricky depending on where cars are parked on the street. Thankfully we were able to time it just right and there was no one single car on that section of street.

Prevost is only about 11 miles away so we were there, checked in and parked in the back in about 40 minutes. Our appointment was for the second shift and I pulled into the shop a few minutes after 3:00 Monday afternoon.

I did not get a pictures but the mechanic's name was Jeff. He is originally from Queens, New York and I enjoyed visiting with him. They lifted the BoggsMobile in the air about 4:00.

The folks at Prevost Mira Loma agreed Jeff Rowe's diagnosis and a few hours later the valves were changed. The bus came up normally Monday night after the repair, again Tuesday morning about 7:00 and also a few hours later when we left.

Sometimes only time will tell on things like this but it seems like it is OK now.

Here is the BoggsMobile and the Green Machine shortly before we left Tuesday.

I hope that is all taken care of now. Thank you for checking into the blog and for praying for us.
