Reminders and Traffic Note For City Reach Dayton

I have a reminder or two concerning City Reach Dayton and also a traffic note.

We are planning to set up the tent Saturday morning at 8:00 and we are hoping to have plenty of help to do so. If you are able to be there Saturday morning, your help would be greatly appreciated. There will be something for men and women to do and we usually have quite a bit of fun. Most of the work should be completed shortly after 10:00 if we have plenty of help.

We are expecting great services Sunday through Friday and for many folks to be saved, healed and delivered! Please come join us in the services if you can.

Bro. Jimmie and I went up early Thursday and picked up a bunch of trash and mowed some of the lot. We did not mow it all but we did quite a bit of it. We plan to move the tent trailer and the bus onto the tent site later today.

City Reach Dayton will be held at 601 N. Main St. Dayton, Ohio July 10-15, Sunday-Friday. Service on Sunday will begin at 6:30 and Monday-Friday will begin at 7:30. The location is just south of I-75 on the west side of North Main St.

The tent will be on the lot in the picture below. It is directly across from White Allen Honda and just north of White Allen Chevrolet.

The entrance to the lot is actually off Babbit which is the no outlet street on the south end of the lot.

Directions

If you are coming from the north you will use the Main St. exit off I-75. At the end of the exit, turn Left on Main St., cross under I-75 and the tent will be on the Right. Turn Right on Babbit and then Right onto the lot.

If you are coming from the south, the Main St. exit from I-75 is closed for a few weeks. In fact, it just closed Wednesday night! You have two other options from I-75.

The official detour is to go north passed Main St. to the Stanley exit. Get off at Stanley, then back onto I-75 south and exit onto Main St. from there.

Or you can get off the exit for First and Second St. and turn Right on either First or Second. Go a few blocks and turn Left on Main St. Follow Main St. across the river and then turn Left on Babbit and Right onto the tent lot.

I apologize for the confusion of the closed exit ramp. It was going to be so easy with the ramp dropping folks right next to the tent. Maybe God has a plan in all of this. No, I am sure God has a plan in all of this even though I do not have a clue what that plan is!

I hope you will attend. Maybe we will all find out together!

Thank you for reading.

The Painting Friends.

I guess strange things happen when you stay gone long enough!

When we bought the property that became the Lazy OD Ranch about 18 months ago, there were a few things that needed immediate attention. Number one on the list was the hideous fence that ran between the church and the property and also along the road. The section that was on the property line with the church was more down than up. My Dad and my cousin Gerald Livingston made short work of taking it the rest of the way down.

I wanted to try to preserve the corner section and the section along the front of the property at the road. It was in pretty poor shape but not near as bad as the other. I replaced a few boards and Dad replaced a few boards and that was the extent of the repairs. Something else is always higher on the repair list the few days we are home.

Several weeks ago I started receiving pictures of the fence with a nice pretty new red coat of paint on it. I mean a very nice pretty new red coat of paint!

Although I my brother sent these pictures in June, I saw the beautifully painted fence for the first time when we arrived home Sunday evening. It looks absolutely awesome. It is not only painted but it is painted very, very well. They call themselves the Painting Friends  and friends they certainly are to us.

The Painting Friends are Emily Rogers and Lisa Isaacs. The attend church next door at Dodds and are always looking for ways to be an encouragement. Some one mentioned the fence needed to be painted so a plan was devised and executed perfectly.

I want the stealth fence painters to know how much we appreciate their incredible act of kindness! If they were looking for a way to encourage someone, they found it. If they wanted to prove they appreciated some one, they did it. May God bless our faithful friends!

July 4th and 5th

I mentioned earlier that we spent part of the 4th with Kelly Jo's parents and two of her nieces. I spent some time working on the bus that day. This first picture looks suspiciously like it was taken in a mall. If so, then I am very glad I had work to do.

Kayla and Courtney with Odie.

We spent the afternoon at Dad's barn cooking and eating.

My sister in law Holly's parents, Dave and Sue Lamb, joined us too. It is always a treat to see them.

The four of "us."

Dad telling one of his epic stories!

So much for a third good night's sleep in a row. Monday night was back to normal so I dragged myself up to Dayton to the tent site early Tuesday morning. A little mowing and a little trash pick up and it will be ready to go.

After lunch I tore into the hitch on the tent trailer. I noticed some cracking on the way home Sunday. I removed the actual hitch part and I will see if it can be welded. This is a good time to do this and a few other things to the trailer. It will be sitting idle the rest of the year since everything rides in Bro. Jimmie's trailer.

I visited with Odie and Dad and Mom for a few minutes but the rest of the day and evening was spent working on a barn project. Steve and Karen came over a kept us company while I worked. Of course, they helped some too.

That pretty much wraps up the last two days. The next two days will be pretty much the same as we ramp up for City Reach Dayton. Thanks for checking in.
