When One Door Closes

When one door closes, another door opens or something like that.

When we first purchased the Lazy OD Ranch in December 2014, the old red pole barn was in pretty sad shape. Bro. Mitch Boggs Jr. brought his crew and Bro. Jason Fellers to shore it up structurally, replace the roof and finish it out with trim in the summer of 2015.

This is how the front looked until August of this year.

The overhead door finally arrived and was installed in August.

While the installers were here, they helped me take down the old sliding doors that were built in 1982. I laid them next to the driveway until I could get home and remove the metal.

We had a day in mid December without rain and with only mildly arctic temperatures so we removed the metal from the frames.

I suppose this is the manufacture date of the metal. 12/8/81.

I was amazed that the screws came out so easily. The guides mounted on the barn did not come off easily, but we finally removed them!

I am saving the faded red metal to finish around the new door and for a few other places around the barn. I kept the frames, tracks, rollers and guides and they are in really good shape. I was hoping I could find someone that needed doors and did not have money to build doors like these.

Each door is 14'x7', but could be rebuilt to a smaller size if needed. As they are, they can cover a 14x14 opening. I put them on Craigslist in Dayton and Cincinnati at a very cheap price. You could not purchase the track and rollers for the price of everything.

The ad stayed up on Craigslist for two or three weeks without one bite. I did not even get scam emails or texts! I usually always have someone wanting to send extra money in exchange for my account numbers.😍

I put up the ad and did not update it, renew it or even look at it the whole time. I heard nothing but crickets from the ads.

Monday night a guy text me from 9:30 to 10:40 about the doors. He decided to take them and he made arrangements to do the deal Tuesday morning. By 6:00 Tuesday morning he was pulling in and loading up.

He drove 90 minutes from Kentucky to get the doors, tracks, rollers and guides. He is finishing up a new building and they are the exact size he needs. He saved a lot of money and got exactly what he needed.

By 6:30 AM, we had the doors loaded, strapped and he was on his way to work.

I sold them for half the asking price and the asking price was WAY less than new material so I was super happy to send them to a good home. That worked out just like I had hoped and imagined!

Some days things work out great!

Thank you for reading today.

A Word For Wednesday It Is More Blessed To Give, God's Design For Finance

It is time for A Word For Wednesday. A Few minutes ago, I posted A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel. Please give it a listen and leave us a comment here or on YouTube.

Today's episode of A Word For Wednesday was recorded early in 2021 and held for this time. This lesson and the two that follow it are about Christian giving.

At the time they were recorded, we were home, sick and not working. We did not want anyone to think we were working an angle to get people to give to us. So we saved these lessons for now.

We NEVER want anyone to feel we are asking for something or that we think we deserve something from you. We are thankful to be part of God's family and to work in His vineyard. God has been so good to us and we love sharing His message.

The truth of Christian giving and the joy of giving is an amazing truth that everyone needs to know. Jesus is quoted as saying It is more blessed to give than to receive and He has been proven to be true over and over!

We hope you enjoy this three-part series and decide to share it with others.

Today I am spending a few moments on the first part of a sermon called, "It Is More Blessed To Give Than To Receive-Living By Giving." Part One is God's Design For Finance.

Thank you for spending a few minutes with us today.

Careful As I Go One Step At A Time

Do you remember our physical recovery plan? Huh? Do you remember?

I remember.

The plan when we began our fall tour was to preach partial week revivals during that tour and for most of next year, building my strength a little at a time. It seemed like a great plan.

Most of our revivals in the fall and early winter of 2021 were from midweek service, mostly Wednesday, through Sunday. Most of our revivals in 2022 are scheduled to begin on Sunday and run through Wednesday.

That gives us Thursday, Friday and Saturday each week to rest, recuperate, work on the bus as needed and travel to the next revival, not necessarily in that order.😁

Pastors have been very understanding with that approach and the strength we gained in the fall, gave us full hope that our program for full renewal might work. That left one thing to do.

Stick with the plan, big boy!

Our schedule for the first of the year was to begin December 31 in northern Kentucky with Pastor Oliver in Taylor Mill and then make our way to Texas for three revivals and proceed from there. All the revivals would be partial weeks with the built-in time I discussed a few paragraphs above.

Then our Pastor, Bro. Bennie Sutherland, told me that he wanted us to preach the revival at our home church between Christmas and New Year. I was super glad to do it and I did not even think for a second not to preach it.

AND I am super glad I did it. We had a very good week of services and I really enjoyed preaching at Dryden and being with our church family. We loved it and we appreciate the opportunity to preach at home.

We had a wonderful time at Dryden and we had a wonderful time at Taylor Mill! I was so blessed to be able to sing and preach and minister with God's wind in my sails. I felt good spiritually and I witnessed God touching people each night.

We received several personal testimonies from people attending that were helped in the revivals and that is an incredible blessing to us. It is amazing how much God loves people and is willing to help when we call upon Him!

Dryden streams on Mixlr and Taylor Mill streams on a video platform. Almost every night, we received texts or calls from listeners and viewers that heard the singing and the preaching and were encouraged. Praise God!

Starting the year with nine services in eight days at two different churches whipped me physically. I was more tired than I should have been when we finished and did as much of nothing as I could cram into a day on Monday.

I am sadly confident that we will have at least a few COVID cancellations this year and we will have plenty of time to rest. Ugh!

In fact, after I typed most of this Mile Marker on Monday, we received news of our first revival postponement of the year. It is perfectly understandable in this new world we live in. I will tell you about it later in the week as we cement out contingency plans.

We will take this year as it comes and we will march forward by God's grace! We and the Microbus are ready to roll. Thank you for going with us!

Taylor Mill, Kentucky - Revival In Pictures

We have lots of great pictures from our weekend revival at Taylor Mill Pentecostal Church in Taylor Mill, Kentucky. All four services were wonderful and the presence of the Lord was near us. He help us and He helped people in the altar. You can not ask for much more than that.

Yet, we did have more than that. We had great fellowship with the Taylor Mill folks. Their people have been so kind to us through the years and we have always loved being with them.

One of the things I love is that they are so enjoyable to preach to. They are used to good preaching and that challenges me to be at my best. It also assures me that they are going to be attentive and help me preach. They did and I had so much fun!

Not only did we have a blast with the Taylor Mill people, but we had good friends and family visiting as well. I think Odie snapped some pictures of at least a few of them. It was kind of them to come and be with us.

I appreciate Pastor Chris Oliver inviting us to Taylor Mill for a few nights. He had asked us a few times to preach for them and I am so glad it worked out for these few services. He and his wife and family are really good people and we love being in service with them and the fellowship too.

I hope you enjoy the Revival In Pictures!

Our View! 1/2/22

We had 366 Mile Markers in 2021. Odie had a great post yesterday to get us started in 2022. This makes two for this year. I cannot even think about writing at least 363 more in the next twelve months, but surely I can write one more.

Maybe the next day, I can write one more and maybe one more the day following. Before you know it, it will be December 2022 and we will have another whole year of Mile Markers behind us.

I am taking that approach to life each day of this new year. I think we can make it.

Sunday Morning Sanity
You say, 'If I had a little more, I should be very satisfied.' You make a mistake. If you are not content with what you have, you would not be satisfied if it were doubled. Charles Spurgeon

Wow! The bus out of the barn. That is a great view in my eyes!

Have a super great Sunday. Start off the year by going to church on the very first Sunday in 2022. It will be a great habit.
