Taking The Tent Down In Millry

This is Tuesday and we are supposed to fly from Mississippi to Fresno, California this afternoon. We have one stop and then we should be in Fresno by evening. We have a rental car scheduled and we will probably go straight to the motel.

The campmeeting begins Tuesday night but our first service to attend will be Wednesday morning. We are supposed to sing and preach on Thursday night and we are looking forward to the whole meeting. It should be a great trip.

Most of the posts this week will be predominately pictures. Wednesday will probably be travel pictures and the rest of the week we will post campmeeting pictures as we do during most campmeetings. We are looking forward to a great move of God and wonderful fellowship this week. We will bring you there through the pictures.

Saturday

I was outside early on Saturday preparing the tent for coming down, strapping the chairs in the trailer and organizing the trailer too. It took me about two hours to get everything finished working at a leisurely pace. I love working out there early on a cool morning.

Right before the help arrived at 1:00 PM I disconnected the electric and water so the BoggsMobile would be ready to go. I had about 80' of cord to the bus and two runs of 150' to the tent. I also had 150' (6 - 25' hoses) of water hose stretched out. I also had a 50' cord under the tent to the lights and the tent trailer was plugged in too. That's a lot of cords and hoses.

Speaking of cords, I had an unusual thing happen this week. There was a large dog in the neighborhood. I saw him making his rounds in town every day. Thursday evening right before church, Pastor Lamar Chapman noticed the dog had a cord in his mouth pulling on it. It was my big $150+ cord going to the bus. We ran him off before he got the shock of his life.

The next morning some of my speaker cords that we leave hanging in the tent were strewn around. The excess cord is wrapped neatly every night and is placed in a chair. The cords were a mess and I could not figure out why. Kelly Jo noticed later that one of the 50' cords was bit in two! The rotten scoundrel! Friday was the only day I did not see that dog. It might be a good thing he did not show up Friday.

Taking The Tent Down

Even though the temperature was struggling to hit 70 early Saturday afternoon we had lots of sunshine and plenty of wind. The tent was dry and the grass was dry. We were able to get the tent down and packed away completely dry and I am very thankful for that.

We had lots of help for the take down including folks from Sand Ridge Church and Red Creek Church. That really makes us feel good when folks want to help. The Midway Church was there in force as well and the tent was down and the trailer ready to roll in just over 30 minutes.

Here is our great crew!

It sure looks empty without the Blue and White Gospel tent.

Bro. Hunter pulled the trailer to the parking lot for me and soon we were ready to go.

That wraps up our last tent revival for 2015. I am always glad to pack the tent away at the end of the season but I will be itching to go in about 30 days. I love reaching for folks under the tent. I am very, very thankful that God has placed us in this ministry! The next time the tent goes up we should be gearing up for a year of City Reach. We are very excited about that!

Thanks for reading.

Weekend Woundup and Weview October 19

I will start the weekend woundup with a few more pictures of the last service of the Millry Tent Revival.

We had another great crowd and a wonderful service to close out the revival. After service everyone jumped in to help load chairs and sound equipment. With all the great help the job was completed in a few minutes.

Friday night after church. The chairs and the people are all gone.

Saturday the tent came down and packed away with very little trouble at all. I appreciate all the help. I plan to have pictures of the take down process as part of my post tomorrow.

As you can see, we had a little wind to help us.

After the tent was down we backed the bus off the lot (easier said than done) emptied the holding tanks, hooked up to the tent trailer and drove about 8 miles to Tabernacle Holiness Church.

We turned around in their parking lot (also easier said than done) and settled in for the night.

Sunday morning dawned cool and sunny. It was a beautiful day! We enjoyed two great services with Pastor Daugherty and his folks. Bro. Larry and Sis. Barbara are long time friends of ours and we appreciate them very much. Although they have been in the south 35 years, Bro. Larry originally comes from our home church of Dryden Rd. in Dayton, Ohio. It was our happy pleasure to get to be with them again.

Pastor Larry Daugherty and Sis. Barbara

We enjoyed a great meal with the Daugherty's Sunday afternoon. Church started Sunday evening at 5:30 so even with a good altar service we were out early enough to crank up and pull out at a decent hour. We were pulling into Richton by a few minutes after 9:00 PM. After visiting a few minutes we dropped the trailer and parked the BoggsMobile.

That pretty much wraps up our weekend. I hope you had a great one too.

Today will be a packing and preparation day in order to be ready for our trip to California tomorrow. We will pause for few hours and drive down to Lucedale for the funeral of Bro. JJ and Sis. Bailey's baby. Please keep praying for them for the next several days.

Thanks for reading.

View Out The Front Window

Check out our posts from the last week at the links below.

We moved about 8 miles from Milly, Alabama to Tabernacle Holiness Church on Saturday. I knew there was no AT&T service but I figured our Verizon WiFi could not be much worse than Millry. I figured very wrong. We have one little bar of Verizon 3G that comes and go and mostly stays away.

Even with very limited internet it is very pretty out here. This is our view out the front window.

This is our view out the front door.

We are going to be with Pastor Larry Daugherty and his folks both services today. Some of them were in tent revival with us in Millry and we are excited to be with them for the day.

I do not know if this will post and if it does I do not know if the pictures will post with it. I guess I will just have to "smash" the Publish button and see what happens.

I hope you have a great Sunday.

Blessed To Be 30

I have a prayer request so I am re-posting Odie's blog from this morning. IF some of you receive the feed twice you will know why. I am re-posting because I want you to pray for Bro. JJ and Sis. Bailey Holland from Ellisville, Mississippi. You have been praying for them and their twin boys for several weeks. There has been a change and I will give you the news as we received it in their own words.

John passed away tonight in the arms of his Mama. He is safe in the arms of Jesus. Please pray for us.
Please understand God did not fail us, He answered our prayers in His way. We prayed for healing and he is healed. We prayed for him to live and he is living. Our miracle was 6 weeks that we spent with out baby boy.
I have been outside working this morning and Odie shared this with me when I came inside a moment. My heart broke into a puddle of years. On one hand I rejoice for John's ultimate healing and for the time they had to spend with him and for their spiritual maturity in comprehending all this from Heaven's view.

But my heart weeps and breaks for this young couple with the first hand understanding of a brokenhearted Daddy. I am praying for JJ, Bailey and little James from the deepest recesses of my heart. Would you please pray for them too.

Thank you very much. Now I will turn you over to Odie and her regularly scheduled Saturday post.

Davy

Hey Friends,

Thank you for checking in at Boggsblogs! This is Odie and I am glad to have you along on this crazy journey called life. I hope you enjoy our Mile Markers along the way.

Our plan today is to take down the Gospel Tent in Millry. Dad will work most of the morning getting everything prepared. Once the tent is dry and the help shows up, the tent should be down and packed away in a few minutes.

We have had a wonderful move of God in Millry. Last night was outstanding in every way. It is a great way to cap off tent revivals for 2015. The next time the tent goes up should be in the southwest of the USA for a City Reach campaign.

It has been an eventful week around the BoggsMobile. I (Odie) turned 30 years old on Wednesday. Please check out my Dad's sweet posts from Tuesday and Wednesday. He put a lot of effort into making sure I had a fabulous birthday.

This is me and my Daddy in my first few days in October 1985.

I will admit I shed some tears a few times in the weeks leading up to October 14th. I was dreading getting old but my family and friends made it a Happy day!

Once again I am overwhelmed by the love and support. There is no way I could take time to name everyone that sent a video, text, emailed, left a comment, sent a card, or gave me a gift. I am very grateful for your outpouring of love and generosity! I definitely feel loved and spoiled! I did not cry once on my birthday because of my age but some of the sweet acts of kindness shown to me made me cry!

Now I am excited about what this new decade holds for me! My 20's did not all turn out according to my plan but I rest in this fact, I am living life according to God's plan. 2005-2015 were ten exciting years. God led me down several paths I never dreamed possible! What is going to happen next?

2015

My birthday celebration actually started several days early. Bro. Scott, Sis. Kim, Regan and Rylee Morris treated me to a early birthday meal. It was a great evening spent with my Mississippi family at Cheddars.

Last Saturday the Tooneys from Irvington, Alabama made the long drive to Millry just to bring me a special birthday card. I am stilled amazed and so grateful for my wonderful friends! I love Bro.David and Sis. Lillie Tooney!

They had planned to be in tent revival with us this week but had to go out of town for a family funeral. I can not believe they took the time to drive so far just to wish me a happy birthday. It was an act of kindness that I do not think I will ever forget!

Thank you all again for every birthday greeting! I am a blessed girl to have so many awesome people in my life. I love everyone of you!!

Let me close by thanking my parents. Mom and Dad, Thank you for always being there for me. For cheering me on through life! I love you both so much!

God Bless,

Odie
