Sterlington, Louisiana - Sterlington Holiness Tabernacle

We had a great Easter in Sterlington, Louisiana. Services were wonderful and the Spirit of the Lord visited us in a great way. It was the first Easter in Sterlington's new sanctuary and what a beautiful day it was. The new church is pretty awesome. Pastor Tracy Boyd and his congregation have labored so hard for several years and their work is evident in their new church. Below you will find a few few pictures of the new building. I know that Odie snapped several pictures with her camera so maybe she can post better pictures later in the week.

Pray for us as we have revival here at Sterlington this week. We are asking God to move in this community and save souls. Bro. Tracy, Sis. Shea and the congregation are hungry for a divine visitation. I believe God will honor that kind of hunger.

God bless you all.

(Updated) He Wouldn't Stay Dead - Easter - Resurrection Sunday

Update: Hat Tip to my brother, Steve Boggs for finding the author of the poem below.  It is an awesome poem and the author certainly deserves the credit. His name is Willard G. Thomas according to two different websites that include this poem. (Note: Outside links may expire or change content over time.)

Praise God for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. We as Christians celebrate the fact that Christ arose every day of our Christian experience. Today, Easter or Resurrection Day, is a day of special remembrance of the momentous occasion when the Son of God, God in the flesh, Jesus Christ our Lord conquered death, hell and the grave! He died to pay the penalty for our sin and He rose again that we might have new life! Praise God He is Alive!

Below is a poem that I have quoted in my preaching for many, many years.  It was written by a Baptist preacher from Georgia. I heard him quote it in person long years ago. It spoke to me then and it speaks to me every time I think of it. I have lost the name of the man who wrote it but I love this poem. I added the last stanza when I started quoting it myself.

May God bless you on this Easter. If you are not a Christian, may you be moved by the fact that Jesus Christ died for you and then got up out of the grave for you as well.

He Wouldn’t Stay Dead
by:Willard G. Thomas

They laid His body in Joseph’s new tomb
And filled His disciples with sorrow and gloom
They did not remember what He had said
That He would die, but He wouldn’t stay dead

Mary came at the break of day
And found the stone was rolled away
She saw an angel and in terror fled
And told His disciples that He didn’t stay dead

In that cold dark tomb He would not stay
He conquered death and walked away
And now that old grave has lost it’s fear and dread
He lives again! He wouldn’t stay dead

Full atonement and pardon were made
And forever the sin debt was marked fully paid
The price was His blood as it flowed crimson red
And I’m thankful today that He didn’t stay dead!

Let’s go to our churches and cry aloud
Let’s go to the marketplace and talk to the crowd
Let’s go to the mission fields that lie up ahead
And tell the whole world that He didn’t stay dead!

Because if Jesus Christ had only died
Then the gulf between us and God would still be wide
But thank God He did what He said
He got up out of the ground, He couldn’t stay dead!

On the Road Again

Spring Showers of Blessings

Odie’s View
From The Back
Spring is finally here!!!  We are loving the nice weather!  When I last wrote we were thawing out from the “Tulsa 2011 Blizzard.”
A new season is here and it brought a different type of storm. March 27th, 2011 a severe thunderstorm came through Dothan, Alabama.  The storm produce high winds, rain, hail and possibly a tornado.  Thank God we were not harmed physically but Mr. Cheap Jeep, the BoggsMobile and our cargo trailer  had some hail damage.  The BoggsMobile sustained the most injuries.
Now for all the news.  Once we were able to leave Tulsa, Oklahoma we headed to Midwest City, Oklahoma.  It was so good to be with Pastor Kenny Searcy and the fine folks at Calvary Holiness Church.  It is definitely a week we will remember.  God proved to us that He still does miracles!!
Pastor Steve Moore and the congregation at New Mission welcomed us with open arms to Purcell, Oklahoma.  They made it feel like we were coming home.  It was so refreshing to see our friends receive strength.
The BoggsMobile made the long trek form Oklahoma to Mississippi.  It was an eventful trip.  We were thrilled to make it to Richton, Mississippi, even if it was in two or three pieces.  Despite many obstacles that week, God sent revival to Pastor Scott Morris and his church.  We are thankful for the ways the Lord moved!  See you all in October at tent revival.
It was a pleasure to be with the awesome people at Tanner Williams Holiness Church for a Sunday.  We are blessed to be able to call Pastor Donnie Williamson our friend!  Already we are looking forward to being back for Homecoming this fall.
Our home church, Dryden Road, had another family transplanted because of ministry in 2010.  It was wonderful to see Bro. Darius Templeton and family working in Alabama.  We were able to attend their Monday Night Fellowship Meeting in Citronelle, Alabama.  They are doing a great job!
It was then campmeeting time at Allentown.  Every March there is an excitement in the air when we pull into Semmes, Alabama.  Again this year we received strength from the Lord and food for our souls through the preaching of God’s word!  Pastor Futral and the campmeeting board did an excellent job making sure things went smoothly.
Thanks to Pastor Jason Merritt for inviting us to Little Rock Assembly!  We enjoyed getting to be with you all in Waynesboro, Mississippi for a Sunday morning service.
We found new friends at Midway Assembly in St. Stephens, Alabama.  Thanks to Pastor Lamar Chapman and congregation for all of your hospitality! Midway has quickly become one of our favorite places to visit!
We had a great time singing at Flat Branch Assembly!  Pastor Jim Koen and the church folks treated us so good.
Then we traveled to Ellisville, Mississippi.  We love being with Pastor Kenny and Sis. Joan Morris. God did some amazing works in Ellisville!  It is a revival we will be testifying about for awhile!
Mt. Sinai Holiness Tabernacle in Dothan, Alabama is where we were when the storms came. It was an eventful start to our week with Pastor Dewayne Watson.  The rest of week turned out good is spite of the storms.
We had 5 great services at Lighthouse Holiness Church in Ozark, Alabama.  It was good to be with Pastor William Parr and his folks.  We were also blessed to see several friends.
We then took time for some much needed R&R.  It was wonderful to catch our breath while the BoggsMobile received repairs to the roof.  We were also glad to see our friends at Beams of Light in Cantonment, Florida.  Pastor Philip Deane and congregation will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Our current location is White Plains Assembly in Conehatta, Mississippi. We love the Graham family!
Well, I hear the engine starting so I better go ‘cause we’re On the Road Again.

Note From Davy
On June 5 we begin our Summer of Tent Revivals. We are excited to see what God is going to do in these meetings. We will be joined in the first three tent revivals by the Millikin family. They will be singing along side of us and Bro. Jimmy will be preaching many of the nights as well. In July and August we will have tent revivals in Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky. Please pray that God will move in these meetings. We are believing for a harvest of souls.   Davy

Back to Work and Some Prayer Requests

We ended our time off in a whirlwind of activity which is the way it happens for most of us I suppose. Saturday morning we left Navarre and headed back to the bus in Cantonment. On the way we stopped at WalMart, of course, and fellowshipped with the Deane's over a quick meal at Ryan's.

Bro. Philip Deane and the Beams of Light church were so kind to allow us to park on their property this week. It is a great place to park and it was a convenient location for the men repairing the hail damaged roof.

Speaking of the repairs, Jake Parkerson finished the roof of the BoggsMobile during the week we were off and it looks as good as new. I appreciate Jake and his crew (Color Pro Technologies) working so hard and doing such a great job. We were working on a pretty close timeline and they met it with flying colors. It was good to get to know Jake and his family. They are fine folks.

Kelly Jo and Odie spent the afternoon  unpacking and putting things back in order while I was preparing things to ride outside. Sunday morning we were up bright and early and hit the road.

We arrived at White Plains Assembly in the afternoon and parked, set up sound and cleaned up just in time for church. The first service was good and we are looking for great things from God this week.

White Plains is a beautiful church out in the country near Conehatta and Sebastopol, Mississippi. We love coming here and being in church with our friends. Please pray that God will visit us in a special way this week.

In fact, I have two more prayer requests that I want to mention.

1. My dad, Eugene Boggs, fell last Tuesday and broke his L1and L4 vertebra. He is in tremendous pain and needs the touch of God. He and Mom are in Florida and were planning to go home last week but he is unable to travel.

2. My dear friend and missionary, Bro. Larry Landress lost a younger brother this weekend in a senseless tragedy. His whole family is in desperate need of prayer. Bro. Larry will be preaching the funeral. Please pray for Bro. Larry and his family.

Thanks for praying for our family as well. God bless.

We scheduled this last week off and spent it doing almost nothing at all. On Wednesday we drove to Destin and spent a few hours there.  Other than that we were pretty inactive all week and enjoyed every minute of it. Below you will find the pictures to prove it. lol

New Tires for the BoggsMobile - Michelin XZA 2 315 80R22.5

When we bought the BoggsMobile a little over three years ago, we knew it needed tires badly. We even tried to negotiate new tires into the bargain as we were buying. The seller did replace a $3000 part but they wouldn't even consider replacing some of the tires. After we began pricing tires we understood why. The proper tires were at least $800 each and have gone up since. No wonder they chose to replace a $3000 part instead! lol

We replaced the two tires on the tag axle that first summer because they were in terrible shape. Last year in March God blessed us with two much need tires on the front of the bus. That story is Here. I said then that I would like to make the four tires on the drive axle last for another year. The sidewalls have been cracking badly since we bought the bus and I knew they were maxing out on age but they made it.

I have been pricing these tires all over the country and the cheapest I found any where was in Dothan, Alabama at a place called TCI. Last week I took the bus in and in a few hours the tires were mounted, balanced and put on. It was very painful before they let me leave but I praise God for these three things.

1. God letting the old tires last as long as they did with no failures or blowouts. We have asked him to do this countless times as we drive down the road.
2. TCI giving me a great price compared to everywhere else in the country. I am asking God to bless them for that because it was a great blessing to me.
3. God giving us time and ability to save some of the money so the hit wouldn't be so bad and providing the rest just in time.

We should be ready to go for several thousand miles by the grace of God. Here are some pictures of the progress and one of the finished product after I cleaned up the bus a little bit.

Price of Oil, Diesel & Gasoline

THIS is one of the reasons I can't stand oil at over $100 a barrel. These pictures are from the BoggsMobile's most recent fill up on Thursday April 7, 2011 at Flying J in Dothan, Alabama

I usually put in 150-160 gallons when I fill up but I stopped for fuel a little early this time because my route next Saturday may not take me by a good place to buy fuel. That's the reason I ONLY bought 129 gallons.

We have short memories in America. Oil at $147 a barrel in 2008 is precisely what brought our economy to a screeching halt. Families had to choose between buying gas to go to work and paying their mortgage. Whole companies shut down their operations because the price of fuel took all their profit. The discretionary spending of most Americans was no longer discretionary, it HAD to be spent on gasoline, propane and heating oil. Our strong economy nearly collapsed from the weight of it.

Three years later our economy is still struggling. In some areas there is virtually no new housing market, no new construction to speak of at all. Home prices are still falling in most markets while the price of everything else is going up fast. The price of oil is on the rise again and in my opinion it will not have to rise to $147 a barrel to wreak havoc this time. There is a tipping point some where and I believe it is close.

The really bad part is that our dear president thinks this is good for America. In an appearance last week in Pennsylvania President Obama needled a man who asked about high gas prices and made fun of people who drive big vehicles. The truth is that it takes big vehicles for this country to survive. Big trucks, vans and SUVs are an integral part of our society. They keep products and people moving. We don't need smaller cars and public transportation, we need lower Oil, Diesel and Gasoline Prices.

Well, that's my two cents worth. That's what I had left over after I filled the tank on the BoggsMobile. Lol!!

Sis. Green Turns Red! - Funny iPhone Video

We met Bro. Wade and Sis. Lori Green and their family at Zoar Holiness Church back in December. They visited both of our recent revivals in Alabama at Mt. Sinai in Dothan and Lighthouse in Ozark. At Dothan they asked about the smaller picture on our CD cover below.

They wanted to know what we were doing when the picture was taken. We were actually singing. Julie Stephens at Calotype Photography suggested we sing while she took pictures. Sis. Lori said, "Let's do that and you take our picture." They started singing but instead of snapping pictures I turned on the video on my iPhone. Sis. Lori's response when they realized what was happening is priceless. Watch and see for yourself.

Sis. Lori turned so red and it was so funny. I am glad she is such a good sport about it.
Hope you enjoy.

Update 4/9/11- Dothan- PepsiCola, Florida

Any Idea What This Is?

We closed revival for Bro. Parr on Wednesday and headed west Thursday. We had some business to take care of so we didn't hit the road until mid afternoon.

We appreciate Bro. Parr, Bro. Watson and their churches so much. They have been our dear friends for years and their lives have been a blessing to us. We are so glad we were able to be in their area the last two weeks.

The area churches supported the revivals as well. Pastor Jon Isaacs, Pastor Al Loper, Pastor Winfred King Pastor Mark Sims, Bro. Wade Green, Bro Tony Walker and others brought their families and helped in the revivals. That is so encouraging. As I travel and meet more great folks I realize how thankful I am that God has brought so many good people into our lives. I need my brothers and sisters and their fellowship strengthens me.

We arrived at Beams of Light Holiness Church in Cantonment late Thursday evening. (I like to point out that Cantonment is just north of PepsiCola, Florida.) We parked and set up and then met Pastor Philip Deane and his precious family to eat.

Bro. Philip had told me about a great pizza place called Tuscan Oven Pizzeria so that is where we went. It was Sooooo Good! We enjoyed the great food very much but we enjoyed the wonderful fellowship even more. We laughed until we could stand no more.

I worked on the trailer and BoggsMobile on Friday while Kelly Jo pulled things together for vacation. That night we loaded up with the Deane's again and went to Sonny's BBQ. We had more great food, fun, fellowship and hilarious laughter. My sides were sore from laughing so hard when we went inside for the night. Bro. Philip, Sis. Deidra, Shavona and Colton are super great people and we loved spending time with them.

Our long time friends may remember when Odie had a large tumor removed in February/March 2005. It was a very scary time in our lives. We were in revival at Beams of Light for Bro. Philip Deane when all that went down.

We could not have been in better hands. Bro. Philip, his family and his church rallied around us and held our heads above water during those critical days. We will always be thankful for them allowing God to minister to us through them. We will never forget it. Bro. Deane earned the name "Dr. Phil" during that time and we still call him that.

Today we are beginning our scheduled time off. We are spending several days at a top secret, undisclosed, highly sensitive location. We will emerge from our bunker to preach for Bro. Deane on Sunday night but other than that there is no preaching until the following Sunday. We are looking forward to few days of nothing but sleep.

The BoggsMobile will be staying at Beams of Light while repairs are made to the roof. The hail storm on March 27th in Dothan beat the clear coat and some paint off the roof and dinged one side of the trailer pretty bad. Ol' Mr. Cheap Jeep came out pretty well.

We are so thankful Bro. Watson's new church escaped major damage and that no one was hurt. We are also thankful that our insurance is covering our damage. Our premium was due this week and it seemed like a small price to pay.

God bless you all this week. We still plan to post to the blog this week so come back and see us.
