Calvary Holiness Church - Revival In Pictures

We have had another great week in revival with Pastor Kenny Searcy and the Calvary Holiness Church in Midwest City, Oklahoma. As I said earlier Bro. and Sis. Searcy have been our friends for many years. Although they are originally from Oklahoma they were living in Ohio and attending our home church when we started visiting there in early 1988. They embraced us so warmly and made us feel right at home and we have been friends ever since.

Later when we were pastoring our first church and they were evangelizing they held us a super great revival. They have been back in Oklahoma over 20 years and have been pastoring at Calvary for nearly 13 years. It is always our privilege to preach for these special folks. Thank you all for treating us so well. May God bless you for all of your kindness.

We plan to leave this morning and head toward Ellisville, Mississippi. It is a pretty long run so we do not plan to make the trip all in one day. We plan to park some where along the road and then finish up Saturday. We are supposed to start revival Sunday morning and I hope to be well rested and ready to go.

I hope you enjoy all of the pictures.

I do not know how these next three pictures got started but if this is the way our visitors want to be photographed who are we to argue?

OK, back to normal...

Did I say normal earlier?

My new love. Whole wheat pancakes with bananas and strawberry syrup from IHOP.

Some Things Fix Easy and Some Things Do Not

Yesterday's Post

There always seems to be plenty of projects to go around when you live in any kind of RV. The current BoggsMobile is no exception. I have been dabbling with 2 or 3 different projects this week and 2 or 3 more on the back burner and 10 or 15 on the to do list.

There is one thing I am very thankful for this week. That is the fact that I can work outside without 13 layers of clothes plus two vests, gloves, hat and ear muffs or ear muffins as I call them. Praise God for some warmer weather.

I had some air valves replaced and the ride height adjusted on the BoggsMobile in October while going through Houston, Texas. More on that HERE and HERE. Raising 3/4 of an inch at the drive axle works out to much more than that at the bumper. With the rise, our tow bar has been pointing down toward the Green Machine more than it was supposed to. I ordered a drop made just for that situation and I received it in the middle of the deep freeze that was our attempted revival in West Plains, Missouri.

The drop fit fine into the hitch on the bus. However, the nearly new insert on the Blue Ox tow bar would not go in the brand new drop down receiver that was also made by Blue Ox. It was so very close but it would not go in. I put it all away until a warmer day. That warmer day came this week.

Warm weather and it still would not go in. I took it to a welding shop over on High Ave. just south of Mt. Vernon Holiness Church in Oklahoma City and let them have a look at it. A Standard 2" insert went in the receiver fine and the tow bar goes into other receivers fine but they would not go together.

The guy at the welding shop fixed it up in a few minutes with a power sander and $5 later I was on my way. That is how it is supposed to work.

I wish all my projects were resolved that easy. I have another project on the BoggsMobile that gets my attention on a daily basis the last few weeks and it does not look good. I do not even have the heart to tell you about it right now. I am going to need a final diagnosis from a professional and then I will know just how bad it is. It has the potential to be real bad.

The Lord helped us tremendously Tuesday here at the RV Park. There was a grass fire next to the park that burned a couple of acres at least. It burned right up to the fence in the picture below and beyond the fence just a few feet to the left of the picture.

There are RVs all along the fence and the front of the BoggsMobile is within 100 feet of the fence. Somebody called the fire department and they came and put it out. It was obviously burning totally out of control for a while but with the wind blowing as hard as it was it could have been a whole lot worse for us. Praise God for his help.

Revival is going well at Calvary in Midwest City. We have one more night. God bless you all.

Remembering Good Times and Good People

Yesterday's post caused me to browse through some of the past posts and reminisce about friends and great experiences we have had in this area. I ran across this picture that I posted four years ago today.

We were in revival at South Mission with Pastor Leon Rich and his folks. The picture was taken after church while Bro. Marty Millikin was playing the piano with Kelly Jo, Sis. Teresa Webster and others looking on in awe.Yes, he was that good. Bro. Marty was hitting on all 8 cylinders that night (as he always was) and was tearing that piano up.

That picture reminds me to cherish those happy moments. That moment will never be recreated. Often after church we are rushing around trying to fellowship and in a few minutes we are rushing some where to eat. That night we took time to watch the master piano player work his magic while laughing and having a good time with his friends. Bro. Marty loved music but I think he loved people even more.

This blurry iPhone picture reminds me to slow down and savor those moments and the friends involved in those moments for all they are worth. Those moments are worth so much more than all the distractions that pull on us.

It also reminds me of a funny story that we have told to lots of people but I have probably never told here. This story was a huge part of that wonderful night.

Bro. Marty visited revival at South Mission that night by himself. What he did not know was that Bro. Leon Rich had been teasing Odie about Bro. Marty coming to see her all week long. He came in a few minutes late and sat in the back of the church. Bro. Rich asked Bro. Marty to come to the platform and play the piano and sing.

Bro. Marty was being is genuinely polite self and was saying he would give his time to our family. Bro. Rich insisted that he play and sing. Bro. Marty said, "I give all my time to Odie." Bro. Rich smiled and said right in front of God and everybody, "Bro. Marty, I think Sis. Odie would enjoy that." Odie was sitting on the platform and turning about 24 shades of red. It was hilarious.

Bro. Marty took all of the teasing well and came to the platform, sang, played and blessed our hearts that night. After the service they begged him back to the piano and they all played music for quite a while. It was a night we have cherished for four years and will continue to cherish for many more.

Lord, help me to slow down and enjoy the good things and good people you bring into my life. The good things fade and the good people leave us too soon.
