It Has Been A Great Week! 11/19/21

It has been a busy, happy week and we would not have it any other way.

Before we purchased the Lazy OD Ranch in December of 2014, our time at home was completely different. We would come home, rest a day or two and then go to church, visit with family, work on the truck and trailer (later the bus) and then hit the road again. That pretty much described our limited home time for eleven years of road life.

With the ranch, much of that has changed. We still go to church, visit with family, work on the truck, car, trailer and bus, but we now have added the responsibility of the bus barn, the yard and the house. Fortunately, the house is newish so it does not require much attention and Odie can take care of the small stuff.

The yard and the bus barn demand our undivided attention much of the time. It is not all bad though. The blur of activity Monday included Mom's pumpkin pie for Odie, lunch at Odie's with Mom and Dad.

You know that we have to do some vehicle shuffling. Dad had dropped the truck off before we arrived home. The Jeep had to be unhooked and moved, then the truck hooked to the small trailer and move it away from the barn. That made room to park the bus next to the barn.

The Green Machine was parked in the house garage and would not start. I pushed it out of the garage and rolled it down the hill toward the barn. After spending an hour on the battery charger, it cranked right up!

Tuesday and Wednesday KJo assembled the last to cabinets that we had purchased for the barn before we left. I aired up tires. Lawnmower tires, Green Machine tires, ten trailer tires and truck tires.

All of this was in preparation for our only warm day of the week and maybe the last warm day of the year in Ohio.

On Wednesday, the warm day in the 60s, KJo finished the cabinets, mowed and generally worked her amazing domestic magic!

I washed the plumbing bay in the bus and shuffled vehicles again. This time the shuffle included everything, including moving the tent railer out of the barn and moving the BoggsMobile into the barn.

I also shuffled some equipment between the bus and the tent trailer while they were parked in close proximity in the picture below. We need different things with us for each trip and I am looking ahead to what needs to be in the bus when we roll again for a long tour in January.

The bus had not been inside since mid August so quite a bit of tools and such had to be handled to make room for it. While inserting the bus, I washed the back of it. Washing it beside the barn makes a muddy mess, so this was the best that I could do.

I washed the top part of the back and then took a picture. Can you see the difference between the unclean and kind of clean?

This is the first time the BoggsMobile has been inside the bus barn with the overhead door installed. That felt good!

Every time I push the button to open or close that big overhead door it makes me smile from ear to ear! It does not take much to make me happy! That door is there because of a gift from dear friends and we are incredibly thankful!

Our beautiful week included Tuesday and Thursday at our home church at Dryden Road. It was so good to be back. We love our Pastor and church family.

Thank you for stopping in today.

The Boggs Mobile Is Still Driving In Circles

Because of being sidelined for much of 2021, we only made two big circles in the BoggsMobile this year. You can see the details of our first circle of the year HERE.

Our up close and personal brush with the worldwide pandemic ended our first circle of 2021 after only a month or so. That circle only lasted 32 days and 2692 miles.

Although our second circle was long delayed, it was received with joy when it began on August 23. We left Dayton, Ohio and pointed the bus toward our friends in Lowell, Vermont.

Keep in mind, for the most part, I am writing about where the BoggsMobile traveled. There are places we visited and churches where we preached that I do not have space to mention in this summary. You can find out about all those places by following along each day or going back in time on the Mile Markers time machine.

We began the circle at the slowest pace of our lives, trying to build strength as we went and NOT hit a physical wall. We used up four days to drive the first 900 miles. We enjoyed the journey and pulled into beautiful Lowell Bible Church safe and sound.

From Lowell, we travelled to Brooks, Maine and then Peabody, Massachusetts.

From Boston, the BoggsMobile went to Charles Town, West Virginia, Elkton, Virginia and then Staunton, Virginia.

After Staunton, we spent a few days for bus care in Vonore, Tennessee and then travelled to the deep south. The BoggsMobile stopped in Richton, Mississippi, Milry, Alabama and Thomasville, Alabama.

Below is a map of our circle from home until Milry, Alabama.

We left Alabama, made a quick jump to Hodgenville, Kentucky and then out to Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Wichita, Kansas and Moore, Oklahoma.

From Moore, we made a 600 mile jump to Paducah, Kentucky and then scooted over to Central City, Kentucky before completing the circle to the Lazy OD Ranch near Waynesville, Ohio.

This is the rest of our circle beginning in Milry, Alabama and ending at home.

After being home 203 days this circle was 12 weeks (84 days) and the bus traveled 5610 miles. Not bad for a bunch of homebodies!😍

We ministered in eighteen churches, including one tent revival, one outdoor revival, two Fellowship Meeting revivals, six church revivals, three Pastor Appreciations and several other single service or two service stops.

Seven churches of the eighteen churches we were ministering in for the first time. We love going places year after year and building relationships with folks, but that has to begin at some point. We love that!

That wraps up this circle. We anxiously await the next one!

Thank you for spending a few minutes with us today.

Home, Home On The Ranch, The Lazy OD Ranch That Is!

We pulled onto the Lazy OD Ranch at 10:45 Sunday night after 270 miles from Central City, Kentucky.

It was too dark for a picture, but this is how we parked.

We should have made that trip in four+ hours, but we were seven hours and fifteen minutes getting it done. Ouch!

The number one reason was the two hour pitstop at a rest area. We stopped to eat and rest for one hour and as we started to leave, we noticed red on Google maps. There was a huge delay with an accident in a construction zone so we waited a second hour.

The number two reason was the many miles of 55 mph construction zones. Wow! They went on and on. It is hard to make time when I am running 45-55, changing lanes and dodging orange barrels.

Number three was the delay at a late night fuel stop in northern Kentucky. The TA in Florence was slammed and we waited quite a while before we could even begin fueling. Then the pump was slow and we took on 151 gallons.

All of that combined for a long driving day after a busy morning and afternoon. It was great to pull onto the ranch and next to the barn.

KJo and I have been planning for many months to leave Wednesday on vacation and then segway into ministry possibilities, but that trip was cancelled. We are scrambling to find a suitable alternative, but in the meantime, we have plenty to keep us busy.

Thank you for stopping by.
