View Out The Front Window September 14, 2014

It was a great day Saturday and we are looking for a great day today under the tent in Millry. We are having service this morning at10:30 and tonight at 6:00. I am excited. Pastor Lamar Chapman and his folks at Midway have been preparing for tent revival and other churches in the area seem to be excited as well. This is going to be a super week.

We changed our view quite a few times this week. We started in Virginia.

Then we traveled Tuesday and spent Tuesday night and Wednesday night in a campground.

Look Who Found Us On The Road

Hello my wonderful friends. This is Odie again. I am writing this on Thursday for Dad to post Saturday if we have any signal. We took the tent down Monday evening and traveled Tuesday and Thursday and plan to finish up on Friday.

On Saturday the tent will go up in Millry, Alabama by God's grace. Last year in Millry we had absolutely NO phone signal.  Please pray for me!!  We may have limited wifi. So email might be our form of communication this week.

We are anticipating a great move of God in Millry.  Last year was hampered by weather but we had wonderful services. Keep us in your prayers. We are praying for clear weather so the Gospel message can be proclaimed and heard.

Tuesday night Dad got a call from Bro. Kenny Morris. We were traveling in different directions through the same city.  Before we passed each other we stopped for a great meal and visit on Wednesday. It was a marvelous time of fellowship with our dear friends!

I love Bro. Kenny and Sis. Joan Morris. Faithful readers know we have been adopted into the Morris bunch. It was wonderful to see part of our Mississippi family!

In our travels we are blessed to have met many men and women of God. Sometimes you think it might be a "chance" meeting.  Later down the road I look back and see God's guidance in the situation.

In the summer of 2005 we were scheduled to sing at Paw Creek Ministries campmeeting for the second year. The night speaker was Bro. Kenny Morris and it was our first time to meet him. We quickly formed a bond with Bro. Kenny that week. He told me then, "You will love my family, and they will love you." He was right!!  In 2006 we started meeting the rest of the crew and our bond with the whole family has continued to grow to this day

That "chance" meeting was the providence of God. Thank you Lord for leading us to the Morris family!

We love all you Morris people!  We will see the rest of you soon.

Have a great weekend!

Odie

Note from Davy Saturday morning:
We did make it into Millry Friday and the AT&T cell signal is just as bad as we remembered. That is to say completely and absolutely nonexistent!!! We do have some Verizon based internet signal so we should be able to send and receive email and post here. We will not have it turned on most of the time so if we do not answer an email right away that is why.

It was hot and humid when we arrived Friday and Kelly Jo and I just about melted while trying to get the BoggsMobile and tent trailer situated. Hopefully, all goes well today and we get finished before the heat of the day. Thanks for always praying for us.

A Crashing Laptop

There was a terrible crash inside the BoggsMobile this week. The blue screen of death popped up on my laptop Wednesday and now it will not boot up. I was working online through an RV Park wifi when everything went crazy. My screen started flashing random pictures and text and the blue screen flashed and then froze on an empty screen. It flashes briefly every time I try to boot it up. I have tried everything in the set up menu with the same result.

The pictures are backed up on an external hard drive. Most of my preaching files are backed up on an external hard drive. However my Quicken files and mailing list are backed up on the laptop hard drilve. I do not know yet if the laptop is really dead or if the information on it can be recovered if it is. I will have to wait until I am in a big city with an abundance of computer geeks.

The financial information can be pieced together with bank records although it will be a huge headache. The mailing list is a whole other problem. We have many hundreds of addresses stored on there including our address list for Odie's On The Road Again newsletter. This list has the mailing address of every church we have been to the last 12 years.

It is time to put out a newsletter now but it will be delayed. IF we find that the laptop has really went over the rainbow to see Dorothy and Toto then we will put out a call for mailing addresses. That will be a big process.

Another drawback to not having access to my laptop is the blog. Although we do much of the blog on iPhone and iPad apps there are a few things that are much easier on an actual computer. It is difficult to impossible to clean up fonts and formatting on my mobile devices. Please excuse the sloppy appearance while I sort this out.

We are headed into Millry, Alabama Friday and unless something changes we will have no cell phone signal there. If you need to contact us send an email or maybe a smoke signal. We should have some Internet service so we will try to keep posting here.

A Fine Line Between Creative and Crazy

You ever have a problem you can not solve no matter what you do? You have tried all the conventional methods and still do not have the desired results.

You have asked the experts.

You have checked Google, Wlkipedia, searched the internet for hours and even made a trip to the library.

You asked your preacher, your Dad, your best friend, the guy at work, your neighbor, your wierd uncle and even your creepy ex-brother-in-law and you are no closer to a solution?

You have checked the coolant, radiator, thermostat, belts, hoses, fans, water pump and even the air in the tires.

Still stumped?

Maybe it is time you think outside the box. Completely outside the box!

Maybe you just need a little more ventilation. Or a LOT more ventilation.

Yep! That should do the trick!

Don't be afraid to do what needs to be done no matter how crazy it looks to everybody else!

Thanks for showing up today.

Update On Nigeria

When Kelly Jo and I were in Nigeria in November of 2013 we took a suitcase full of school supplies to the Good News Christian School in Abeokuta. Bro. Shobanke's daughters Sis. Ruth and Sis. Rebecca run the school of over 100 children. We have believed in and supported the school before it began and with the help of God's people we are continuing that support.

November 2013

Pastor Larry Lamb and his church in Sweeney, Texas purchased most of the school supplies we took over last year. We really did not know what they could use so we took a little of everything. I asked them to let us know which things worked the best. They sent me an email several weeks ago with a list of items they could use

We purchased a few hundred dollars of school supplies and sent them with Bro. David Eldridge on his recent trip to Nigeria. We paid the extra luggage fees for Bro. David but I am so thankful he was willing to lug around a very heavy extra piece of luggage all the way to Africa.

Everything arrived safe and sound and the leadership in the school was glad to receive the gift. I do not have any pictures of them receiving it but here is the picture of 65 lbs.of school supplies stuffed in a piece of luggage and ready to go.

They needed pencils, pens, flashcards for math and reading, dry erase boards, dry erase markers and paper. They had never seen dry erase boards before we took some and they were a big hit. We try to purchase high quality flashcards that are plastic coated because the heat and humidity really takes a toll on paper. And of course we threw in a big bag of suckers too.

I received an email from Sis. Ruth and Sis. Rebecca two days ago expressing their gratitude.

Greetings to you in Jesus name. How are you all and the ministry? We heartily appreciate you for the materials & gifts sent to us. It's really a blessing. We pray God will greatly increase and multiply your family in Jesus name. Thanks so much. RUTH &REBECCA (NIGERIA)

I am extending their thanks and gratitude to you. Without your help we could not do it. God bless you for sharing my burden for Nigeria. I know that most of you will never travel to Nigeria and witness first hand how your money helps the saints there to spread the Gospel message but you give anyway. Thank you for trusting us to distribute those resources to the various needs. It is a responsibility that I take very seriously.

We were also able to send an offering for Pastor Shobanke to use in the church or however he needs to use it and also an offering to help pay Sis. Ruth and Sis. Rebecca's salaries at the school. I also sent a small offering for one of the other Pastors and for Sis. Dorcas. May God bless you for making that possible.

Thanks for reading.

The Tent Is Down

Early Monday morning I went to the tent to prepare every thing for taking it down later in the evening. I organized everything in the trailer and strapped it all in and then I took down the lights that were still hanging in the tent. We had a very heavy dew overnight so the tent and ground were very wet. It would take a miracle to get the tent down dry especially with a 50% chance of storms most of the day.

Yet that is exactly what happened. The rain moved out, the sunshine pushed through the clouds and a steady wind blew all day long. By the time we gathered a few minutes before 6:00 the tent was dry. There was a little water in the folds but it was easily dried and we placed the tent in the bags with no visible moisture. Praise God, that takes a big worry off of me.

We had lots of help and in 30 minutes the tent was down and packed away in the trailer. Bro. Switzer moved the tent trailer to the pavement for me with his truck. I will be able to back right up to it later this morning and hook up with no problem. Once we get the Green Machine loaded we will turn the BoggsMobile toward Millry, Alabama.

We are around 590 miles from there right now. I would like to drive most of that today and Thursday and make Wednesday a rest day. That will work IF I can find a suitable place to park a 72' long rig between here and there. We will be pulling in Friday and trying to figure out the placement of the bus, the trailer and the tent. We are having tent revival on the same piece of property as we did last year but we are parking the bus and setting the tent in different locations on the property. I will sort it all out when I get there.

After the tent was down and secure we went for one last meal with the Hortons and the Switzers. We have enjoyed their fellowship so much this week. They are all very fine people with big hearts full of love and compassion. We love being around their Godly influence.

It is difficult to leave them and move on down the road but that is what we are called to do. Even though we must leave we take comfort in two things. By God's grace we will be back around to see our friends in Bristol again and secondly we are on our way to be with other dear friends that we have been missing and are excited to see.

God bless you all.
