Clean Feet!

We were visiting with a bunch of church folks many, many years ago and laughing (as we often do) about funny things that have happened in church. The Pastor and his people were telling funny things that he had said in the pulpit. We were rolling in laughter and it kept getting funnier and funnier and the stories progressed.

Finally, one of the men said, "Our Pastor has the cleanest feet of any preacher we know." I walked right into his trap and said, "Cleanest feet? What are you talking about?" "Yep" he said, "Our preacher has the cleanest feet of anyone we know, because he is constantly putting his feet in his mouth!"

Maybe you just had to be there, but that statement was hilarious. It was absolutely hilarious! I laughed until I about cried and I have never forgotten it.

Like all great jokes the root of the humor was in the truth behind it. I had heard their Pastor (a very fine man) make some gut-busting bloopers in and out of the pulpit. It is very easy to do.

I am sure that some of us are more prone to make verbal gaffes than others but the fact is this. If you talk very much in front of others, you will say something funny! Believe me, I have said my share of funny things and most of them you will never hear about.

I should write a book about things I have heard in church and another book about things I have heard in conversation but I would have to include my own bloopers and I can not bring myself to do it! Plus, I would probably not be welcome in most churches. They would think I was on the lookout for material for my next book.

I mentioned in the comments of yesterday's blog that I really stuck my foot in my mouth Tuesday night. I had said earlier that night that if I could some how physically stick my foot in my mouth, that it would be such a contortion, I could sell tickets. Well, I missed my opportunity!

This is me and Bro. Derek Snellgrove. The fact that he is standing close to me in this picture and smiling, hopefully means that all is forgiven. Maybe it is true.

We were talking about the way something sounds and I blurted out a disparaging comment that I have said at least a thousand times to describe something that does not sound as good as it should.

I said, "It sounds like an AM radio!"

The problem? Bro Derek owns and operates WELB AM 1350 Southern Gospel radio station. I do not know if Bro. Jon Isaacs said something or kind of pointed or nodded at Bro. Derek next to him but I immediately connected my statement with Bro. Derek's AM station and turned 37 shades of red in my face!

There was nothing I could do but hide my face and laugh with them!

Oh, well, at least my feet are clean!

One thing is certain. I will do my very best to strike that phrase from vocabulary!

Thanks for reading.

Revival In Pictures - Grace Fellowship Church

We finished revival Tuesday night with a great service at Grace Fellowship Holiness Church near Elba, Alabama. We really enjoyed being with all of our dear friends. This was a special revival and it seems that God came near His people every night. Praise God for His mercy and His grace.

We love Pastor Jon, Sis. Heidi and their girls. We really hated saying goodbye last night. We will roll out this morning by God's grace but we will be kind of sad to leave. Thank you all for loving us, embracing us and treating us so well. You have taught your people to love and we are the beneficiary of it. God bless you all!

May God bless all the Grace Fellowship Holiness Church. You all are a special group of people and we are thankful that God allowed us to spend some time with you.

Here are a few more pictures from the last two nights of revival. Thanks for reading.

Planning and Vision Services For City Reach

You can always access our schedule by clicking on the picture of BoggsMobile in the sidebar. That link will take you to the Google Calendar on our website. There have been times when I have fallen behind on keeping the schedule updated but usually it is pretty accurate. It is always a good idea to call and confirm dates before driving a long distance or making advanced reservations because things can and do change at the most inopportune time.

I try to mention on here if we have a last minute or major change in our schedule but sometimes that gets by me too. I do have a few things I would like to make you aware of schedule wise.

Revival next week, November 15-18 was scheduled to go through Friday night the 20th. Pastor Marshall Adcock contacted me last week and had to shorten it to Wednesday because of something that was scheduled at the end of the week.

We were supposed to be with Pastor Tony St. Cyr November 21-22 in Cartersville, Georgia. The dates are still correct but the church has moved to Adairsville, Georgia.

We are planning to be home for Thanksgiving but then we will do a ten day whirlwind tour as part of City Reach. While planning for City Reach Wichita last year Pastor Don Crowley asked me to go to his church and preach my vision to his people and the people from all the other participating churches that wanted to come.

He said he wanted his leadership and his church folks to buy into the City Reach vision like he had. He believed I was the best one to share that vision. We called it a Planning and Vision Service and we had that in Wichita last December.

God moved in a marvelous way that night and the people caught the vision for City Reach Wichita. City Reach in September was an overwhelming success and that was fostered in large part by the Planning and Vision Service last December.

I decided then that I would save some time this December to go to as many cities as possible and do a Planning and Vision Service to prepare for City Reach.

The first will be in Dayton, OH at Dryden Rd. Church on Tuesday December 1st in support of City Reach Dayton.

The next will be in Richmond, Indiana at Eaton Pike on Thursday December 3rd in support of City Reach Richmond.

Then we will go to Sapulpa, Oklahoma at Bethany Holiness Church on Friday December 4th in support of City Reach Tulsa.

The following night we will go to Blanchard, Oklahoma at Blanchard Holiness Church on Saturday December 5th in support of City Reach Oklahoma City.

Two nights later we will be near Ft. Worth, Texas at Victory Tabernacle Holiness on Monday December 7th in support of City Reach Ft. Worth.

Finally will be be in Bristow, Virginia at Bristow Assembly on Friday December 11th in support of City Reach Washington DC.

We will going to other cities for City Reach by God's grace but these are the cities we could fit in for a Vision and Planning Service. Letters are going out this week to churches in the cities listed. If you are any where near these cities come be with us a catch the vision of City Reach.

Another addition to the schedule is that we will preach both services on Sunday December 6th for Pastor Lendell Birdsong in Blanchard, Oklahoma.

I am sure we will have an exciting trip and we should be home by December 14. That will give us a few days to catch our breath before we roll our wheels again.

That catches us up I think. Thanks for reading.
