Revival In Pictures-Central City, Kentucky

Wow! What a wonderful week with our dear friends in Central City, Kentucky. Pastor Alan Harris, his sweet wife, Sis. Tammy and great folks at Trinity must be gluttons for punishment. They keep inviting us over and over and acting like they enjoy it!

One thing that we know for sure, we love every minute of it. We have been coming here for many years and having a ball on each visit. The fellowship is grand, the food is delicious and the revival services are always top notch.

This year has been no exception and we appreciate Bro. Harris for inviting us to come. It is our happy privilege to be here each year.

Sunday morning was Pastor Appreciation service and we were honored to be part of the celebration. Bro. Alan and Sis. Tammy pour their hearts into the work in Central City and it was a joy to applaud them and hopefully encourage them.

We hope you enjoy the wonderful Revival In Pictures. Along with the great friends from Central City, you will also notice a few familar faces that visited us during revival! We are thankful for all of them.

Thank you for visiting Mile Markers today.

Aunt Theresa Osborn Is Fifty and Fabulous

Scheduling Note: Due to a death associated with the church, there will be no service here Sunday night November 14. Sunday morning will be our last service of revival

Hey Friends,

This is Odie coming to you today from Central City, Kentucky. Thank you for visiting with me! It is a pleasure to spend a few moments of my weekend with you.

I hope you have had a good week so far. This has been a week full of excitement for us. It is always a great blessing for us to be with Pastor Alan and Sis. Tammy Harris!

We have enjoyed three wonderful services with our friends here at Trinity Pentecostal Church. By faith, I am looking forward to two more excellent services of revival. Tomorrow we will complete our fall tour. Monday the BoggsMobile will be bound for Ohio!

Aunt Theresa Osborn Is Fifty and Fabulous
Today I want to honor a very special person. Did you see the calendar alerts for today’s date? It is a national holiday!

November 13 2021, is my Aunt Theresa Boggs Osborn’s birthday. Ladies and Gentlemen, Theresa is now 50! This golden milestone birthday deserves a little celebration here on the blog.

Aunt Theresa, Happy 50th Birthday! I hope your 50th birthday is exceptional! I also hope your next 50 years are terrific! We will celebrate your big birthday together soon. Lunch has to be my treat this time! 😃

I love you more than I can express with words! You absolutely are "Fifty and Fabulous"! Thank you for always being my cool aunt. You have always been there for me.

I know that you were just 13 when I came along. Thank you for babysitting me and allowing me to tag along. There had to be times when having a young niece that wanted to be your shadow was an inconvenience, but you never treated me as if I was a burden.

The countless special memories that we have collected will always be a treasure to me. Thank you for allowing our bond to always be tight.  Miles, hours or oceans that have separated us could not tear us apart.

You have always been an instrumental part of my life. I will forever be grateful for you! I want the world to know that I am proud to say Theresa Osborn is my aunt!

Aunt Theresa my hope for this blog post is, that you feel extra loved and special! You deserve to be celebrated! I think you are awesome! 36 years and counting, you are still on my hero list!

Please join me in wishing my Aunt Theresa a Happy 50th Birthday! If you know Theresa, then you know that she is a precious lady!

Thanks for reading. I will see you again next Saturday.

It Has Been Another Great Week! 11/12/21

Scheduling Note: Due to a death associated with the church, there will be no service here Sunday night November 14. Sunday morning will be our last service of revival

Our week began with the finishing of revival at High Point Pentecostal Church in Paducah, Kentucky. We had a wonderful time with Pastor Doug Stevens and his family and church. Have you seen the Revival In Pictures? We posted them on Monday.

Speaking of Monday, it was a busy and productive day. The weather was beautiful so while KJo and Odie were gone doing laundry, I worked on some maintenance items on the bus. The generator oil needed to be changed and while I was doing that, I also cleaned the hush box as well as the air filter canister for the generator.

I noticed some clamps needed to be tightened and discovered a very small coolant leak. It is a wonder things hold together as much as they do with all the vibration that happens in the generator hush box.

We also shared another meal with Pastor Stevens and his family and we enjoyed the extra fellowship very much. We loved parking at High Point too. It is so close to town, yet smack in the middle of the country. Perfect!

Monday evening and Tuesday morning I worked on recording and loading videos for A Word For Wednesday. I wanted to record and upload at High Point, because the phone and internet signal has historically been nearly nonexistent at the church in Central City.

I am happy to report that we do have a smidgen of cell signal at the church this week. It is not near signal enough to load a video, but we can make a call and do limited online work if we stand still and exercise patience. We are thankful for it.

Tuesday afternoon, we cranked the BoggsMobile, pulled up to the church in Paducah and loaded our sound equipment with the help of Bro. Stevens and his family. We stopped at Love's in Calvert City to do the work of the evangelist and then completed the 110 mile drive to Trinity Pentecostal Church on the west side of Central City.

We pulled in about 4:00 and Pastor Alan Harris and his wife, Sis. Tammy were waiting for us with big smiles and hugs all around. We have been preaching revivals here for many years and it seems like it has been forever since we have been here.

They helped us load in equipment, get the bus parked and hooked up and then we visited a while. It was way past dark and I was ready to go to bed, when I discovered it was only 5:30! Nothing like a busy day and a time change to upset your body clock!

The revival began Wednesday night and we have been enjoying services, meals and wonderful fellowship with our friends. Thursday night we had special friends visit the service and bless us so much. Hopefully, you will see pictures of them in the Revival In Pictures post on Monday.

A Clean Bill of Health ... For The BoggsMobile

We have our engine oil professionally analyzed after every oil change in the BoggsMobile. This is done as early detection of any internal engine trouble. A sudden appearance of certain metals or other substances in the oil can point to a problem that needs to be addressed before it is catastrophic.

The Detroit 60 Series engine in the BoggsMobile is a great engine with a proven track record of longevity, but we do not want to take unnecessary chances. If there is a problem, we would like to know as early as possible.

We have used different companies to analyze the oil, but we found one a few years ago that works great. I purchase the sample kits directly from a Catapiler dealer in Mississippi.

When I have the oil changed, I have the mechanic capture a sample and I drop it in a postage paid bag, along with the pertinent information and it goes straight to the dealer.

The Catapiler dealer network handles literally hundreds of fluid samples each week. They have a guy there that does nothing else. He packages everything and overnights them to a professional analysis company and then emails me the results within a day or two.

He not only sends me the official report, but also interprets the information for me in a personal email. The information he gives me and the effort he puts into it are invaluable to me.

The oil sample is normally taken at oil change and the oil needs to be at operating temperature. I neglected to bring it up to temperature for my last oil change. I pulled in the night before and then cranked up in the morning and pulled inside. The oil was very cold.

When the sample results came back he noticed something a little out of line. I told him that I neglected to get the engine up to operating temperatures and he figured that was the problem. He asked for a sample at about 7500 miles to be sure.

There are two ways to get a sample in between oil changes. Number one is to get under the bus, drain a gallon or so of oil and capture a sample from that. Unfortunately without a pit or lifts, that is not going to happen.

I could park next to a ditch with plenty of room to get underneath. However, the oil is hot and it would be difficult and probably dangerous to get the plug back into the oil pan. I might end up with the other nine gallons running on the ground and creating an EPA superfund site.

The second method is to insert a tube down into the dipstick and use a purpose-designed hand pump and extract the sample. Either way, the oil must be up to operating temperature.

While traveling from Moore, Oklahoma to Paducah, Kentucky last week, we pulled into the Missouri Welcome Center on I-44 near Joplin. I stopped there to rest an hour or two AND to pull the sample.

Sorry, no pictures, our hands were kind of full!😍

After I shut down the engine, KJo helped me pull a sample through the dipstick. I filled in all of the information and then we dropped the postage paid bag into a USPS drop at the Petro on the next exit

This week we received good news. The sample looks great and we are good to continue down the road to the next oil change. It is always a relief to get a good report! Whew!

Each sample costs about $20 but the peace of mind is worth every last penny of it!

Praise God for the good news! I love sharing good news! Thank you for reading today.

A Word For Wednesday The Call To Repentance

It is time for A Word For Wednesday. A Few minutes ago, I posted A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel.

The Call To Repentance

A Word for Wednesday for this week is The Call To Repentance from Mark 2:17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

If you enjoy this, please subscribe, thumbs up the video and share the video with someone.😍

Thank you for stopping by Mile Markers.

A Working Warranty?

Do warranties work out good for you? I have horror stories of warranties leaving us high and dry. It seems we have been left without coverage and without recourse too many times to remember.

Our latest warranty episode may be the exception to the rule at our house. I hope so.

We purchased a portable oxygen concentrator in late March of this year. As of Tuesday, 11/2/21, I had used it 1658 hours.

This unit pulses oxygen rather than constant flow and it is supposed to pulse when you breathe in. It has ceased to sense my breath and is pulsing every two seconds no matter when I am breathing.

We purchased a lifetime warranty including everything but water and fire damage so it should be covered. We have done that song and dance before and we were not looking forward to a return performance.

I thought we would have to overnight it to them and then they would overnight it back so I was waiting for the driving days between Oklahoma and Kentucky.

I called them and explained the malfunction and they decided to ship a replacement to me. I had them ship the "new" one to Paducah and it was waiting when we arrived.

It has 232 hours so it is a refurbished unit. That is no problem since it is a lifetime warranty.

It is nice to have it working properly again. Here are the two units side by side. The original is on the left and the newer one is on the right. They are exactly the same. The height difference is because of the battery.

As of Monday, the seller had not confirmed the FedEx return shipment although it was shipped one week before. Once it is there and confirmed I will breathe a sigh of relief.

I may have to change my tune on warranties, but my pessimism is still strong in that department. How about you?

Thank you for spending a few minutes with me.
