Vintage View Vednesday Miami, OK 2010

We are constantly amazed at all the beautiful people God puts in our path. It is especially moving when we get to meet and preach for men and women that had a great influence on our early lives. Bro. George Davis Sr. and his family had an amazing impact on us and preaching for George Davis Jr and Mike and Ruth (Davis) was a wonderful treat for us.

We knew these people from a distance, but getting to know them up close and minister to their families and the churches they pastored was something we never imagined getting to do. Today I have pictures from one of our revival in Miami, Oklahoma for Bro. Mike and Sis. Ruth.

We also have a tribute video that Bro. Jim Davis compiled and posted on YouTube. It is a tribute to Sis. Ruth. She passed away in the late fall of last year and it is hard to believe she is gone. I will put the video at the end of the post after the Vintage View pictures.

Thank you all for stopping by today!

Adapting Without Changing

We in the American church are having church the best way we can. I suppose the whole world has been forced to do things differently than normal, but I am obviously more aware of what is going on in America than in other places.

Pastors and church leadership are trying to do the very best they can to continue having church. Some churches have been broadcasting the audio of their services on Mixlr for a few years. Others have been broadcasting video of their services on YouTube and other platforms for a few years.

In some ways, these churches were a bit ahead of the curve. They were ahead of the curve in that they already had technology in place. They were also ahead in that their people and others outside their church were more familiar with the apps and knowledge necessary to access the electronic services.

The rest of us were scrambling. Churches went searching for ways to have church and some method to allow their people to hear or hear and see the services without gathering inside the sanctuary.

I was familiar with Mixlr. Several of our City Reach Tent Revival Services were broadcast on Mixlr in 2016. We have been listening to services on that platform since then, especially the preaching of our Pastor and Associate Pastor.

I knew nothing about broadcasting on Mixlr or YouTube. In the space of one weekend I learned everything I could about Mixlr and YouTube and on Monday, March 23, we had our first Online Revival service. We have had revival every night since then plus we have been asked to record our services for several other churches too.

Our initial commitment to have revival turned what could have been absolute downtime into a very busy ministry season! As I said in the beginning, Kelly Jo and I are not released from our calling from God just because the church is not meeting as usual. We must be faithful to our mission.

That is exactly what we have been trying to do. We are singing, we are preaching and we are moving forward in evangelism the best way we can find.

Churches are in the same position. They are trying to have church. They are trying to sing. They are trying to teach. They are trying to preach. They are trying to minister to their people the best they can without gathering them together in one building.

I absolutely love seeing churches take their services outside the four walls of the church. I am excitedly watching churches set up on the porch or in the parking lot and preach to people sitting in their cars. We have been doing that for years from under a tent and it thrills us to see the church's reach expand! Hallelujah!

It is just now getting (Almost) warm enough for outdoor services in southern Ohio. I expect to see more and more of them as spring weather tries to stick its head up and push winter aside. We considered in March taking our revival service outside, but the cold cramped my style.

As the country opens up in the next few weeks (Hopefully) everything we are doing will probably evolve again. We are going to have to continue to think outside the box and do what God has called us all to do.

What that looks like, I do not know. I have ideas. I have expressed those ideas to friends and I even mentioned an idea during revival the other night. We may have to mark off the places where people can sit in the church and still keep 6-8' of distance, figure up how many can attend at a time and have church in shifts.

God help us to do whatever we need to do. We want to adapt our methods without changing the message. Let us press forward, my dear brothers and sisters! Let us explore new territory and take new ground.

I believe this can be the church's finest hour, but we can not be timid in our approach. We must find our direction and be bold! God help us all!

Thank you for reading today.

What's Up, Weekend?

More church and more tacos! Those are two ingredients to a wonderful weekend!

That just about completely sums up the weekend and what a mighty fine weekend it was. We appreciate the tremendous vocal support for the online revival. We are praising God every day for His help and encouragement. HE is blessing others and HE is blessing us and together we are having revival. Hallelujah!

We changed things up a little bit over the weekend from previous weekends of the online revival. We have been having Sunday night singalong, but this weekend we had Saturday night singalong.

That is one advantage of doing something outside of the box. Outside of the box, there is no pattern. There are no precedents. There are no traditions. There are no sacred cows. We can pretty much go with the flow and change as necessary.

This weekend we did just that and the next few nights are a bit different too. We are still in revival, but we are also having revival via Live Stream at High Point Pentecostal Church in Paducah, Kentucky. Pastor Doug Stevens and his church will be having service online from their sanctuary, with congregational singing and all the rest.

When he turns the service to us, we will sing a couple of songs and move straight into preaching as we normally do (At least it USED to be normal) in our regular revivals back in the old world 6 weeks ago.

When you tune in to Boggs Family Ministries on YouTube and Mixlr, you will hear our part of the service, two songs and then preaching. I will not be leading a worship service this week as I have the previous 4 weeks of revival, because they are conducting their own worship service.

I think it got off to a good start last night and we are looking forward to the rest of the week. Thank you for the positive feedback. We are listening.

I do have a few pictures from the weekend. I mentioned tacos didn't I?

Look what Odie and a few of the viewers found last night.

Pastor Stevens said we had a special guest, Miss Minnie Pearl!

That wraps up the weekend. See you tonight at 8:00 for revival.

It is Sunday! 4/19/2020

Our Sunday post is normally short and sweet, snap a picture and out the door we go, but since our view out the front window is unchanging lately, how about a few words?😀

We are continuing online revival tonight and all next week, but we are also having revival via Live Stream at High Point Pentecostal Church in Paducah, Kentucky. Pastor Doug Stevens and his musicians will be having service in their sanctuary, with congregational singing and all the rest.

When he turns the service to us, (In Odie's garage) we will sing a couple of songs and move straight into preaching as we normally do (At least it USED to be normal) in our regular revivals back in the old world 6 weeks ago.

This means the services this week will be slightly different. At 8:00 PM Eastern we will be joining their service in progress and we will roll right on through the end of the service. When you tune in to Boggs Family Ministries on YouTube and Mixlr, you will hear our part of the service, two songs and then preaching.

I will not be leading a worship service during the service like I have the previous 4 weeks of revival, because they are conducting their own worship service. I hope you will continue to join us. I am excited about continuing revival AND about joining with High Point Pentecostal Church and Pastor Doug Stevens.

Here is our service from last night, Saturday Night Singalong.

May God bless you with a great Sunday.

A Ray of Sunshine

This weekend we are finishing our fourth week of online revival and we are loving every minute of it. Come join us each night at 8:00 PM Eastern.

A Ray of Sunshine
We all need something to help us smile! A child can brighten the darkest day. Children are a precious blessing from God! I am grateful for the breath of fresh air they bring to my world.

Earlier this month I posted about my cousin Chalie. You can find that post here. Charlie has a big cousin that is just a little older than him. Jo Jo lives here in Ohio, and she is our family princess!

Jo Jo is getting to be so big. She is a lot of fun! I was able to be with her several times last month before the world shut down. I am happy that she was warming up to me. The last time that I saw her she said "Hi O"! I officially melted! I miss her so much right now.

I did get some good pictures of Jo when we were together. Her mom sent me some cute pictures recently. Thanks, Taylor, for giving me permission to share them. Uncle Steve also keeps me smiling with pictures of Jo Jo. I am glad that I can look at this precious girl and smile.

Today I wanted to cheer you up. I hope these pictures bring you a smile too. Please enjoy the pictures of "Princess JoJo below!"

Thanks for visiting with me! I pray God blesses you this weekend. Hang in there, my dear friends!

Odie

Here she was thinking about what she could get into next.

Snacks With Papa Great are the best.

Jo discovered my wheelchair.

Jo thought Papa Great had to carry her doggy and she had her baby.

She loves to FaceTime Charlie and Aunt D.

Giving Nana Great some love.

Naptime on Mamaw.

Then she decided to snuggle with Auntie O. I was shocked and thrilled!

These two pictures are from Taylor.

.

Jo and her Mother were both glad for a sunny day and a break from the house.

These two pictures are from her Papaw, which is my Uncle Steve. I said she was a cool dudet in this picture.

I know that my Dad already posted this one. I cried when I saw this picture of JoJo worshipping during the online revival. It is a good place to wrap this up.

Revival In Pictures Waynesville, OH 4.0

We have a few pictures for our Revival In Pictures post this week, but we have lots of videos! This is from the revival service last night.

This is Mom and Dad all dressed up for church. I think this was Easter morning.

I missed adding this one this morning, but I am adding it now. Bro. Alan Sumner joining us from Honduras. Great to have you, my brother!

Pastor Alan Harris playing guitar with us one night during revival. Great playing, Bro. Alan!

What happened to spring?

Unfortunately, revival is not all fun and games. Online revival takes some work to get it all to fly!

But with a little salsa in the mix, it is OK!

We appreciate Pastor EJ Lamb and his family for providing salsa and Mexican food.

And it was good to see Mom and Dad and cousin Lisa.

And a few pictures from Odie

I hope you enjoyed the Revival In Pictures. Thank you for stopping by today.

Oops! A Glitch!

I had a post ready to go up today, but it will save. We had a hiccup last night at the beginning of the revival service. We always turn on Mixlr first and make sure it is live and then turn on the YouTube feed. That is where the trouble began.

I am using a third party App on my iPhone. That is what you must do in order to Livestream on YouTube with less than 1000 subscribers. We are less than 300 subscribers from that plateau.

Last night the third party App said the Livestream was on, but when I checked YouTube on my laptop, there was no Livestream. The third party App would quit recording after about 45 seconds. Ugh!

I tried it multiple times with the same result. I tried closing the App and even tried cycling the phone off and back on. No difference. After about 12 minutes of fiddling with it, I decided to record the service and post it later. About an hour or so after service, I had the video posted.

We disappointed a lot of folks that were ready to have church and we are sorry for that. I hate it so bad! Last night I had to shake myself, step up and have church and I believe the Lord helped us to do so.

We are trying to get to the bottom of the glitch and find out what we must do to prevent a reoccurrence. Pray for me IF you will.

Here is the clip from last night. I hope you enjoy. Please share with others, since folks that missed it may not know to come here to look for it. This is the sharable link, Boggs Family Wednesday Night.

Thank you for reading.
