Vintage View Vednesday East Glacier/Canada 2007

Good morning, friends. Welcome to 2020! May God give you an amazing year as you walk with Him. Last year was quite a ride. Thank you for going along with us.

Vintage View Vednesday
There are times when I am sure that I am overloading you all with pictures. I have thought about omitting the Vintage View Vednesday altogether, even though I still have quite a few more pictures in our vast dusty archives. However, I received some encouragement this last week to keep posting pictures of our travels.

Glendon is a relative that we seldom get to see. He told cousin Lisa recently that he is getting to see places in our pictures that he will never get to see himself. So thank you, cousin Glendon, for the encouragement. I have a whole bunch of pictures for you to see today and probably many more times in the future.

For those of you that are pictured out, I will have more words than pictures tomorrow, by God's grace.๐Ÿ˜‰

Today's Vintage View Vednesday is a continuation of the Montana trip in the fall of 2007. We took my parents with us on a whirlwind tour of the west on our way to preach a revival for Sun Valley Church and Pastor Mike Metzger in Florence, Montana.

I left off two weeks ago with pictures from our drive across Montana and ending on the east side of Glacier National Park. We paid for two nights at the Circle R Motel in the town of East Glacier, Montana.

Our plan was to spend the first day driving along the east side of the park and then drive into Canada. There is an area of Glacier National Park that is north of the Going To The Sun Road called Many Glacier. It is a drive into the park surrounded by mountains and next to gorgeous glacier fed lakes. It is beautiful.

Then we drove into Canada to the National Lakes National Park of Canada and onward to the famous and picturesque Prince of Wales Hotel. We had an adventurous border crossing (Ask me about it sometime๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜‡) saw fantastic scenery and even a few black bear.

It was an awesome day that I hope I never forget. We ended the day back in East Glacier.

Here are a few bunch of pictures. I hope you enjoy. I will have a little running commentary sprinkled in with the pictures.

We were on the lookout for Grizzly. Is that a Grizzly ahead? Nope, just a cow.

We stopped for breakfast near the main east side entrance to Glacier National Park. I have a funny story that involves that restaurant that happened the following morning. I will try to share it with you in ou next installment of Vintage View pictures.

Grizzly? Nope!

Grizzly? Maybe.

Grizzly? Nope, but a big black bear! That was exciting.

Gizzly? Nope, another black bear!

We reentered the USA and drove back to East Glacier, Montana for another night in the Circle R. Next up? Driving the Going to the Sun Road through Glacier National Park.

See you soon. Thank you for reading.

My Days Are Swifter Than A Weaver's Shuttle December 31, 2019

The year of 2019 has disappeared! Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh and it is gone, faster than a weaver's shuttle.

On the last day of 2018 we were traveling in the BoggsMobile from Hodgenville, Kentucky to Harrison, Indian to preach the Watch Night Service for Pastor Wade Hicks at West Harrison Pentecostal Church. My brother Steve and his wife Karen were traveling with us that weekend and it seems like it was only a week or two ago. Wow! How does that happen?

I know that we have driven a bunch of miles since December 31, 2018. We have been in a lot of states, preached in a gob of churches and experienced way more trouble than we wanted and way more joy than we could have imagined, but how in the world did it go by so fast?

Only a few days ago, it seems, we were setting up our sound equipment at West Harrison, eating lunch with Steve and Karen and then having a wonderful evening of church and fellowship with Bro. Hicks and all of our friends. We gathered to pray the old year out and the New Year in, but I do not remember asking the Lord to let 2019 fly by like a bolt of lightning.

Swoosh! It was here today and it will be gone tomorrow!

While the year was flying by, we witnessed and personally enjoyed many, many, many wonderful blessings from the Lord. In the flash that was 2019, we beheld God saving people, healing families, encouraging Pastors, loving on churches and working the miraculous in the lives of others and in our own lives.

Even during the uncertain and troubling times of 2019, God's hand was working behind the scenes to bring us through.

We experienced two major bus breakdowns within 30 days. Later Odie was in a horrible car accident and the Green Machine broke down too. In fact, the Green Machine spent time in three different repair shops in three different states for three different problems.

We have cried with friends as they laid loved ones to rest and we have prayed for a multitude of friends that have walked through various difficult situations in 2019.

Through every test and trial in the last 365 days, God has been faithful, God has been present and God has been powerful! It has been an amazing year. It has flown by incredibly fast, but we have made it to this point by the grace of God!

I read an opinion years ago about why it seems time gets faster as we go. It makes sense to me.

When we are young, waiting for another Christmas to come or for summer to roll around, it seems like forever. In our young lives, it really is forever. When we are ten years old, a year is a full tenth of our lives, even more, if you consider that you do not remember much about the first three or four years.

The year between December 31, 2018 and December 31, 2019 is less than 1/52 of my life. For a 75 year old man, a year is only 1/75 of his life. Spaces of time seem shorter and moving faster, because they are an increasingly smaller portion of our entire lives.

If that is part of the reason time is flying by, then it will certainly get faster and faster, because one thing is for sure, we are not fixing to start our years over. I will never be ten again and I am kind of happy about that. I was so stupid as a teenager and I do not want to go back through all of that mess again.

I have now lived out well over 52 years. As a youth 1/52 of my year was a week. Now, 1/52 of my whole life is a year. No wonder years go by and it feels like a week. Yep, time is flying. However, I am content to live my years as God gives them, even though they seem more like weeks in length.

In a week or so I will sit down at my computer and tell you about some of the joys and sorrows of the 12 months, 52 weeks and 365+ days that made up 2020. The year will be gone and we will be entering 2021 if God permits.

Think about this. Is time really all that important? It is the focus of this post, it is the focus of our watches, our clocks, our calendars and it is the focus of most of what we do. My mind is consumed almost entirely by time. It is the way my brain is wired. What time is it? How much time is left? Are we ready to leave on time? Will we arrive on time?

Slow down a moment, Davy. What is more important, time or eternity? We know the answer to that, right?

Let us live for God this year, for soon time will be no more. I am determined to live those fast disappearing days in service to God and to His people. I can think of no better way to experience time than by focusing on eternity.

Thank you for reading.

Our Weekend In The Rearview Mirror 12/30/19

It was a busy, wonderful weekend and we enjoyed every busy, wonderful minute of it. During the day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, I have been whittling away at the big list of things that need to be accomplished at the bus, the barn and the house. The weather has been beautiful so that has helped a lot.

Thursday night was the first night of revival at Dryden Rd. We have been in church every night since then and we have been having a wonderful time.

We will have a bunch more pictures from revival later, but here are a few.

Friday night we went to Bro. Jeff and Sis. Debbie Roberts house after church with several others. They have been having us over during the New Year's revival for years and we always enjoy it.

Saturday afternoon, Bro. Katte and Sis. Laura invited us into their home for some traditional African food. They are originally from Cameroon, but they sure did make me homesick of Nigeria. We love these folks and we love spending time with them.

After church Saturday night, we left for the 200 mile drive to Hodgenville Pentecostal Church in Hodgenville, Kentucky. We were scheduled to preach their 5th Sunday service before Bro. Sutherland called me about revival at Dryden Rd. He was gracious to allow us to be gone Sunday morning.

We had a wonderful service at HPC. We enjoyed singing and preaching and it was terrific to see people responding in the altar. We love Bro. David Webb and his people and we are always blessed to be there in their services. Odie took a few pictures.

Not long after service, we were peddling the Green Machine north toward Dayton as fast as we could. Traffic was heavier on the return trip and it took us a little longer, but we pulled into Dryden Rd. at 4:30 Sunday afternoon. I leaned the car seat back and took a 25 minute nap. Wow! I felt like a new man!

The service Sunday night was amazing from the very beginning. Bro. Bennie had his finger on the pulse of the service and he exhorted us into a wonderful worship service. He turned the service to us, but the worship service never really ended. We followed right in the same vane and God touched a bunch of folks including us.

Praise God for helping His people. WE are so needy and He loves to come to our rescue.

We had not eaten a regular meal Sunday so after church we met my brother Steve at Frisch's in Franklin. We had a good meal and wonderful fellowship to wrap up a super great weekend.

Thank you for reading today. If you are near, please come be with us in revival tonight and Tuesday. We would love to have you.

The View Out The Front Window 12/29/19

Our view this week out the front window is a beautiful view of the barn so I will share this awesome view instead.

This is the wonderful view of KJo's homemade tacos that she has prepared for me twice this week. Her tacos will rival ANY tacos I have ever eaten and that is saying a great big mouthful!

Here are the links from our posts over the last week.

Thank you for taking the time to drop by on Sunday. Have a great Lord's day.
