This Week in Review 6/19/2020

After the weekend we were at loose ends until Wednesday night. We were waking up in Moore, Oklahoma and there was no place we had to be until Wednesday evening in Seymour, Missouri.

We knew those two days of free time were coming and we planned to either visit friends around Tusla, Joplin or Springfield. We had seriously considered hibernating in a hotel room for two days and doing nothing.

But I had underestimated the pull of having my brother living in Wichita would have on me. He did not pull me himself, but the knowledge that I could very easily drive north to Wichita, spend a little time with Steve and Karen, while perhaps helping them unpack a little from moving, had a powerful persuasive effect on me.

We rested Monday morning, visited Chelino's again Monday afternoon and then pointed the rental car north.

We spent a few hours with Steve and Karen Monday evening and several more hours Tuesday. We ate plenty of tacos, among other things, visited and worked a little too. We are so glad we made the detour and we hope we did not hinder their work too much.

Wednesday morning we drove about 300 miles from Wichita to the Seymour Holiness Church in Seymour, Missouri arriving about 4:00 PM. Bro. Jeffery and Sis. Rebecca Blankenship have been pastoring in Seymour for over a year and we were thrilled to get a chance to see them again.

Sis. Rebecca had scrumptious tacos ready when we arrived! What an amazing welcome!

It was wonderful to spend time with our dear friends and to sing and preach in their church. We have been to this church before and met many of the people in other places, but it was so good to worship the Lord with them. We appreciate the warm welcome and their generous hospitality.

We do not often stay in evangelist quarters for two reasons. First, I normally carry my own bed with me. Secondly, most accommodations are difficult for Odie to navigate. Neither of those reasons applied Wednesday so we enjoyed the evangelist quarters in Seymour.

We were scheduled to preach less than 90 minutes east on Thursday so we were in no hurry to leave Seymour. We had a relaxing day! Thank you, Bro. Jeffery and Sis. Rebecca and the Seymour Church!

Next up was an early supper with Pastor Ronald Coots and his family at El Charro in West Plains, Missouri. After good Mexican, it was time for church with Bro. and Sis. Coots and their folks at Victory Pentecostal Holiness Church in Birch Tree, Missouri.

This was our first visit to this church, but we have known Bro. Ronald and Sis. Candy since they were young and we love them so much. The church was recently able to buy this building and it is wonderful!

We had a great time with our friends, but we had to leave after church. Kelly, Odie and I are supposed to sing and preach for a Zoom service for my friend, Pastor Johnson George in Michigan tonight, so we needed to make tracks toward home.

We will finish the drive today by God's grace, reunite with Odie and be ready to go by church time.

Yesterday I posted a clip of us singing a single song. I am going to try to do that occasionally. Yesterday's song is He Knows My Name written by Annie McRae. If you subscribe to our YouTube Channel and click on the bell to be notified of things we post, you will be notified each time we post something.

Thank you for spending a bit of time with us today.
