Honoring Pastor Rickey Searcy

We received word that the Mt. Vernon Church in Oklahoma City was giving Bro. Rickey Searcy a retirement celebration and it was going to coincide with the weekend we were already planning to be in Oklahoma. We were excited to be able to attend so I let them know we would be there.

Within hours of our decision to attend, I was asked to speak and be the Master of Ceremonies for the event. How did that happen?😀

Nevertheless, I was honored to be asked to help honor my dear friend.

Bro. Rickey became Pastor of Mt. Vernon in about 1979 and had served as Pastor for all but two of the intervening years. He has completed numerous building projects during those years, began and ran a Christian school for many years and led outreach all over Oklahoma City.

There were several people that were asked to speak a few minutes in honor of Bro. Rickey and Sis. Sharon and it was my job to introduce them and keep things rolling. I did the best I could, but the speakers all did outstanding.

It was a great day.

When it was all over we went to Chelino's with the Searcy's. That was our first time to eat inside a restaurant since Sydney Australia in mid March.

Here are a few pictures of the day.

After Bro. Searcy resigned, the Mt. Vernon Church merged with the Landmark Church and Pastor Jeremy Brooks is now the Pastor. He presented Bro. Rickey Searcy with a beautiful gift.

Thank you for joining us today.
