Introducing Baby Charlie Shoemaker

Hey Friends,

I hope this finds you having a great Saturday. Today we are traveling to Brooks, Kentucky. We are looking forward to a wonderful week with Pastor Phillip Webb at Calvary Holiness Church. I cordially invite you to join us for revival if you are in the area. We love having our friends in service with us. The revival is scheduled for Sunday morning through Friday night.

It has been a wonderful week for me. I was in Ohio and I was able to enjoy my beautiful home for a few days!  I love being in my Beach Cottage. It was so good to see several family members and spend time with them. Oh, and I did get my Alcapulco salsa fix. I will definitely miss it until my next visit home.

Charles Ray Shoemaker

I have been anticipating this blog post for months. Last August I received a FaceTime call from my dear sweet cousin/sister Deidre and her husband Ben. they told me then that their family was expanding in April. I was super elated for this wonderful news!

Later on we were thrilled to learn that it is was going to be a baby boy. Deidre and Ben chose Charles Ray Shoemaker for his name. Our entire family has been planning for the baby and anxiously awaiting the arrival of baby “Charlie”.

Tuesday morning April 2nd Charlie made his earthly debut in Texas. He is a bouncing baby boy man weighing in at 9 pounds 5 ounces and 21.5 inches long.

Charlie is a precious bundle of joy. He has brightened the world with his arrival on the scene. I can not wait to see him in person and love on him! FaceTime calls and pictures allow me to see him for now. Auntie O’s heart melts every time that I see him.

Welcome to the world, Charlie! We love you so very much! Deidre and Ben, congratulations on your beautiful new addition to our big family!

Thank you, Deidre, for sending pictures and allowing me to introduce baby Charlie to everyone. I think he is a pretty special little guy. I had to share his arrival with my friends.

Thank you for visiting with me today. I hope you have a fabulous weekend.

A Week Flying By

It has been a fast week in Ohio. We have enjoyed lots of eating, working, churching and family time. Odie has enjoyed her space and Kelly Jo and I have been so lonely in the bus that we could cry. 😭 Hopefully, we can survive until Odie gets back on the bus tomorrow.

We have had several trips to Acapulco this week and a trip yesterday to a Mexican grocery in Miamisburg to meet our pastors for lunch. That adds up to Mexican every day for lunch and KJ prepared tacos for supper a couple of days. We will definitely be in withdrawal for a week or two.

The rest of the week has been filled in with church and catching things up on the Lazy OD Ranch. It has been a great week.

Monday Bro. Bennie and Sis. Jane Sutherland came to meet us for lunch. It was a real treat to have them.

Dad put Odie's address numbers on the house. I guess she officially lives somewhere now. At least the pizza guy can find her!

Odie baked some sugar-free and wheat flour free cookies. She may make a cook yet!

Odie is furnishing her rooms one piece at a time. There is really no hurry. She could have put a regular bed in the second bedroom, but for the time being, it will be used for other things and only occasionally a guest bedroom. She did not want to waste floor space.

She found a Murphy type bed that stores away in a chest. We ordered it a few weeks ago and scheduled delivery for when we were going to be home. Dad, Kelly Jo, Mom and my sister Theresa put it together one afternoon.

Odie "paid" for the bed assembly with a trip to Chili's. She let me go because I mowed and spread Weed and Feed over her yard.

More Acapulco! Wednesday we met Pastor EJ Lamb and his family at Acapulco for lunch. We love spending time with these precious folks too.

We also heard from our tax lady Wednesday and finished all of that up before the deadline. Ugh! Now we have a month to complete our tax forms for Boggs Family Ministries. Super Ugh!

Wednesday night we went next door to sing and preach at the invitation of Pastor Kelly Rogers. We really enjoyed the service.

Thursday we drove toward Dayton to meet Bro and Sis. Sutherland and Bro. Gary Lee at a Mexican grocery that has a walk-up restaurant inside. We neglected pictures, but I did get one of Kelly Jo about to eat some super hot salsa. It was no challenge for her at all.

And I have one more picture of tacos that Kelly Jo prepared for me.

That pretty much wraps up the week. Today we will finish a few more projects, as the rain allows, eat some more salsa and prepare to leave for Kentucky tomorrow.

Thank you for reading today.

Construction Continues at GoodNews Christian School

Yesterday was a super great day and it ended with a great service at Dodds last night. I appreciate Pastor Kelly Rogers inviting us to sing and preach. As I have said before, it is a happy privilege to be welcomed heartily to sing and preach in the church where I was raised.

GoodNews Christian School
Most of you know that the GoodNews Christian School in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria is very near and dear to our hearts. We pledged support from Boggs Family Ministries to the school when it was only a dream and we have continued that support. We believe in the mission of the school and we are convinced they are changing lives for good in Abeokuta and beyond.

I posted in November when we visited the school again. We enjoyed the day with the students and the staff so much.

I mentioned then that they were trying to add four classrooms to one of the school buildings and that we had been helping them with the expense. We hoped to be able to help them even more.

Here is a picture of the building in November 2018.

This is what it looks like now. Bro. Shobanke sent me these pictures recently.

It is not finished, but I am so thrilled to see the progress. I am anxious to see it completed as soon as possible They need this classroom space right now and each year they need more and more space. It is a wonderful problem to have because that means more parents are willing to invest in sending their children to a school where they will receive an education that is unashamedly Christian.

That is awesome, especially considering that many of the school children come from families with no church affiliation and many come from Muslim families. They want their children to receive a good education even if that means they become Christians in the process.

Can you understand why that makes me excited? We are all about telling people about the joy, peace and contentment that can be found in a relationship with Christ, right? At GoodNews Christian School, families that have no knowledge of Christ at all are enrolling their children in the school and giving Sis. Ruth and Sis. Rebecca and their staff free reign to lead them to the loving embrace of the savior of the world.

That is so cool and I love it. That is worth investing in! If you want to help the school in construction or with operating expenses or with future expansion, there is a way for you to do that. You can contribute through Mission Giving here on our website or send it in the mail and in both instances indicate you are giving toward the school.

100% of what you give will go toward GoodNews Christian School in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. NOT ONE DIME of the money you give will be used in any way by Boggs Family Ministries. We always absorb all administrative costs or any other costs so that every cent you give toward the school goes directly and exclusively toward the school.

Thank you for reading today. May God bless you every one.
