Vintage View Vednesday - Tyler, TX - Isaacs 2009

We made it to the Lazy OD Ranch about 7:30 PM Eastern on Tuesday.

For this Vintage View Wednesday we are going back to January 2009 to an Isaacs Concert. We missed the Isaacs Musication Nation weekend in Franklin, North Carolina recently and Odie is almost in mourning. Maybe this will help her.

I believe this concert was in Tyler, Texas at Green Acres Baptist Church on a Monday night of all times. We had closed revival on Sunday night and were starting another quite a ways from there on Monday or Tuesday but we detoured through Tyler, if I remember correctly.

We arrived in the early afternoon and parked the BoggsMobile out of the way in the back forty of the massive group of parking areas. We were happy to be there for soundcheck, a great visit and for a wonderful concert.

The church was hoping to have a decent turnout on a Monday night, but did not know exactly what to expect. The lower floor ended up being standing room only and the balcony had a good crowd too!

We also were introduced that night to some folks from near Austin, Texas that we sang for at a later date. That was neat. It was a great night and the pictures bring back a lot of memories.

I hope you enjoy this Vintage View Vednesday. I know that Odie will! Thanks for stopping in.

Travel Days - 1200+ Mile Home

We will post pictures from tent revival and of taking down the tent in Colorado Springs later in the week. Right now I need to bring you up to date on our weekend and travel toward home.

Sunday morning when I was writing our weekend update, we had two services on Sunday of tent revival left, a bunch of prep work to be completed for tent take down and transport, plus I wanted to drive a few hours Sunday night.

It did not look very possible, but we determined to stick to the plan and see what happened.

I love it when a plan comes together!

Early Sunday I worked in the trailer some and then two of Bro. Gary Thomas' sons helped me set up the sound equipment about 8:00 AM. So far so good.

We had a great service Sunday morning and then I finished preparing for the last service and taking down the tent. I had the lights down, the sound system cords on the ground, the trailer sorted, the items outside that needed to be outside and the BoggsMobile hooked up to the trailer by 3:30 Sunday afternoon. Perfect!

Here is Kelly Jo moving the bus into position so that we could hook up to the trailer.

After everything was in place the rain clouds descended and the radar did not look good. Rain on the tent that late was not good for my plan, but if we had to stay over until Monday, we would roll with it.

We escaped with a very, very light sprinkle! Hallelujah!

Church began at 6:00 and we had another wonderful service. We said "Amen" about 7:50 and began the process to take everything down. The Souls Harbor Church and even visitors jumped in to load chairs, take down the sound system and then get the tent on the ground and packed up. By 9:00 we were ready to load the car in the trailer and strap it down.

We were saying tearful goodbyes to all of our new friends and pulling out of Souls Harbor Church about 9:30 PM. We wiggled out of town and 75 miles later we were turning on I-70 east.

We drove five hours and 300 nice trouble free miles Sunday night and stopped to sleep at a rest area near Ogallah, Kansas. We rested a few hours at the rest area and left about noon central time on Monday.

We drove about 400 more miles Monday. The first 3 hours of traveling were a pleasure and then we were smacked with the reality of traffic as we approached Topeka and Kansas City. That was slooooow going.

Our only stop for the day was a fuel stop.

Monday night we stopped at a rest area near Boonville, Missouri. That is where I am typing from now.

We have about 515 more miles to go and we should be home by Tuesday night by God's grace.

Thank you for reading today.

Weekend Woudup and Weview July 9, 2018

We have had a wonderful weekend of tent revival in Colorado Springs. Each night the anticipation level has intensified and the services have been tremendous. We are praising God for saving, healing and delivering. Hallelujah!

I want to tell you something that happened to us on the way here from Wichita.

If you have traveled by car from lower elevations to higher elevations then you have experienced things expanding almost to the point of bursting. An unopened bag of chips in Wichita will look like it is about to burst 10 hours later in Denver. A bottle of any liquid will likely spew some out when you open it.

There in lies the story.

When we left Wichita Sunday night after church we were at 1300' above sea level. The drive north on I-135 and then west on I-70 looks flat for the most part. There are no steep climbs and certainly no mountain passes but the road west is steady climbing all the time.

By the time you reach Colby, Kansas you are at 3150'. At the Kansas and Colorado state line you are at 3900' and Colorado Springs is at 6000' elevation. That is quite a change without ever climbing a steep hill.

While driving Monday a few miles east of Colorado Springs we all heard a distinctly "different" sound that lasted only an instant. It was not really a pop and not really a sound of air gushing, but some kind of combination of the two.

We were not sure where it came from or exactly what it was. Kelly Jo got up and looked around inside the bus for something that could explain the sound and found nothing.

As soon as I found a place, I stopped along side the road and we looked everything over outside. All 14 tires were good, the air conditioning covers were in place and the contents of the tent trailer had not shifted. We were stumped.

Monday evening, Kelly Jo found the culprit. She had put this full and unopened  container of bath wash in a small carry-on piece of luggage. The luggage was in the back of the BoggsMoble sitting on a comforter.

When she opened the bag, the container was COMPLETELY empty and the Mango Splash was all over the inside of the bag and was oozing out onto the comforter. Evidently the elevation change put so much pressure on the bottle that all of the contents exploded out the top in one big gush.

Can you imagine the mess we would have had IF the bottle had been sitting some where outside of that bag like the counter top or in a cabinet with 100 other things that would have to be cleaned up.

Kelly Jo said it happened in the very best place.

The moral of the story. Be careful about going higher, you may blow your top!

We have had a wonderful weekend so far. The altar services have been outstanding.

Saturday I spent some time getting things ready to ride. I filled up the fresh water, made sure the grey water was draining and worked to organize the trailer some. Most of the trailer preparation had to wait until we unloaded the sound equipment and set it under the tent Sunday.

I am preparing this post Sunday morning because today is probably going to get busy. We have service this morning and 10:15 and service this evening at 6:00. In between I plan to get the trailer ready for loading the chairs and tent and then move the BoggsMobile into position so that I can hook up to the trailer.

After church tonight, if the tent is dry, we hope to take it all down, pack it all away, strap it all down, load up the Green Machine and then drive a few hours. That does not leave me much time to finish this post, so this might be all. If so, then I will let you know if our grand plans worked out later.

Thank you for stopping in today.

Our View Out The Front Window July 8, 2018

This is our view out the front window this week at Souls Harbor Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

This is my view looking out the side window from my chair. Pardon the window screen.

Here are all the links to our posts from the last week. Please take a moment to check them out.

I hope you have a terrific Sunday! We are planning to have two services under the tent today and then take down the tent and hit the road if the tent is dry. We need to make some tracks toward Ohio.

Thank you for tuning in.

My Prayer For America

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in from Colorado today. The gospel tent is set up here in Colorado Springs. Revival will finish up here tonight and tomorrow. When everything is packed away we will begin the trek home. I would appreciate your prayers for safe and smooth travels.

Did you see my post last Saturday? We had a virtual birthday party for my Mom. I was pleased with the outcome and Mom enjoyed it. Thank you again to everyone who helped me make it a success! You can click here to read it.

Our great nation of America had a birthday this week too! Happy Birthday to the greatest place on Earth. I am proud to be an American! I thank our forefathers for their vision and their sacrifice so that I can live here. Thank you to everyone who works to preserve our freedom and protects us! I have visited almost every state in our union. I am amazed by the beauty in this land I get to call my home sweet home!

I may not agree with everything our country stands for now, but I love my home. I pray for revival across our land and for our country to return to God. I thank God for His blessings on us! I pray that He has mercy on us all! I am reminded of 2 Chronicles 7:14. I am standing on God promise.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

The last few days I have been thinking of the song “God Bless America.” It represents what I feel in my heart right now. It is easy to think of it only as a patriotic song, but it can truly be a prayer.

God bless America

Land that I love

Stand beside her
And guide her
Through the night with the light from above
From the mountains
To the prairies

To the oceans
White with foam
God bless America
My home sweet home

Songwriter: Irving Berlin

God Bless America lyrics © Imagem Music Inc

According to what I read online it was first written by Irving Berlin in 1918. He revised it in 1938 and debuted it on Armistice Day. The author of this song was Jewish and he came to America at the age of 5 from Russia. I did not remember the history of this song. It was interesting to me to read about the composer and the song's history. You can click here to view what I read.

Click here to see a clip of a Gaither video. This is the Homecoming crew singing “God Bless America.” This was recorded at Carnegie Hall shortly after 9/11/2001.

Please join me in praying for our Nation, our Leaders and our Armed Forces! Thank you for stopping by to visit with us today. Have a good weekend!

Tent Revival and a Couple of Projects

Colorado Springs gets two an average of 16.5 inches of rain per year. Who decided we needed most of that the last three days? Wow! The rain came after church on Wednesday but hit before and during service on Thursday.

We put up the sidewalls around the front to protect the equipment and instruments and had a great service. The crowd was less because of the rain, but there was still a super response in the altar service. Thank God we were able to have church.

By the time service was over the rain had mostly stopped. Hopefully rain will hold off for the rest of revival. There is no sense in getting the allotment for the whole year only because I am in town.

Projects

I mentioned a week or two ago that I had a problem with the second hydraulic lift in the tent trailer. As far as I know I had never owned any kind of hydraulic lift, other than a floor jack or bottle jack, but with this trailer I own two.

I have owned this trailer for nearly 6 1/2 years and all I have done is add fluid to one of the lifts and had one weld fixed on one of the support posts. That is not too bad.

The first one operates the tongue jack on the front of the trailer. That is the one I repaired the control on in OKC. I knew the second one was acting up and I had to tackle that while in Wichita.

The second pump operates the big lift in the trailer. In the picture below the lift is up. The white surface that looks like a low ceiling is actually the bottom of the lift. The chairs, the poles, the tent bags, the stakes and a few other things ride up on the lift.

That lift first gave me a little problem when we were in Alabama. It was hesitating at times to go up. I took the cover off the pump motor and found the black wire going from the solenoid to the motor was loose at the solenoid. I tightened it as much as I could but it was almost inaccessible without removing the solenoid.

I tightened it enough to get the lift going and placed the job on my "rainy day" list.

When I raised the lift Saturday in OKC, I could smell that connection getting hot and could see it glow. I took my time and finally got it up and put the chore on my "do it Now" list.

Monday in Wichita I removed the cover and took the solenoid off. The picture below is what it looks like except the big red wire has already been removed. You may be able to tell that the black wire is against the wall and it is hard access.

I was thinking the threaded post on the solenoid was loose and I would have to get a new solenoid. When I took it off the pump motor, I found the post still in working order. I was able to tighten it. Yay!

The end of the black wire was brittle though. It had obviously been loose (ish) a long time. It has probably been bouncing down the road in this trailer for 21 years without any attention.

It was a 6" wire and all I could find locally was 12". I bought it, cleaned everything up real good and put it all back together. This is what it looks like now.

The lift works great! When we arrived in Colorado Springs the other day, the lift went up and down perfectly. I think it is operating better than it has the whole time I have owned it. Terrific.

Yesterday I tackled another project somewhat less successfully. A while back a couple of my speakers were banged up a little bit. I thought I had everything in working order except for the plug on the back of one of them.

I had to order a new one and it came in last week. It had to be soldered and I know nothing about soldering. Pastor Paul Thomas did it for me in a few minutes yesterday and the connections are good.

However, both of the speakers are growling so there is obviously a deeper problem. I took them apart and checked the inside connections and all looks good. I will need to get them to an expert when I get a chance. Some things are out of my league.

We are looking forward to a great weekend of tent revival. Thanks for reading today.
