Batteries And Tents

There are tent pictures below if bus stuff bores you. Believe it or not I have some people tune in everyday to find out what is going on with the bus. You never know what will interest folks.

Another Episode of Bus Induced Psychosis
(Thanks to my brother Steve, I finally have a diagnosis)

If you remember I mentioned that my batteries were getting weak on the bus. Not the house batteries but the chassis or starting batteries. I had a 24 volt charger mounted over the batteries and it would have been easy to nurse these batteries a few more weeks or even months until it was a better time to change them. That is what I planned to do because it is too busy during tent revival to mess with a project that big.

But then my 20 year old charger quit working.

That complicates things. I could have ordered another identical charger and mounted it where the one is above. However that charger is really in the way. I need to get behind it pretty regularly to access some important areas. I had been planning to buy a 24 volt charger that wires in directly but since the batteries need to be removed to do that I was waiting until it was time to replace batteries.

I never dreamed the charger would go bad at the same time. With questionable batteries and no way to charge them I had to do something whether I had time and energy or not.

I waded into it early Tuesday morning. Once I had everything disassembled I took all the batteries to NAPA in London to have them checked. Two of them were bad, one was OK and one was good. I think I mentioned earlier that these batteries were "seconds" and they were given to me. I am thankful to get 2 years and 9 months to the day out of free batteries.

Needless to say the batteries I put in this week were not free. They are new and I "should" get about 5 years out of them.

I cleaned everything up while I had them out.

I replaced a few of the leads and then I had to do quite a bit of finagling to wire the charger. After all that was completed I put in the tray and then the batteries.

I hooked them all up, checked everything about 4 times, had Kelly Jo double check me twice and breathed a sigh of relief when the bus cranked to life.

You can see in the picture below how much room I have with the charger gone.

The new charger is smaller, smarter and is wired directly to the 24 volt charging posts. All I have to do is plug it up and it goes to charging. Theoretically I should be able to turn it on and walk off and leave it to charge and it will not over charge the batteries because it is smart. I do not trust machines that are smarter than me so I will probably keep a close eye on it.

First, I replaced the tent trailer batteries and now the starting batteries in the BoggsMobile. Hopefully I am finished with batteries for a while.

London Tent Revival

Here are a few pictures from Friday night and a very few as the tent came down.

It was too dark for good pictures when we were taking down the tent so we only have a few. I appreciate the folks working so hard. It all went very smooth.

Here are a few picture from Sis. Waveline Carpenters phone as we were taking down the tent and packing things away.

Bristol, Virginia

We enjoyed a quiet Sunday morning in the BoggsMobile. I did not even step outside until I went out to roll in the cords and water hose. Kelly Jo prepared a great lunch and I enjoyed every morsel of it.  I am sorry there are no pictures of the food. I was eating with both hands and forgot.

We arrived in Bristol in time for me to slip in to Grace Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle and hear Bro. Switzer preach. He preached outstanding and fired us up for tent revival.

After church Pastor Horton showed me where the tent is going up. It is just across Hwy 11 not far from the church. We dropped the trailer there and then parked the BoggsMobile at the church around 10:30.

By God's grace the tent will go up beginning at 8:00 this morning and revival will begin Tuesday. Say a prayer for us.

View Out The Front Window August 31, 2014

We had a wonderful week in London, Kentucky. Kelly Jo and I have known Bro. Lester Carpenter and his family since we were teenagers. We consider it a great honor and privilege to put up the Gospel tent at his church and join with them to reach the lost in their community. We have fallen in love with the folks from Liberty Pentecostal Church and we look forward to seeing them again soon.

We took the tent down Friday night after church and I will try to post a few pictures of the process Monday morning. We had a very heavy dew Friday night and normally I would not have been able to take down the tent until it dried Saturday. Since we are putting it right back up tomorrow it was OK to take it down wet.

This was our view out the front window while in London.

And the view from the front door.

After a few very rushed weeks and with the tent going up again Monday morning our goal for Saturday and Sunday was and is to rest as much as possible. We took our time leaving London Saturday morning and then drove a few hours to a top secret and highly secure location.

We plan to stay here until this afternoon and then we will finish the trip to Bristol, Virginia.

This is our view this morning from the front door.

And this is our view our the front window.

As you can see only a few thousand RVs know where we are this morning. Thanks for reading.

Odie Praising God

Hello my dear friends! This Odie writing today. I hope you have had a grand week. Tent revival this week in London, Kentucky was great. God moved every night! We are sad to leave the Liberty Pentecostal Tabernacle. We took the tent down last night after service and packed everything away in the trailer. Our next stop is Bristol, Virginia.

I want to bring everyone up to date on the situation with my vision. God is helping every step of the way. 19 weeks ago today I woke up with blurry vision. I thought it was due to allergies. The next morning I woke up blind in my left eye. I was blind for for 9 days in that left eye. It has been a long journey. Doctor have said it was Optic Nueritis, inflamed Optic nerve.

We were in revival at Faith Church in Salem, Kentucky for Pastor Phillip Sanders on the day I woke up blind in that eye. This pictures of me with Carston Sanders was taken on that Sunday.

Odie with Sarah Jo Sanders on April 15th.

Dad told you last week about my good report from my Opthamologist. In case you missed it my left eye, which was blind 19 weeks ago tomorrow, is now 20/30. I am still rejoicing!! God had been so good to me. I am still believing I could walk out of this in the end. No matter what happens I am praising God for being with me the through it all!

Last week I asked the doctor to fill out paperwork for a handicap placard for the car. The first order from the doctor had a question mark by the expiration date. How true the question mark is. My handicap status could be over before this day is complete. I can not wait for the day of my complete healing!

No I do not understand why this blindness happened. Yet it has built my faith that God can and will do the "hard things."

Jacqueline Coffman and Odie 1 week into the fight. I was still blind at this point.

I have been reflecting this 19 weeks. As I told you before "Be Still and Know that I Am God" has been my theme. When I went for my second MRI the song "Through It All" played in my headphones. Wow what truth of the words in that song.

Through It All
Written  by Andre Crouch

I've had many tears and sorrows
I've had questions for tomorrow
There've been times I didn't know right from wrong
But in every situation
God gave blessed consolation
That my trials only come to make me strong

I've been a lot of places
And I've seen so many faces
But there've been times I've felt so all alone
But in that lonely hour
In that precious, lonely hour
Jesus let me know I was His own

Through it all
Through it all
I've learned to trust in Jesus
I've learned to trust in God
Through it all
Through it all
I've learned to depend upon His Word

So I thank God for the mountains
And I thank Him for the valleys
I thank Him for the storms He's brought me through
Cause if I never had a problem
I wouldn't know that He could solve them
I wouldn't know what faith in His Word could do

Day of second MRI

Another thing that always come to mind when I think of the last 19 weeks is the amazing family of God. You all went to war on my behalf. I can never thank you all enough for the prayers and concern!! I could not have survived without you.

I do have a follow up appointment in December with my Neuro-Opthamologist. My Neurologist wants a third MRI in December to check on things.  So I am still making my way through all the doctor stuff. It is just a miracle that today I can see!!

Again I want to encourage you to believe God can move in your life. He is no respecter of persons. What He has done for me He will do for you.

Have an excellent weekend!

Odie

Odie and Jacqueline Coffman taken nearly 18 weeks into this journey.
