Tent Revival In Pictures - Richton, MS

This has been an incredible Tent Revival in Richton, Mississippi this week. There is no way in the world I can properly describe the way the Lord has reached for people in the services and the blessings received by those that responded. I am loving it.

We have dealt with rain most of the week. We are still dealing with rain. But folks came through the rain and the Lord blessed. I do not want to take chance with storms and such, but we can have church even with steady rain as long as it is not blowing water all under the tent and soaking the people and equipment.

Thursday night the forecast was for a bit of lightning in the storm blowing through about 7:30 to 8:00 PM. As we were contemplating what to do, the deputy sheriff stopped by to make sure Bro. Scott knew about the storm too. Bro. Scott decided to err on the side of the abundance of caution and we canceled the Thursday night service.

This has happened very few times in hundreds of nights of tent revival, so once in a while should be expected. Our average nights with NO rain is incredibly high, but sometimes the weather wins. It is supposed to be much better tonight.

I posted pictures Wednesday of our first tent revival here in 2011 and today we have many pictures from tent revival this year. I hope you enjoy the tent revival in pictures.

One of our many long time friends here in Richton is Bro. Brewer. He is always among the first in the church to welcome us back "home" and he often does it with tears in his eyes. He and his wife have traveled the USA in various RVs including the beautiful motorhome below. It is always a pleasure to listen to an old story or a new adventure.

Bro. Brewer invited Bro. Scott and I over for a home cooked breakfast. Kelly Jo watched the tent while we ran over for a little while Thursday morning. He and Sis. Brewer laid out a spread before us that was amazing!

Yes sir, that is T-bone for breakfast, one of the best I have ever eaten!

Thank you, my dear friend. That was a morning I will never forget!

There are times when I leave the table when I feel like I am so full, I may never eat again. You know what happens, right? Yep, I get hungry in a few hours. That is where Sis. Kim Morris comes in, one of the best cooks in the whole wide world!

"Rain, rain go away!" Did not work much most days this week.

Thank you for taking time to read Mile Markers each day. I appreciate you stopping by.

It's Raining And The Old Man Is Not Snoring

It's Raining, It's Pouring, The Old Man Is Not Snoring.

We are having a tremendous tent revival in Richton, Mississippi this week, but we are dealing with a bunch of rain. We have never had this much rain in Richton, In fact, one man at the feed store said, "Next year when my hay is burning up, get that preacher down here and set up his tent." Yep, it has been raining that much.

Although I do not love it to rain this much during tent revival, it has not kept us from having service each night. It may have hindered the size of the crowd some, but the crowds have been very good in spite of the rain and it has not hindered God from moving one ounce.

Loading and unloading the sound equipment has been a challenge, because there are a lot of soupy areas around the tent. Parking was a little tricky last night, because we do not want to leave big ruts and mess up the grass in the park. These are only small inconveniences compared to what rain could do.

Thankfully it has not rained with heavy wind or lots of thunder and lightning during church. That would probably shut things down in a hurry, but so far that has been good.

Heavy rain keeps me under the tent quite a bit and leaves less time for other things that need to be completed. One of those "other" neglected things is the time it takes to update the Mile Markers. Even though God has miraculously helped us to be able to have service each night, unfortunately He has not written any posts for me.
Therefore, this is all you get today.🤣 ðŸ¤£

Check back tomorrow and we should have oodles of pictures from tent revival.

Vintage View Vednesday - Richton Tent Revival 2011

Our very first revival for Pastor Scott Morris and First Assembly in Richton, Mississippi was in the spring of 2008. It was also the same week that we were moving from our last fifth wheel into the bus. It was a busy week and a week that changed our lives forever for the better.

We fell in love with these folks and they returned our love back to us with interest. They have become some of our very best friends and one of our favorite places to visit.

We had preached three revivals for Bro. Scott and his folks when he asked us to preach a tent revival in their city park. They had set up a tent and had tent revival there the previous year or two and we were glad to join their effort.

That was also the year we began to do several tent revivals each year. I had been praying about it for three or four years and it seemed the time was right.

The finances were not right and I was advised, by men I trust, against devoting so much time and resources toward tent revival. I still felt like it was the right thing to do and by the time we rolled into Richton, we had set our 30x40 white tent up six times that summer.

It was a great year and I knew I had found the will of God for our family for at least the next few years. That was a surprise to me. I expected to have a summer of tent revivals and go on to the next thing. About 1/2 way through the summer, I knew that tent revival would always hold a huge place in my heart.

Bro. Scott and his folks had access to a large tent and they had it set up when we arrived. That almost felt like cheating to me, but I sure enjoyed it!

We had a wonderful revival that year and the rest is history. That revival has been followed by six more tent revivals in Richton under the Blue and White Gospel Tent and we have loved every moment of it.

Today we are taking a stroll through the archives to our first tent revival in Richton during the first full week of October 2011. I hope you enjoy Vintage View Vednesday. Thank you for dropping in.
