Revivals In Pictures-Milry and Thomasville, Alabama

Are you ready for Revivals in Pictures? Not Revival but Revivals plural. What a great week of revivals it has been. Sunday through Tuesday we were at Copeland Assembly for the Choc-Wa Fall Fellowship.

Choc-Wa is a fellowship of about eight churches in Choctaw and Washington counties. They have a summer camp meeting and other fellowship meetings scattered throughout the year.

It was held this year at Copeland Assembly. This is the first time they have had three nights of fall fellowship and we enjoyed being with them. Thank you, dear friends, for having us.

Does he know this bus is insured by GEICO ?

Although we drove about 830 miles to get from our last meetings in Virginia to Richton, Mississippi, we only drove a smidgen over an hour from Richton to Copeland in Alabama on Sunday. Then about two hours over to Thomasville on Wednesday. I could definitely get used to short travel days. Yay!

Wednesday morning we cranked up, attached the Jeep and rolled the wheels to Thomasville.

Bro. Ben Shoemaker came to Thomasville to Pastor early in 2021. Ben is married to our niece Deirdre and they are the proud parents of Charles Ray. Ben invited us to preach a while back and these two nights are all we had on this short jaunt into the south. We had a wonderful time and we look forward to coming back in the future.

Deidre met us when we arrived and opened up the church. As you can see, Charley helped us load in.

Wednesday afternoon we drove up the street to David's Catfish and we enjoyed a wonderful meal. The food was great and the service by Virgie was top notch. We will definitely visit there again soon.

In addition to meeting new friends, we were blessed and totally surprised to see old friends too. Bro. Jerry McDuffie and his wife from the Mobile area drove two hours to be with us Wednesday night. Wow! It was great to see them.

Their niece, Sis. Pam, attends church here and she invited her family members to attend the revival. We have known them all for well over 30 years and it was a thrill to see them.

We were also surprised to see Ryan and to meet his wife. Ryan is Bro. Ronald Hobby's grandson and we have known him all his life.

We really enjoyed both nights of revival in Thomasville. We appreciate Bro. Ben inviting us and his folks embracing us warmly. They were so kind to us. May God bless them for their hospitality.

Thank you for spending a few moments with us. We will hit the road early this morning by God's grace. We have a lot of miles to roll the next several days.

A Battery Swolled Up

Internet connectivity has been a challenge for us on the road. When we lived in Ohio in the late 90s and Kansas from 1999 through 2002, we used Juno dial-up for the Internet. Most of our internet usage then was for email with the very occasional eBay purchase or sale.

With no landline on the road, dial-up was out of the question. Keep in mind that iPhones that ushered in the smartphone era were still four+ years away. That left us with local libraries for any internet needs.

For the most part, we checked email every few weeks at a library or in someone's house or church computer and that was it.

At some point, we purchased an AT&T device that plugged into a port on our laptop that was about two inches wide. It worked sporadically, but we were occasionally able to check email and add pictures to our original website.

Those wide ports, the name escapes me, disappeared on the next generation of computers. That card became obsolete fast.

In 2013 we purchased a hotspot device that used Verizon towers but it was through a third party company. It was expensive for limited data, but it was cheaper than a Verizon plan. After a year or so, the third party company was eliminated and it became a Verizon plan and went steadily downhill from there. Ugh!

For a limited time in 2017, AT&T offered an unlimited internet plan with the purchase of a certain hotspot. We bought the hotspot and we have been enjoying unlimited usage as long as we have an AT&T signal and it is extremely cost effective. I tried later to buy one to leave at the barn, but the offer was over.

That device has been a workhorse. Four years in the digital world is a long lifetime. Last week the battery swolled up so big that it popped the cover off. I ordered a battery from Amazon and we received it Monday. We are back in business.

Do you understand the term "swolled up"? Imagine the battery on the left in the picture is a big belly and now you have it, swolled up.😍

Thank you for tuning into Mile Markers today. Tomorrow we should have Revival in Pictures.

As Thy Days So Shall Thy Strength Be

I mentioned last week, that I had not done very well with our schedule on this stretch. We are trying to ease into our normal road life, but during this space of time, I packed meetings in pretty tight.

We are busier in this three-week stretch than we need to be. I have done better the rest of the year, but we have to get through this first.

We have now made it about halfway through the over-scheduled patch and I am holding up OK. I was way more tired than I should have been Monday, but no more tired than I expected. I rested as much as I could during the day and pulled through by God's grace.

Honestly, it could be a bit discouraging not to be as strong as I have been and as strong as I need to be, but I can see the hand of God all along the way. He promised in His Word

...As thy days so shall thy strength be... Deuteronomy 33:25

God is true to His Word, friends. Hallelujah!

I do not have as much strength as I would like, but I have enough for each day. I believe that God will continue to provide the strength that I need as I need it.

Thank you all for praying. Please keep it up. God sees, God knows, God hears and God answers!
