Vintage View Vednesday Bristow, Virginia August 2009

It is great to be in Bristow, Virginia this week with Pastor Ken Taylor and his folks. We are having wonderful services each night and I am enjoying preaching to the saints. They have a long history of great revivals here and great men preaching in this church.

It is our happy privilege to be here in revival. Great preachers must be harder for Pastor Taylor to find now.

We are going back nine years in the archives to one of our first revivals at Bristow Assembly. We had our niece Deidre with us that year and Benji and Laura Burris were visiting from California. Sis. Laura is Bro. and Sis. Taylor's daughter.

Benji and Laura took us into Washington D.C. one night after church. There are a few pictures from that adventure at the bottom of the post. We had so much fun that night.

We had a wonderful week and these pictures sure bring back a lot of memories. Also the interior of the sanctuary has been remodeled since then. The change is tremendous. I had forgotten what it looked like.

I hope you enjoy this Vintage View Vednesday. Thank you for stopping in.

God Answers Prayer!

Last week I mentioned a prayer request. I asked you to join with us in praying for Pastor John Eaton a board member for our ministry. He was in a car accident a few weeks ago and was struggling to recover.

Thank you very much for praying for Bro. John. Many of you let me know you were praying. He has improved amazingly well since then. I know that God intervened in a mighty way and we praise God for it. He is doing so much better.

There are other times when I do not see any direct result of my sincere prayer. Why is that?

Does that ever happen to you? If you pray, then I am sure that has happened to you more than you care to remember.

Do you ever wonder why God does not move when we ask him? I have spent a lot of time wondering where my prayer went and why the answer seemed delayed or the petition seemed denied.

We have been given permission to ask God the Father for whatever we need in the name and the authority of Jesus Christ, God the son. We ask in faith believing as Jesus told us to ask. Why is there no obvious answer.

We must remember that God is God and we are not God. We pray in faith as we are commanded and what God does from there is His business and not ours.

God sees the big picture that we can not see.

I remember the story that Corrie Ten Boom told about one particular happening in the German concentration camp during WWII. They were plagued by lice in the barracks. They wanted them gone and begin to complain. I can certainly understand complaints about lice.
They were reminded from scripture that God said to be thankful in everything. What? Thankful for lice? They prayed for deliverance from lice, but thanked God for them anyway.

They noticed the German guards were not coming into the barracks and bothering them near as much as they had before. They had much more freedom to pray, worship, read their smuggled Bible and study God's Word. God's work and power began to spread in the barracks because of this new liberty.

They learned the guards were staying away from the inside of the barracks because of the lice. The curse of the lice proved to be a blessing.

We have had situations that worked out in similar fashion although not near as serious as life in a concentration camp. We have prayed and received no answer. We have wondered why we found no answer. Then one day we got a glimpse of things from God's perspective.

We could suddenly understand, at least partially, that our unanswered prayers were actually blessings that we had no idea we needed. God knows what He is doing!

I want to encourage you to keep praying. Keep believing. Keep trusting God. There will be times that the answer will be obvious and the healing will come as it did for Bro. John Eaton the other day.

At other times the answer may not be so obvious. But God is listening and God is working His plan. You can trust Him.

Thank you for dropping by today.

Weekend Woundup and Weview 5/7/2018

The only difference between the beginning of our weekend and the end of our weekend is one letter. Friday began in BristoL, Virginia and Sunday night ended in BristoW, Virginia. Between the L and the W we found about 400 miles and a bunch of fun with friends and family.

The last night of revival in Bristol was youth rally at Grace Tabernacle. It was great to have visitors from other churches. The youth leader and some of the youth group came all the way from Charlotte, North Carolina. We love Pastor Joseph Chambers and it was wonderful to see some of his folks.

Bro. Chamber's associate Pastor, Joe Ganze and his family were there too.

It was a special treat to have some of our family in service Friday night. Polly Kramer and her son James drove nearly an hour to be with us and we enjoyed their visit so very much. Polly was married to my first cousin, Mike Kramer, for 36 years. Mike passed away suddenly nearly two years ago and it was a great blessing to get to be in service with Polly and James.

Thank you, Polly and James for coming. We enjoyed it so much.

May God bless the people of Grace Tabernacle for all of their kindness to us last week and throughout the years.

We had intended to leave Friday night after church, but we enjoyed visiting way too late. We decided to rest a while before cranking the bus. To get the BoggsMobile out of the parking lot of Grace Tabernacle, I back the bus out, pull off the hill and then hook up the Green Machine. All of that was completed and by 5:35 AM we were on the road.

We stopped about 60 miles from our destination at Love's to add a little fuel. We did not need to fill up yet, but I may need to run the generator some next week so I like a full tank of diesel for that.

We pulled into Bristow Assembly in Bristow, Virginia about 11:30 AM. Pastor Ken Taylor arrived shortly after we were parked and helped me get wired into the electricity.

Saturday afternoon and evening we enjoyed a restful evening with family.

Sunday morning we began revival with Pastor Ken Taylor at Bristow Assembly. It was a wonderful day with two good revival services and two good visits to Tony's NY Pizza. By God's grace we are going to have more good revival services this week AND more visits to Tony's!

Sis. Taylor and Pastor Taylor

That wraps up our weekend. Thank you for stopping in today.

Encouragement From The Archives

Hey Friends,

How are you doing on this fine Saturday? This is Odie checking in from the beautiful state of Virginia. The beauty of this state amazes me every time we visit. Today the BoggsMobile will change locations and cities, but not states. We will travel from Bristol to Bristow Virginia.

Encouragement From The Archives
We have been posting here almost 10 years. We have archived a lot of memories. We can look back at Mile Markers like a journal or old photo album.

Time has a way of changing all of us. It happens so fast. Although important experiences quickly become distant past, I love to be reminded of the things, people and events that formed me and brought me to this place in life.

I am enjoying the series Dad is posting on Wednesdays, Vintage View Vednesday. It is fun to look back and see pictures from the past. If you have missed these posts I encourage to go back through the Wednesday posts.

The other day I was searching Google looking for something on Mile Markers. I came across an old post from a couple of years ago. It made my day and encouraged me again. I want to re-post some of it today. Maybe it will encourage you too.

God used a little Mississippi girl named Calley to strengthen my faith. Her faith still encourages me! Seeing this again gave me the boost I needed for another day. May God bless my precious little friend!

I love getting notes from my young friends. Sometimes I get them before or after church. A lot the times their notes reflect their childlike faith. I want to keep the faith of a child.

Thursday we received our mail from home. I received the sweetest note from Calley Taylor of Laurel, Mississippi. It made my day! She drew a picture of me and the caption read, "You are gitting Hilled!"

Calley, I treasure your faith and encouragement! Thank you for sharing your masterpiece with me. I believe I will be healed and God used you to encourage me in my faith.

I want to encourage everyone reading to keep believing God. Our God turns impossibilities into possible realities, in His time. Also, take a little time to be an encourager. A card, call, text, a kind word or deed can brighten someone's day unexpectedly. It feels good to help somebody see a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.

Have a God blessed weekend. I hope you find extra, unexpected encouragement today. I am purposing to be extra, unexpected encouragement to someone today. Thank you for reading!
