Our Weekend In The Rearview Mirror 6/17/19

Friday morning we finished the drive to Colorado Springs and arrived safely at Souls Harbor Church. It took a little while to unload the car, position the tent trailer in the right place and park the BoggsMobile, but we were sitting down to eat a bite about 2:00 PM. Bro. Gary Thomas was not home until later so we ran the generator until he was home and we could wire into his panel for electricity.

Friday evening Kelly Jo and I measured and marked the stake line for the tent so everything would be in order for set up Saturday morning. I pulled things out of the trailer Saturday and a few minutes before 10:00 the men from the church began to arrive and we went to work.

I will have all the pictures from the set up later, but here it is.

Before

And After

We kicked around the tent all day Saturday and enjoyed a great day anticipated all that God is going to do under the tent this week.

Kelly Jo and Odie had Father's Day cards prepared for me and Odie bought me a nice vest and 10 custom wood picks. Odie's car was huge!

Sunday morning was absolutely beautiful! We had a good crowd and a wonderful service.

It was beautiful after church for a while and then a storm blew in, bring coooooler temperatures with it. Wow!

The rains came tumbling down here, but about 20 minutes west of here is was hail so thick it looked like snow and had to be shoveled. It was wild weather.

This is five miles from the hail, flooding at Walmart!

Thankfully the worst of it passed before church and the people showed up for church. Praise God for a wonderful service and a terrific response in the altar.

The service Sunday night was a tremendous wrap up to a great weekend. We are praising God for His help and looking forward to what he is going to do all week long. We will be having service each night at 7:00 AND we will be having service during the day Thursday and Friday. It is going to be fun.

Thank you for joining us today.

Happy Father’s Day 2019

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in from Colorado. It is time to put the tent up today in Colorado Springs. We are excited to be with Pastor Thomas and all of these folks! Last year we had a wonderful time under the Gospel Tent with the congregation of Souls Harbor. I am looking forward to a fantastic week of revival beginning tomorrow morning!

Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s reading this post. Many of you have greatly influenced my life. I am thankful for the wonderful men that have helped guide me! I am incredibly blessed by your friendship to me and my family!

My Father

My Daddy is the world’s best Dad! He has taught me to live my life for God. I am eternally grateful for his guidance. He has been a fabulous life teacher! I shamefully admit that I have failed to be a stellar student. Dad has never given up on me and I am so thankful!

Daddy,
I love you more than a hog loves slop! Thank you for teaching me how to love. You have shown me by example from the moment I entered this world. I appreciate your wonderful example!

You have selflessly and sacrificially seen that my needs were well supplied. Your amazing efforts to make sure I could have or do fun things have not gone unnoticed. I can not adequately say thank you for all that you have done for me or given to me. Please know that I am saying thank you with my deepest sincerity! I am proud to call you my Dad!

Papaw Eugene Boggs

My Dad was blessed with an excellent Dad too!  Now I have a super awesome Papaw! I definitely would not be the person that I am today without his love and influence.

Papaw, I love you so much! Thank you for teaching me determination and so many other things in life. Always remember this, I have loved you longer than all your other grandchildren.

Papaw Danny Morgan

I am doubly blessed in the Papaw department. My Mom has a prince of a Dad. He is a gentle person! My Papaw Danny is one of the sweetest people to ever walk on this earth!

Papaw, I love you so much, Kid. I love to have a good time with you! You have a special way of brightening a room with your presence. Thank you for making life fun! You have impacted me in so many ways and I am grateful for you! I am blessed to call you my Papaw. I gladly share you with the other grandchildren, but they must remember I was first.😀

God the Father
When I was a girl I knew that my “Super Daddy” could fix or do anything! I cannot remember the exact time that I figured out that was not exactly the case. Well, then I started taking things to my Papaws because they can do it all, or so I thought. I found something that my Papaws were not able to fix for me. My theory is if Papaw cannot fix something then it is officially broken beyond repair!

I have had life experiences that my Dad or my Papaws could correct for me. They pointed me to my Heavenly Father and He truly can do everything! I am thankful for my Father in Heaven. He is the reason that we are all here today. He is a supernatural Father. I am privileged to be His child!

If you are reading and you need some special love I want to remind you that you are loved by God the Father. You can talk to Him anywhere and anytime. He is waiting to wrap you in His loving arms! I want to tell you that you are definitely not alone!

Thanks for stopping by and visiting with me today. I hope that you have a great weekend.

Anther Week Slipped By

Monday morning I followed Pastor DiZazzo to Yost Automotive in Wichita to drop off the Green Machine. I told them what it had been doing and I told them I wanted them to go over and see if they could find the problem and at least change the thermostat and flush the coolant system and add new Toyota Long Life Coolant.

They called later in the morning and said their testing pointed toward the water pump. In my experience water pumps have always started leaking when they went bad, but he said that was not always the case. I authorized them to change the water pump and thermostat and coolant.

Bro. DiZazzo had brought one of their cars for us to use while our car was down and it was a huge benefit to us. About 4:00 Kelly Jo took me down in the loaner car to pick up the Green Machine. It was about time to get ready for church so I ran our car up the interstate hard and heavy about 15 miles and then back. All seemed well.

Tuesday I ran it for about one hour and forty minutes in a combination of interstate and in town driving and it manifested no problems at all. I guess Yost Automotive got it right! Our thanks to them and to Pastor DiZazzo and the Bethany Revival Center for helping us navigate our way through the car problem.

One day, I am not sure which day, KJ brought tacos from the taco truck down the street! Wow! Delicious!

Tuesday night Pastor Jimmy Millikin and his family along with Sis. Rachael McCutcheon visited revival. They were a tremendous blessing as they always are and it was wonderful to have them.

Wednesday was the last day of revival and it was a busy day. I preached at the Sedgwick County Jail for the second time this visit and had great service. I appreciate Bro. Charles Mitchell for always arranging for me to be able to preach in the jail. It is a wonderful privilege and I look forward to it each year.

While I was "in Jail" Kelly Jo and Odie went to the laundromat. We all met up afterward with Bro. and Sis. Mitchell and Bro. DiZazzo for a great Mexican meal.

After lunch and a little rest, we had work to do. We disconnected all the utilities, cranked the bus, hooked it up to the trailer, pulled forward, inserted the Green Machine, strapped it down and backed it all into position.

After a great final service Wednesday night several of the folks helped us get the sound equipment packed up and loaded. It was not too late and we could have left then, but we were spent. It turns out, we all had a difficult night and I let Kelly try to rest a bit Thursday before we pulled out a little after 8:00 AM.

Before we left, I hoisted KJ through the escape hatch to make sure the AC covers were all secure. The wind on I-70 west in Kansas is fierce and we have lost covers there before. Soon we were ready.

We eased out of the church parking lot and rolled all of .3 of a mile before getting stopped on 21st and Broadway by a train. It was a long train and while it was passing, a second train going much slower also started going through the same direction.

While waiting, I wrote another verse to the old song, "This Train is Bound For Glory."

This train is bound for glory, this train.
This train is bound for glory, this train.
This train is bound for glory,
It may get there But it's going there slowly.
This train is bound for glory, this train.

After about 15 minutes I turned left on Broadway to hit I-235 over to I-135 north. Great idea, but no go. There was construction on I-235 and the on-ramp was closed. I ended up going 32 blocks north to 53rd and taking it over to I-135. Whew!

I stopped a few miles up the road for a planned detour at a rest area. It was time to do the work of the evangelist

Once that was taken care of, I glanced at the GPS while pulling out of the rest area. With the train and the stop, we had gone 15.5 miles in our first 49 minutes. Oh My! I hoped that was not an indication of how the whole day would go.

Fortunately, all went smooth for 90 miles north to Salina. In fact, I was being pushed along by a strong wind from the south. I did not rejoice in the wind though. I knew it would be a bear when it blew broadside against my rolling wind catching wall when we turned west.

Oh yes, that strong south wind was a thorn in my side for the next 340 miles. Plus, we probably had one lane traffic 10 times and one of those times had to be 40 miles. Between that and the wind, I was tight as a banjo string 429 miles later when we pulled into the Flying J at Limon, Colorado.

We are less than 75 miles from our destination at Souls Harbor Church in Colorado Springs, but I had driven enough. We rested better last night and we will finish the drive today by God's grace.

Once we arrive in Colorado Springs, we will get the tent trailer in position, park the bus, get the utilities wired in and then Kelly Jo and I will measure for the stake line. Hopefully, we will have everything ready to go when help arrives on Saturday morning.

We are excited to see the tent up in the air again!

Thank you for reading today.
