Weekend Woundup and Weview #39

Our original intention was to drive to the south side of Nashville Thursday night but as I explained earlier we decided to spend the night at Prevost on the north side of town. I dreaded the traffic during the daytime but I figured I would take the chance.

Early Friday morning the fog was so thick that we could not easily see across the parking lot. As you can see below, the fog had burned off by 9:00 and it was a beautiful day.

I pulled around and emptied the holding tanks before leaving. This entertainer bus and matching trailer below were parked in one of the leased spots. I love that green! That is a newer XLII and I love the lines and rivets on the older XL buses like the BoggsMobile but I am infatuated with the green.

Traffic was heavy going through Nashville but we made it fine. We had a good travel day and by afternoon we were in Meridian, Mississippi. We rested a while and considered spending the night but decided to go on to Richton. Darkness fell while we were driving but it was a good drive too.

Excuse the bugs on the windshield in the picture below, but I wanted you to see the mountains up ahead on the road.

There are no mountains like that in Mississippi. Those are only clouds but it sure looked like we had been translated to Virginia, Wyoming or Montana.

We pulled into First Assembly Friday night and did not even unhook. We visited a few minutes with Bro. Scott and his family and went to bed. Saturday morning we unloaded the sound equipment, unhooked the trailer, backed the BoggsMobile into position and then gave everything a good washing.

It has been a long time since the trailer was this clean. I appreciate Bro. Scott helping us clean the trailer and BoggsMobile.

Then we drove to Hattiesburg and met Bro. Kenny and Sis. Joan Morris for lunch at our favorite place in Hattiesburg, Front Porch! We had a wonderful meal and even better fellowship with all of our friends.

Look what Sis. Joan found in her car!

Saturday evening Bro. Scott helped us set up our sound and we had a good time singing, playing and acting like I am playing.

Sunday was the beginning of revival and we had great crowds and great services.

I do not know what is wrong with all of the pictures inside the church. Odie took these and the lights are wreaking havoc. I will try to do make some changes tomorrow and see if we can make it better.

It is very good to be back in Richton in revival with our dear friends. God was moving last night and we are expecting great things all week long. It is good to be back in the saddle again.

Thank you for reading today.

What A Day That Will Be

Hey Friends,

This is Odie coming to you from the road. We are thrilled to be in Mississippi. I am ready to see all of our adopted family and wonderful friends. Revival begins tomorrow at First Assembly in Richton. We are anticipating a fabulous week here with Pastor Scott Morris. Please come join us in revival if you are in the area.

Yes, I am super excited to be with our dear friends in Richton for the week. We know that in the snap of finger our allotted time to visit will be over and it will be time to hit the road.

Someday my time on earth will be done and I will go to Heaven. I have been thinking a lot about Heaven this week. I am looking forward to going to this amazing place one day.

I read in the Bible of all the incredible things Heaven has in store for Christians. There will be no sin, no more sickness, no more pain and no death. I will be able to walk on my own on streets of gold next to the crystal river and there will be no more goodbyes.

Most of all I will get to see my Savior face to face and thank Him for all He has done for me! I have planned nearly my entire life to reach this perfect place. It will be way above and beyond any of my human expectations. I definitely long to go there!

Sometimes we are blessed to be in church services that seem to be a sip or taste of what Heaven will be like. One of those special times happened several years ago in Charlotte, North Carolina and it made a lasting impression on me.

We were in revival at Paw Creek Ministries, the pastor's wife Sis. Juanita Chambers sang the old song "What A Day That Will Be". The precious Spirit of God moved that night and I can not remember if the service got any farther than that song.

I do remember sitting on the platform of that church and it being a time when I felt an extra connection to Heaven. The lyrics of "What A Day That Will Be" resonated in my soul. They have been special to me every since then.

Sis. Jaunita Chambers reached Heaven on Sunday. She will be missed greatly by Bro. Chambers, their family and church family! Please keep them in your prayers! I count it a honor to have known her and called her my friend. I look forward to seeing Sis. Chambers again when I reach Heaven.  I know she is no longer singing about "What A Day That Will Be" she is experiencing it first hand.

Here is a picture from the archives. My friends text it to me this week. I think it is from January 2006. Pictured here is Sis. Chambers and myself, along with her granddaughters Tiffany and Cami.

Thank you for taking time to visit here today."What A Day That Will Be" was penned by southern gospel legend Jim Hill. I think it is a wonderful song with a great message. Click here to see a video from September 2013. The Isaacs are singing this song with special guest Cameron Isaacs. This is not my video but you can see my side of this concert by clicking here

Below I have included the song lyrics. Take a moment to read them and ponder the message.

What a Day That Will Be

There is coming a day,
When no heart aches shall come,
No more clouds in the sky,
No more tears to dim the eye,
All is peace forever more,
On that happy golden shore,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

There’ll be no sorrow there,
No more burdens to bear,
No more sickness, no pain,
No more parting over there;
And forever I will be,
With the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

Thursday Travel

My mind was awake and "driving" a few minutes after 4:00 Thursday morning but it took a few hours for reality to catch up. I opened the barn doors and started preparing at first light.

There is a certain routine that I follow when I hook up and make ready to leave but there are a few extra steps when we are pulling the tent trailer.

I am very, very thankful for the tent trailer. It has been a tremendous blessing since Bro. Jimmy Millikin prayed it down on us and we could not have carried all of the things necessary for tent revival the last 5 1/2 years without it. The trailer is well suited for our needs.

I am absolutely overwhelmed with gratitude for the tent trailer, but I genuinely dread pulling it. I have pulled it thousands and thousands of miles but I never look forward to the experience. I do get comfortable with it after a few hours, I did Thursday, but I never anticipate pulling the tent trailer with joy in mind.

Nearly every week I can not wait to climb in the bus and roll some miles. I love it. The bus is a joy to drive. The trailer changes all of that.

That is another big reason that I am so thankful for Bro. Jimmie Radcliffe and all of the weight of responsibility he carried last year during City Reach. Not the least of those responsibilities was dragging his trailer across the country with the tent, chairs, tools and on and on and on. Bro. Jimmie already knows this, but he was drastically underpaid last year!

I cranked the BoggsMobile about 7:25 and had the trailer hooked up and we rolled at 8:25. Before we rolled though, we had hugs all around and prayer with my parents.

May God bless them for all they do. We love you Dad and Mom!

I was planning to stop a few miles down the road and check all of the trailer tires and wheels. It had been a while since it had rolled so I wanted to be cautious. Plus I wanted to take my time getting to Cincinnati to give it a chance for the traffic to clear.

Well, who needs Cincinnati for slow traffic? We were down to one lane and creeping along about 6 miles from home!

The slow traffic and the stop I mentioned above should have made Cincinnati a breeze. By the time we were approaching the bypass it was at least 9:15. Google Maps said I-71 was about 20 minutes slow and I-75 was 48 minutes slower than that. No thank you.

I-275 around Cincinnati is a long bypass either way but the east side is considerably shorter. It was showing green all the way around.

Hey, Davy, how is all that glorious traffic green on Google Map working out for you?

Well, at the one hour mark, we had driven 34.7 miles.

It was slow going with traffic, construction, accidents and rain most of the way to Louisville. We can be in Elizabethtown, Kentucky in 2 1/2 hours in the car. We were a few minutes shy of 4 hours yesterday in the bus.

We like the salad bar at Ruby Tuesday's in Elizabethtown and we had dear friends close by in Hodgenville. That is all I needed for an excuse to stop, especially since the traffic had fried my nerves.

We wiggled into a dead end road, jumped in the car and met Bro. and Sis. Webb for a relaxing visit with a good salad thrown in with it. I am not much for stopping when we are traveling but that was a good stop.

The drive on down to Prevost Nashville was smooth and uneventful, just like we like it. We quickly ran out of the rain and ran out of the cooler temperatures too. It was about 85 when we arrived but had cooled off by the time I took these pictures.

I have never seen it so crowded here. There are buses every where. I parked along the edge rather than in a spot because there was no parking spot to be had that I could fit into.

I had to buy a few things for the BoggsMobile and I made it before the parts counter closed. Then we relaxed for the evening with a nap thrown in for good measure.

We had planned to drive through Nashville last night after the traffic cleared and probably should have. We decided to stay in place and thread our way through later this morning. I will let you know how it goes.

Thank you for dropping in today.

It Is Time To Continue the Circle

Most of Wednesday Kelly Jo worked on getting the bus ready to ride and I worked on the tent trailer, barn stuff and getting the right sound equipment loaded and arranged in the bays. I also loaded a few more needful items in the tent trailer.

We did spend a couple of hours in the afternoon hanging the freshly painted doors in the house and picking up the tools we had dragged out Tuesday and Wednesday.

Dad came to help and Steve dropped by after work too. By the time we finished, the seven pocket doors were in place and the coat closet and bedroom closet doors were hung again too.

These three have worked very diligently on this house! Odie will never be our of ice cream debt.

It Is Time To Continue the Circle

The nation wide circle that we began last Wednesday when we started our journey to northern, Vermont continues today by God's grace. We had intended to swing by and pick up the tent trailer and be gone in hours. Most of you know that Irma changed those plans.

Bro. Scott Morris and I made the decision Saturday to cancel the tent revival and have revival in the church instead. That gave us some time to let the rain from the remnants of the hurricane pass and dissipate. Now we are ready to move.

Even though Richton tent revival is canceled this year, we will pull the trailer on this trip anyway. We need the tent trailer in the south next spring and we had planned to leave it down there after the Richton revival.

There were three other options for taking the trailer, but neither were good.

We could have left it at the ranch now and pulled it all over the south next year until we arrived some where close to our first tent revival and then dropped it. Nope.

We could have left it at the ranch now, missed a few nights of revival in January and pulled the tent trailer where we would need it eventually and added 400 miles of driving. Nope.

We could have left it at the ranch now, closed a revival a few days early in April, drove the BoggsMobile to Ohio to pick up the trailer and added about 1400 miles of driving. NOPE.

That is why we are pulling the tent trailer to Mississippi even though we are not having tent revival next week. It will require KJ to drive the Green Machine behind us, making this a little more complicated trip.

As I sit here early this morning, I wish the tent trailer was already hooked up so I could leave and miss the mess that is Cincinnati traffic. I may have to wait until 8:30 or 9:00 to leave.

We hope to drive as far as Nashville today, take care of some business there and maybe drive a little farther. Please pray for safety on the road and no problems with equipment.

Thank you.
