Up On The Rooftop

A Prayer Request

We have dear friends in three different places this week that are grieving because of the death of a loved one. There are people hurting all over but that is no comfort when the hurt comes home. Our hearts are saddened for our friends

Please pray today specifically for our friends at Hodgenville Pentecostal church in Hodgenville, Kentucky, Tanner Williams Church and Foster Grove Church both near Mobile, Alabama and the church at Cain Ave. in New Miami, Ohio. Thank you.

This is also a special day for our family. Happy Anniversary today, Kelly Jo! Sorry about your luck but it looks like you are stuck! I love you, baby!

The Roof

We are so excited to see progress Up On The Rooftop! The Boggs and Fellers families arrived Wednesday morning and the metal arrived about 30 minutes later. The set into working right away even though they had driven nearly all night to get here!

They made incredible progress and here are several pictures to prove it! Odie is grinning from ear to ear and so are we!

Bro. Jimmy Millikin is preaching the day services of youth camp this week in Germantown and they graced us with a visit. We were so glad to see them.

They will be starting work again in a few minutes so it is time to get outside and try to be of assistance! Thank you for reading today.

House Update 6/28/2017

When I posted two blogs on Monday, I had no plans to miss blogging Tuesday. I guess I could say, "That is how the cookie crumbles" but since I have had no cookies to speak of in a few years, I am not even sure it is legal for me to say that.

Monday's blogs are HERE and HERE.

Tuesday was a long and productive work day on the house. After doing some measuring inside the house, I went to Waynesville Lumber to check on some plywood and to ask some questions. I forgot two of the most important questions but I knew I would be back there later in the day.

The plumber passed his 2nd rough in inspection about 10:00 and we  are thrilled with that. Once he was gone, I went to get Dad's truck. I went to two different Home Depot stores in order to buy 38 sheets of 1/2" B/C plywood. They call it 15/32" plywood now, but what is 1/32 of an inch among friends?

I brought it back to the house and Kelly Jo help me put it inside.

She then helped me load some extra material in the truck that had to go back to Waynesville Lumber. I remembered to ask one of my questions but I forgot the second one again!

About 4:00 Steve and I began ripping all 38 sheets of plywood. We made four rips on each sheet for five pieces per sheet.

We set the scaffolding walk board to the right height to catch the plywood for each rip. Between that and Steve's help, the job went pretty smooth.

My phone battery died and was on the charger while we were working so I failed to get any pictures of Steve until we were finished. Gary Coffman pulled up with a tractor so I captured a picture of Steve next to it.

I had about an hour of daylight left so I gave the yard a quick mowing. During the last bit of mowing it was pretty dark so it will be interesting to see how the grass looks in the light of day.

Today I have to do some routing on every board we ripped. Any ideas what we need 190 boards for?

The metal for the roof is supposed to be delivered by noon today, but it gets better than that. Bro. Mitch Boggs Jr. and Bro. Jason Fellers and their families are supposed to arrive later today as well!

We are anxious to see them all. WE love these dear friends and we are excited to see them. They will be putting the roof on the house and that is very exciting too!

When are you coming to see us?

Thanks for reading today.

A Meteor (?) in Kentucky 6/26/2017

I posted our Weekend Woundup and Weview early this morning after we arrived at the Lazy OD Ranch from Bristol, Virginia. It gives details of our wonderful weekend and includes lots of great pictures. You can click on the highlighted link at the beginning of this paragraph to read it.

For those of you that receive this post in your email Monday night, you will have to click on the link above or HERE to see the earlier post. It will not show up in your email because this is the latest post.

I had something I wanted to include in that post but I could not locate the file quickly and I was much too tired to let it slow me down. This morning Kelly Jo and I emptied the holding tank on the bus and backed the bus into the barn. When that was finished I found the file.

It is a video clip from our dash cam while on the way home overnight. The clip says it was about 11:00 PM Sunday night but I think the dash cam must be set on Mountain time because it was actually about 1:00 AM this morning.

We were driving north on I-75 and had crossed Jellico mountain a few minutes before and entered into Kentucky. Just as a semi truck passed us a large fireball/meteor passed overhead. It was white, blue, green and yellow and burning bright. I though at first that it might be a plain about to crash.

I have posted the clip below. Look straight above the truck about 12 seconds into the video. Sometimes when I post a video here, you can not view it with an Apple device. It must be the whole Google vs Apple thing. If you can not see it, you may have to view it on a PC

I record on low quality on the dash cam to preserve space on the memory card for more video at but times like this I wish I had been recording on the highest quality!

That definitely woke me up and kept me awake for a while!

Here are three pictures
