Bro. Ray Driscoll

Our Dear Friend Bro. Ray Driscoll

I have known Bro. Ray and Sis. Beulah Driscoll all of my life. For many years they attended the church I was raised in and some of my earliest memories include Bro. Ray, Sis. Beulah and their family. They have been Godly examples to me and countless others. They were always kind, gentle and good. They set a great example of faithfulness, loyalty and prayer and loved going to the house of God. They also personally encouraged Kelly Jo and I at crucial times in our life experiences and we will never forget it.

Bro. Ray has always been playful and in the picture above taken at Dryden Rd. Campmeeting in 2007 you can see his mischievous smile. He loved to pick on Kelly Jo. He would call her "trouble" when she told him often she was going to sit on the front row with him. That is probably the conversation that preceded the picture above and the cause of the smile. He lived fully, loved well and laughed often.

Bro. Ray has struggled with his health for several years but he and Sis. Beulah kept right on going to church, revivals and campmeetings. Bro. Ray insisted on going to church the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving at Dryden Road. The following day Bro. Ray loss the use of his legs and was confined to bed. I know he was glad he went to church on his last opportunity. Friday morning December 16th about 7:00 in the morning Bro. Ray left Sis. Beulah and made his way HOME.

Bro. Ray and Sis. Beulah have a beautiful family. Please pray for them today, tomorrow during the funeral, over the holidays and then beyond. They certainly need the comfort and help of God right now.

Bro. Ray loved to worship the Lord, dance in the Spirit, leap for joy, read from the Psalms and pray with others in the altar. He absolutely loved church service and being in the presence of the Lord. There is no doubt that Bro. Ray is happy and joyful in the God's presence now.

We loved Bro. Ray dearly and we miss him already.

Schedule - Ready to Roll Out!

Well, Christmas is a week away but Christmas vacation is over. We went to our home church this morning and preached in Hillsboro, Ohio tonight.

We have a funeral visitation tomorrow evening and then Christmas dinner with one of my brothers afterward. (Definitely a blog in the making in that dinner)

We have a funeral Tuesday morning then preaching in Indiana Tuesday night.

We are preaching in Kentucky Wednesday and north Dayton Thursday.

We have Christmas dinner with Kelly Jo's family Saturday and my family Sunday. I am supposed to preach at home church Sunday morning and then our church starts revival Monday night.

We will attend Monday and possibly Tuesday of that and then head to Oklahoma to start our next revival.

Whew! It sure feels good to be getting back into the swing of things.

I received this in a text message a few days ago and knew that I had to pass it on...

Buckeyes

Thanks for the great response to my post on Texting and Driving. I have received more email and texts about that post that anything yet. I am a big softy. I cried through a big part of that clip. I think it will make a difference if folks pass it on. Kudos to AT&T and the families involved for making it available.

Now on to all things tasty....

My Mom and Dad with help from my niece Lauren and nephew Luke made Buckeyes today. They made 20 dozen Buckeyes today! I must tell you this, my Mother makes the absolute best Buckeyes in the known world. That is no joke and no exaggeration. They are the best... hands down! I am experienced at this. I am no rank amateur when it comes to Buckeyes. These are the best and there are many witnesses available!

Wow! Aren't they beautiful?

Twenty Dozen Buckeyes!

They saved the Granddaddy of all Buckeyes for me! I placed it on the top of my hand for scale. And it was as good as it was big!

I am telling you folks, she makes the best!

Texting and Driving

This is powerful. If you text and drive please, please, please watch this. If your friends, spouse, kids, grandkids, siblings or neighbors text and drive forward this link to them. Make them watch it. If you insist on texting and driving after watching this.... It's been nice knowing you....

These are real lives that have been disastrously touched by something that many of us have done. It could have been us. Do we really need a law to tell us that texting and driving is a bad idea. Maybe we do... but we shouldn't. Not after this...

Let me know what you think.....

Most Wonderful Times

Odie’s View
From The Back.”
I want to start by wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy 2012!  I love the excitement of this time of year!  I thank God daily for the gift of His son so many years ago!!
Shortly after my last letter we boarded a plane headed to Montana.  It was great to be  with Pastor Mike Metzger and our friends at Sun Valley church in Florence, Montana.  Their young people were hungry for a move of God, and God rewarded their hunger.  It was a revival we all enjoyed.  I am still feasting on the boost my faith received.
Not only were we in Montana for revival, but Dad had the privilege of marrying Bro. Nathan Jeffreys and Sis. Leah Metzger.  It was a privilege to be a part of the wedding!  God blessed the event with His presence.  Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Jefferys!!  We love you!!!
From Montana our wings took us to California.  It was hard to believe a year had passed since our last visit.  Amazing Grace Tabernacle was our first stop.  We had a grand time with Pastor Jared Burris.  The Lord definitely has His hand on their work in Atwater, California.  Only He knows what the future holds but I expect it to be awesome.
Our friends at Riverdale Assembly of God welcomed us with open arms again this year. Pastor Charles Spencer and the entire church know exactly how to make us feel at home. We had a powerful week there and wonderful fellowship too.
Pastor Anthony Munoz underwent his Stem Cell Transplant while we were in California.  Dad and Bro. Jared Burris drove to Stanford to see him the day before  the transplant.  God has brought Bro. Anthony so far!  His progress is a testimony to the Lord’s awesomeness!  Keep Bro. Anthony in your prayers.
We were blessed to be in his church for a service while in California. Even though the Pastor was in the hospital and we missed him and Sis. Rose, it was great to be with all their folks. They are very dear friends to us and we love them all very much.
Pastor Doug Spencer and family are doing a great work in Avenal, California.  It is always encouraging and fun to be in service with them. We really appreciate their kindness as well.
On to Arizona we journeyed.  Nine years now we have been going to Desert Cove Assembly in El Mirage.  It is always a blessing to our family to be with Pastor Jimmy Munoz and congregation.
On this flying trip west we were sadly without the BoggsMobile.  Thanks to the Meztger Family, Burris Family and the Pine family for housing us in their homes!  In Arizona thanks to the church for a great place to stay and Bro. Jorge Stevens for allowing us the use of his truck!  It was good to get back home to Ohio and to see the BoggsMobile again.
It was good to be with Pastor Randy Brown and the folks at Free Holiness Church of God in Sharonville, Ohio.  The revival there was great a way to bring us to Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving Day we spent in Hillsboro, Ohio with the Morgan crew.  It was a day of thankfulness and laughter.  We finished the day with a church service at our home church Dryden Road Pentecostal Church.
We have enjoyed being at Dryden Road and plan to be there several more services before we head out after Christmas.
Saturday after Thanksgiving we gathered with the Boggs clan.  It was a great family time.  I love both sides of our family.  We are blessed!
While in our home area we have been in several churches for Sunday and midweek services and have several more to visit in the next two weeks. We appreciate the churches in our home area that extend their love to our family.
In January we will begin our 10th year on the road.  God has brought us so far since 2003. We praise Him for all He is. There is no telling what God has in store for 2012.
I have been deer hunting a couple of days while home but no deer so far. I’m still looking though!
Well, I hear the engine starting so I better go ‘cause we’re On the Road Again

Five Guys Burgers and Fries

Speaking of food, this is about as good as it gets when it comes to eating a Cheeseburger at a chain restaurant. Now admittedly there are a lot of hamburger places I have not eaten in yet but be patient I am trying to get to them all as fast as I can...lol!

But when it comes to fast food chain restaurants that specialize in hamburgers I have just about tried them all... In fact I have tried them all a lot. I like to joke that I am personally responsible for a few million on the McDonald's sign. Believe me, it is barely and exaggeration...

I will say that Wendy's new and improved hamburgers are pretty good. They are much better than they were and you can have a Frosty to top it off. That's not bad at all.

In-N-Out which is all out west and slowly and carefully creeping east serves a very good burger. They always serve them hot and fresh and can move a crowd through in style. All of the other places could learn a thing or two from them in management. The employees are nice, the restaurants are clean, the food is hot and the over all experience is always good. Every time I have been there in several different cities it has always been great. Plus the owners are not ashamed of their Christianity and that is tremendous. I give them bonus points for that.

I really like the burgers at In-N-Out but I have to give the edge to Five Guys in my personal opinion. They are a little pricey but every thing is pricey now days. The fries are really good, the burgers are fresh with a little grease left in (Regular readers know how I feel about the necessity of grease!) and all of the toppings are free.

Now, I would not consider Ron's Hamburgers and Chili a big chain even though they have more than one location. Everybody in the world should have a chance at a Double Big Daddy. There is no way fast food can compete with that.  But for fast food chains Five Guys gets my vote.

A Double Cheeseburger with grilled onions, mushrooms, mayo, ketchup and mustard is a great way to start the day. If you haven't tried it, I encourage you to do so. If you have tried it, let me know what you think. You can click on the title of this blog for a link to locations.

Stay warm,

Davy
