This Week So Far

We worked on the house Monday with Kelly Jo's Dad and left Monday about 2:45 PM to go to Hodgenville, Kentucky. Their Homecoming revival is in progress this week and we were planning to be there Monday and Tuesday nights. We were hoping to miss the traffic in Cincinnati but we still lost about 35 minutes going through.

Cincinnati traffic has always been iffy. There are two major north/south interstates going through miles of city and right through downtown before converging to cross the Ohio River on the same bridge. The bridge has been needing major repair for years. This year they are redoing the bridge AND doing major construction on BOTH interstates.

Whose idea was that? I wonder if they still have a job?😉😉

We made it to HPC with barely enough time to get parked, hooked up, cleaned up and walk into church. The services were outstanding and the fellowship was priceless. We enjoyed being with Pastor Webb and all of the great folks at HPC. Bro. David Brimm and Bro. John Gabbard preached great oo.

We pulled out Tuesday night after church about 10:30. We had a smooth ride home with no traffic problems at all. We parked in the Dodds church parking lot about 1:45 and I was sleeping about 45 minutes later.

We parked at the church so it would be easier to load our sound equipment into the church Wednesday. I was at the house working when Dad came to let us in the church. KJ pulled the bus closer and the three of us carried and rolled in the equipment.

By the time we had the BoggsMobile parked in the barn, KJ's Dad was already painting in the house. He continued priming cabinets and we jumped in sanding, removing drawer fronts and hinges and labeling doors for the right cabinets.

Odie is sanding and Papaw Danny the great paint master is teaching!

Work was winding down about 3:00 so I went to the church to set up the sound equipment while KJ, Danny and Odie were finishing. Kelly Jo helped me with sound check and then it was time to get prepared for church.

Speaking of church, we had a great first night of revival. Praise God for His help. We are looking forward to two more great nights and a wonderful Homecoming service on Sunday. We will have lots of pictures of the revival later.

Thank you for dropping in to sit a spell.

Metamora Old Gospel Celebration - August 26, 2017

We traveled Monday evening and Tuesday after church. We arrived at the barn a few minutes ago. We will work on the house Wednesday and begin revival tonight at Dodds. Tomorrow I will have pictures and more from the last two nights.

Metamora Old Gospel Celebration - August 26, 2017

Bro. Jerry Rader is now pastoring the Haytown Hill Church near Matamora, Indiana and he called me recently about us taking part in a community outreach day in Metamora. I thought it over for about two seconds.

What is not to love? Metamora is a cool town, the church is trying to reach unchurched people and we could work it so that we were available.

Count us in!

Pastor Rader and his folks had to organize the event rather quickly but it has come together nicely. They are going to have food, activities for the children, food, singing, food and I will throw in some outreach preaching. You can never know how many folks will respond to an event like this but it should be a great day.

Here are some of the particulars taken from the flyer for the event.

Metamora Old Gospel Celebration
Saturday August 26th
2pm-8pm
Old Metamora School Yard
Metamora, Indiana
Sponsored by Haytown Hill Pentecostal Church of God
Pastor Jerry Rader
Featuring Ministry by the Boggs Family
Serving Food from 2pm-5pm
Pulled Pork, Hotdogs, Hamburgers, Chips, Drinks and Desserts
Bring your own lawn chairs

Yep, that sounds like a great day!

August 26th is the day after Dryden Rd. Fellowship Meeting ends. We will take the bus over to Metamora as early as possible and set up all of our City Reach sound equipment. We will try to do sound check at noon and have everything on our end ready to go in plenty of time.

There will be others singing and playing music while the food is being served and we will sing some during that time as well. Then we will ease into an outreach service and we will sing and go fishing for the precious souls of men.

Please consider coming to Metamora, Indiana that day and spending the day with us. I love that Pastor Rader and the Haytown Hill church are trying to reach their community and I would love to give them a big hand of support.

We will also stay over and sing and preach Sunday morning at Haytown Hill Church. That should make for a full and fun weekend.

Thank you for reading today.

Re-building A Church In Nigeria

We received an email from Bro. Shobanke a few days ago with disturbing news. One of his branch churches in Abeokuta had to be torn down recently because it was about to fall down. The church that had to be demolished is the church where the GoodNews Christian School is located.

Our first visit to this branch church was in 2009 and we have been back many times.

We visited the church and school last November and I noticed the walls were leaning out. There had been a church collapse a few days before in Nigeria with dozens of people killed so I was paying special attention to the buildings. I made a mental note and mentioned the building would need to be repaired or replaced soon.

I was concerned about the church folks, the school children and even the school buildings a few feet away. A sudden collapse would have had tragic results. Bro. Shobanke told me on the phone yesterday that the church was in such bad condition that it had to be taken down by machine quickly. Thank God it did not come down with people in it!

I believe the building was about 40'  x 80'. They are hoping to rebuild it about 30' x 50'. That will give them a little bit more room on their property to build more classroom space and 30' X 50' would be big enough for the current congregation in the church. This is a huge unexpected expense and they will need a miracle to do it.

We know that God works miracles and we fully expect it to be rebuilt soon. They are currently having services in one of the classrooms of the school. Please pray for my friends in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.
