A Recap of a Special Birthday!

Hey Friends,

This Is Odie checking in from the BoggsMobile. It feels good to be rolling again. This year is already off to an awesome start and I can not wait to see what the rest of 2016 holds. We already have so much to praise God for!

We are excited to be with Pastor Darius Templeton and the great people at Cedar Creek Holy Church of God for a few days. These are very special friends. We are scheduled to be there Sunday through Wednesday. If you are in the area, come visit us near Citronelle, Alabama. We would love to have you in revival.

Friday and Saturday we plan to be in Pine Prairie, Louisiana. We are thrilled for Pastor Barry Gautreaux and our friends at Christian Tabernacle. They have completed their new sanctuary and it is time to celebrate. We cannot wait to have church with them! They will have a youth rally Friday night and then the church dedication service is set for Saturday the 16th at 11:00AM. Dad and Pastor Russell McDonald will be preaching the dedication.

I was really happy to be able to attend a special birthday party last Sunday afternoon. I really enjoyed a memorable day with my family. January 3rd the youngest grandchild on the Boggs side of the family turned 13. I can not believe Lucas James Osborn is now a teenager. He will always be our baby. We love you, Bucko!

It is no secret that Boggs people love food and Luke fits right in with Boggs people. He loves good food and his birthday always includes lots of food. I usually miss out on the fun because are usually long gone by January 3rd. I was thrilled that this year I was able to enjoy the good Chinese food that Luke chose for his birthday dinner. It was good food and good fun.

I went to church with my grandparents at Dodds that morning. We had a wonderful service! Then dinner with most of the family was a great finish to my time at home.

I will close today's post with the fortune that was in my cookie at the birthday party. It cracked me up that, me the girl in the "wheelchair" randomly got this one.

So I guess I better run on.

My Favorite!

We have several pictures from our time at home and as I was going through them I noticed a reoccurring theme and that theme was

Salsa!

Some of these pictures from Acapulco were part of other posts but some of them have not been seen on here until today. One friend said, "You all go to Acapulco so often and have taken so many pictures, that you would not even have to bother to take pictures now. You could just use a stock photo." That is super funny but we do still enjoy taking pictures of our favorite little place at home.

People ask us, "Do you really like Acapulco that much?"

The simple answer is, Yes!

The longer answer is we absolutely love Mexican food and really could eat it every day. Now, just like everything else, Mexican restaurants in different cities and different regions have extremely different flavors and qualities. There are some we like much better than others.

We learned to love Mexican food in Oklahoma and we still really like the Mexican places there. We love Mexican food in Texas, Arizona and southern California. We have come to appreciate more authentic Mexican food in many of these states plus from walk up taquerias and taco trucks in several locations including Wichita, Kansas of all places.

We usually find something to like about nearly any place but we have historically been less enthusiastic about Mexican restaurants east of the Mississippi. Our experience many times over has taught us that although the eastern US Mexican places may have a good special dish or two, they do not ring our bell like some of the other states I mentioned.

All that changed when Pastor Bill Lamb and his wife Norma took us to Acapulco in Lebanon several years ago just months after they opened. The salsa had us from the first taste!

I need to tell you something else about me and salsa. Even though my favorite Mexican restaurants have been in Oklahoma, Texas and Arizona, I do not eat the salsa in a lot of them. When salsa tastes like pure tomato juice or chopped up tomatoes, I will pass on it every time. I love my salsa heavily flavored with onion and cilantro and Acapulco is perfect in my opinion!

Wow!

One more time for the audience, Wow!

What is not to love? Great food, fair prices and wonderful salsa! Yep, we really love it that much.

We have also been blessed to build real friendships with several of the employees. We have been asked to pray for several of them and God has opened doors to minister in their lives. We love that.

This year for Christmas we ordered a case of quality Gomez Bibles from Bro. Larry Landress and Holiness in Mexico and gave them to the employees. That was Kelly Jo's idea and it was tremendous. One brother told me he had been looking for a Spanish Bible in all the local stores and could not find one. He felt like it was God leading me to walk in and hand Him a Bible he could read. I tend to agree.

Over the next six months on the road, I will miss my friends at Acapulco. I will miss the chance to interact with them and pour into their lives the love of Christ. AND I will miss their salsa!

Here are a few more pictures to keep us inspired over the next few months. Thank you for reading.

Travel Day and Church

The BoggsMobile has left the building!

It was high time to hit the road so that is exactly what we did by 9:00 Wednesday morning.

Once I left the Lazy OD Ranch, I did not stop until I pulled into the rest area at the Kentucky/Tennessee state line. After a short stop, we zoomed over Jellico Mountain and we were crusing through Knoxville in a few minutes.

South of Knoxville we stopped at the Ryan's near Maryville and had a pretty good little snack.

The BoggsMobile has been there before. We parked right behind the Ryan's in the Walmart parking lot.

30 minutes later we were parked at East Tennessee Luxury Coach near Vonore. Once we were set up, I crashed for a few minutes and then we left for church about 6:00.

We had to stop about 1/2 mile from the church while a tow truck cleared an accident from the road. We walked in just after 7:30. It was great to be back at Beechfork with all of our friends.

We had a wonderful service and wonderful fellowship after church. I love Pastor Herman Woods, Sis. Margaret Woods and all the folks at Beechfork. They have been family and more to us for over 30 years. May God bless them for their kindness, hospitality and friendship.

Today is a bus day. We are among friends here too so it should be a good day. I will let you know how it goes.
