Haircuts, Mexican Food and Weather

Haircuts are expensive. Since I have been having my hair cut all one short length the last four summers it really bugged me to pay big bucks for the barber to shave it all off in 3-5 minutes. We finally broke down and bought a good set of clippers so Kelly Jo could try cutting my hair.

I ordered them while we were in Kansas and had them shipped home. The clippers were waiting for us when we arrived at my parent's home last week. Today was the first time we had a chance to try them out.

It only took Kelly Jo a few minutes and she was finished. I think she did pretty good! The clippers will pay for themselves in 4-5 haircuts. Hooray! Now I can buy more diesel!

This evening we met Pastor Meadow and Sis. Carolyn, Bro. Jimmy and Sis. Shauna Millikin, Bro. Terry and Sis. Christa Garner and their children at Los Aztecas for Mexican food. The food and fellowship were very good. This place has salsa that almost rivals Acapulco but not quite.

Some way I missed getting a picture of the Millikins but I am sure I will get some before we leave. We love being with these folks so much. They have been our dear friends for so many years.

Would you look at this weather forecast?

And that only tells half of the story. The humidity and heat index is supposed to be really bad this week as well. Because of that Pastor Meadow has decided to move the revival indoors this week. We have had tent revivals with it this hot before but it is really difficult to entice visitors under the tent in this kind of weather. A little Air Conditioning never hurt anybody!

We will still start revival Wednesday night and run through Sunday. We are believing God for a great move of His Spirit in these services. There are several in the church that need to be healed of cancer and I am sure there are various other serious needs as well. Would you pray that God will visit us with a divine move of His presence?

God bless you all.

Another Travel Day - Illinois to Oklahoma

Monday was another travel day. We left the Granite City, Illinois area this morning and arrived in Claremore, Oklahoma a little before 5:00 PM. KJ drove about 2 hours so the trip was a breeze.

A friend and cousin from home, Bennie Purkey, installed Cruise Control on the Green Machine back in June. It has been a blessing to have it on these long trips.

I think this is the very best way to take advantage of the new Cruise Control. I leaned way back in the passenger seat and let Kelly Jo use it! Lo!l Yep, it seems to work perfectly.

I know this is hard to believe but we drove right through Springfield, Missouri and we did not stop at Lambert's for lunch. Yes, it is incredible but it is true.

I think I ate so much last week at Campmeeting that I could not get excited about eating a big meal at Lambert's. I am sure there will be another day for catching throwed rolls and eating too much.

We pulled into Westside Holiness Church to a beautiful sight. Home Sweet Home! It is amazing how much we miss the bus when we are away from it!

I left the bus in good hands last week. Bro. Jimmy Millikin kept an eye on it for me and you can not get much better than that. He is one of the most dependable and thorough men I know. The BoggsMobile was in great shape.

It is very hot and pretty humid here in Claremore, Oklahoma. The forecast is for much more of the same this week and maybe a little hotter.

That is bound to affect tent revival some so we are praying about that. A few weeks ago the weather here was beautiful. God knows what he is doing. If it gets too hot and humid we are only a few steps from the air conditioned building!

Thanks for reading.

Travel Day and Bethel Chapel

Saturday Kelly Jo and Odie went to the Laundromat while I drove Dad's motorhome back to Waynesville. Mom had a big breakfast prepared so I "had" to eat biscuits and gravy again. It was so good that I forgot the pictures!

We visited with Mom and Dad for a while before hitting the road so it was pretty late when we started.  The 400 miles passed pretty quickly but it was still late at night when we arrived in the Granite City, Illinois area.

I think we all slept pretty good Saturday night. We love Campmeeting but it takes a few days to catch up on rest.

We had a great day with our friends at Bethel Chapel Sunday. Bro. and Sis. Brimm have been our friends for many years and we love coming to Granite City to see them and all their fine folks.

After a great service we capped the night with a visit to Steak n Shake with the Brimm's, the Dikeman's and Brenti Hrapeck. The food was great but the easy fellowship with wonderful friends was much better.

It really was a great day!

Monday we plan to finish our trip back to Claremore and the BoggsMobile. It will be nice to be "home" for a change.
