Speedy Freeze

I noticed signs like this at a few Speedway gas stations/convenient stores while we were home last week. I just had to snap a picture of this one as I was waiting at the light.

Which being interpreted is:

Price of Unleaded Gasoline - Ridiculous

Price of Diesel - Crazy Ridiculous

Price of a Speedy Freeze - Only .89 cents! At least we have one thing you can afford!

It is like they are conceding the fact that our gas and diesel prices will not attract you to our store but LOOK we have Speedy Freeze for less than a dollar. Well, it got my attention!

No spiritual application to go along with it. Sorry, I must have sludge in the brain.

We did have a great service last night in tent revival. Have I mentioned that these folks are hungry for God? They are seeking after God in the altars and God is blessing and helping them each night. Bro. Horton and Bro. Switzer are doing a great job running the services and I am just floundering around doing what I do most of the time. Praise God for His help.

It was quite a bit cooler outside last night but it was pretty nice inside the tent. I rolled the sides down in the afternoon and Bro. Switzer brought a couple of heaters. It was very comfortable with the heat going. In fact it was a little hot for me while I was preaching. Of course, I am going to sweat while preaching no matter how cool it is.

It is 70 right now so we should be able to keep most of the sides rolled up for service tonight. Thank you for praying for us in this meeting. God is answering your prayers.

First Night of Tent Revival in Bristol, Virginia

Yesterday was a great day in Bristol, Virginia. We had a very good service Sunday morning capped off with a wonderful time in the altar and then they recognized all of the Mothers that were present. This was the first Mother's Day in this pioneer work and we were honored to be here as a part of it. I did not preach a Mother's Day sermon since I was focusing on tent revival but it was a beautiful day.

Kelly Jo and I usually set up quite a bit early on the first night of tent revival just in case we have any sound or equipment issues. I hate to be dealing with a problem 10 minutes before service time. Everything set up quickly and without any problems and here it is ready to go.

It was a little on the cool side but the service was great. God moved in the song service, the preaching and especially in the altar service and prayer line. The wing was coming out of the west but we did not put the walls down because we were getting some sun from that direction too. The sun felt so good.

After the sun went behind the hills I rolled down one wall to block some of the wind. Odie acts like she is cold! She is holding her microphone through her jacket pocket.

It was a great first service. Pastor David Horton and his congregation have a hunger to see lives changed and God was doing that last night. It is a blessing to preach in such an environment. It is also a blessing to have Bro. Michael and Sis. Tonya Switzer in the revival too. They are working right along side Bro. and Sis. Horton in this church. It is an awesome team.

I am sure we will have more good news later in the week. God bless you all.

Happy Mother's Day!

Post from Saturday Morning.

Post from Friday afternoon.

Post from tent set up in Bristol, Virginia.

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers. May God bless you today with strength and health on the day set aside to honor you. If you are a mother that fears God and serves Him, then you are worthy of double honor. May God bless you abundantly in every area of your life.

Many ladies in our great country have stepped up to mother me through the years. They have fed me, clothed me and nurtured me spiritually too. They have prayed for me and carried many burdens for me. I am grateful to every one of them. But none of them could ever take the place of my dear mother, Martha Boggs.

I believe very strongly that one of the reasons I am saved and preaching today is because God heard the prayers of my mother. I doubt that she prayed that God would put me into the ministry and send me across the USA and even to other countries to preach and to sing. If she prayed for that, I did not hear it and she never told me. But she did pray that I would be a Christian. She wanted me to be genuinely saved and dedicated to God.

She prayed faithfully beside of my bed every night as I was growing up. I can not tell you the nights I went to sleep listening to her praying for me and for my brothers and for my sister. I did not think much of it then. But I realize the eternal value of it now. It was a tremendously blessing to have a mother willing to kneel and pray  fervently to God for me.

Praise God for a praying mother!

Thank you Mother Dear for praying for your children. Thank you especially for praying for me. God has heard your prayers and answered them far beyond your imagination and certainly beyond my imagination. Praise God that He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think. I love you Mother Dear. Have a very Happy Mother's Day.

Another important mother in my life is Betty Morgan, the mother of my Kelly Jo. Betty was saved along with my father in law in a tent revival about 40 years ago. That event changed the course of life of their oldest child and for me as well. I praise God for my mother in law too. Have a great day, Gran!

God bless you mothers.
