The Weekend Dispatch 5/7/24

I postponed our Weekend Dispatch to post the good news yesterday from Good News Christian school in Nigeria. If you were not able to join us yesterday I hope you will take a moment to check out that Mile Marker.

This year beginning in late March, our schedule included about 10 weeks in Virginia and West Virginia. This week would have been homecoming and revival for Pastor Brent Gabbard in Elkton, Virginia.

Unfortunately, all of that had to be postponed and we certainly hated to miss our time with our special friends in that part of the country. A few weeks ago, Bro. Gabbard asked if we would consider preaching Homecoming Sunday only.

Kelly and I were in the midst of deciding to limit our travel for the next couple of months to no more than 300 or 400 miles. This was at the outer limit of that, but within reason and we were happy to say yes.

So we made the trip, enjoyed wonderful services Sunday and loved every moment of the fellowship with our dear friends in Elkton and a few that were able to attend from the surrounding area.

We love brother Brent and sister Teresa Gabbard and all the folks at Bible Holiness. We are already looking forward to seeing them again.

We rolled into home Monday afternoon, tired but very happy. We snapped a few pictures to share with you and we hope you enjoy them. Thank you for joining us today.

A Beautiful Sight In Nigeria

I am telling you, friends, this is a beautiful sight!

I received some of these pictures by email on Sunday and a few more overnight going into Monday. I am so thrilled to see them and it makes me happy to share them with you today.

It takes time to process the money and they did not receive it until Friday. However they had already mobilized the workers and materials. They gathered together and completed the concrete decking on Saturday.

They mixed the concrete on site with a portable mixer and carried it to the second floor and poured it by hand. There was a whole lot of manual labor going on Saturday.

I have heard from Brother Shobanke and from Brother Samuel Bamidele, his son-in-law. They are both very thankful for the tremendous help toward completing this much needed additional building for the school.

Of course, there remains much more to do but this is a great mile marker in the process. I am  thankful for those of you that have helped us to help them. Praise God for each of you and the sacrifices you have made for the people of Abeokuta, especially the children in the school.

It is amazing what a few of us can do when we pool our resources for one common cause. May God bless you for joining with me and my burden for these precious people.

Thank you for dropping by today. I hope you have a wonderful week.

Meet Kolby Lee Yeager

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting on this Saturday. I hope you are well. Thanks for visiting with me today.

Yesterday, I talked to you about my cousins Kayla and Trever Morgan Yeager. They just celebrated their first anniversary in April.

Last fall, we received news that their family was expanding. I was thrilled for them. It is always exciting when a baby joins the family!

My baby cousins are special to me! I adopted them as my niece or nephew. I am a proud Auntie O.

Meet Kolby Lee Yeager

This year, on April 23rd, the doctor set the date for the baby's arrival. Kayla and Trever went to the hospital for the birth of a baby boy. As their family, we were anxious to have a new member added to our family. We waited and prayed hard for his safe arrival.

He had another idea. The baby decided it was not time for him to enter the world yet. He was being stubborn.😆 The boy had to prove me wrong. He wanted to come on his due date, but I had predicted April 23rd since last fall.

Kolby Lee Yeager arrived one week later. He was born on the evening of April 30th. Excitement was in the air of our Morgan family text chain all day.

We waited, not so patiently, for his birth and prayed hard! Thank God for answering all the prayers for Mama, Daddy and Kolby! He arrived safely! Kolby was worth the wait!

Congrats to Kayla and Trever on the birth of your handsome boy! We love your family of three! May God bless the next chapter in your life!

I can not wait to meet my newest baby cousin! He has already captured his place in Auntie O's heart with pictures like this one. They Facetimed me a couple nights ago. He is precious!

Check out his hair! I already love him so much. He brings smiles and joy to all of us!

Here are his birth stats: Kolby Lee Yeager was born on April 30th, 2024, weighing 8lbs 7.1 oz and measuring 19.5 in long.

I am glad to share the happy news with you. Kayla gave me permission to introduce my friends to Kolby! She also sent pictures so you could meet their bundle of joy.

I will close with one more picture from Kayla. I love this, Mama and baby!

One Year As Mr. and Mrs. Yeager

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting from my beach cottage in Waynesville, Ohio. It is excellent to have nice weather this week. I love warmth and sunshine.

Last week, one year ago, Mom and I came home to attend the wedding of Mom's niece and my cousin, Kayla. She married Trever Yeager on April 22nd 2023.

Mom and I were happy to attend their wedding. It was a special day! Here are a couple of flashback pictures for you.

Trever has been an excellent addition to the Morgan family. He has joined right in on our craziness.🤣 Trever, I really appreciate you! Thanks for making Kayla happy!

Below are two pictures from the last time I was with them. These were taken two days before their first anniversary.

A Short Update

I want to take a moment to give you a little update on my shingles saga. I have always said that I am allergic to pain and this has been another chance to prove that pain hurts me.

The pain from Thursday through Tuesday was almost more than I could bear and the peak was probably on Saturday. I know that several of you were praying for me and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that.

Wednesday the pain was constant pretty much all day long and if that’s the only pain I had experienced from shingles I would have concluded that shingles were extremely painful. However, it was not as bad as a previous six days and I am very thankful for that.

This morning the pain seems pretty much equal to Wednesday but may be a little less. I will know more as the day goes forward and as we prepare for the weekend.

I was not able to keep my scheduled appointment to preach this past Sunday, but I am hopeful to be more alive from this point forward. Thank you again for praying for us not only the last few days but the way that many of you have bombarded Heaven for us the last few months.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

A word for Wednesday

Good Morning! Thank you for joining us today. We are so happy to bring you A Word For Wednesday. A few moments ago I posted A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel. Please give it a listen and leave us a comment here or on YouTube.

Today I am quoting Mrs. Elizabeth Elliot.

You are loved with an everlasting love, that’s what the Bible says, and underneath are the everlasting arms.

Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, [saying], Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Deuteronomy 33:27 The eternal God [is thy] refuge, and underneath [are] the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy [them].

Thank you for reading and watching today.

You Want To See A Miracle?

Kelly and I spent most of the day on a Tuesday a few weeks ago at the hospital in Oak Ridge, Tennessee with brother Herman and sister Margaret Woods. We met them seven days after we married in 1985 and they have been mentors to us and just like parents.

Brother Herman has been in the hospital off and on most of this year and that day when we left after 9 o’clock in the evening, we was so sad to leave them. we prayed for them, hugged them and cried with our friends.

He was so sick, so weak and although we did not dare vocalizize it, there was a chance that we were seeing him for the last time.

But here is the rest of the story. By the following Sunday he went home. Seven days later on the next Sunday he went to church and testified. Later they went out to eat and this is the picture.

We are still believing for the touch of God to continue in his body  He still needs to gain weight and needs a lot of strength, but you are looking at a miracle, my dear friends. I am praising God for it! Hallelujah!

May God complete his work in all of our lives in the wonderful name of Jesus. Thank you for stopping in today.

A Weekend Interupted

Our weekend was interrupted by a case of Shingles on my upper body. They run from my sternum around to my back bone. Unfortunately they are only on the side of my body that is not affected by the numbness of the December stroke.

It seems my luck runs like that. 😇😜

Thankfully, they do not itch too bad but they burn like fire. It also feels like there is a little man inside trying to saw his way out. 🪚 I would kind of like to get him a little Sawzall so he can get done quicker😇

I have oscillated back-and-forth between unbelievable pain and incredible relief all weekend long. I am thankful for the times of relief. Hallelujah! 🙌🏽🙌🏽

Close friends and churches have been praying for me for several days and I would appreciate if you would join them in prayer. That would mean so much to us.

In the grand scheme of things in the world, this is a very small blip on the radar, but it is my mountain to climb at this moment and it seems insurmountable at times.

I sure need God’s help.

KJo had my brother-in-law and his brother carry my recliner from Odie‘s house upstairs to the study in my barn. I spent several hours up there in the recliner yesterday.

I was sitting at the small desk eating supper when I noticed a magnet in front of me.

Both the magnet and the 1967 Ohio license plate were given to me by my good friend, brother Galen Cummins. When I saw it yesterday, it was a message just for me. I needed it at that moment.

It is OK if you fall apart sometimes, tacos fall apart and we still LOVE them
Thank you for loving me friends. I have felt pretty useless this week, but I reckon it’s OK to fall apart a little bit. I do not have to be the whole Enchilada all the time. I can be like a taco, fall apart and I am still loved. 🌮🌮❤️❤️

I should have a word for Wednesday ready to go by the time I post this Monday, but if I am missing the next few days this week, you will know everything is OK.

Thank you for reading today.

Coming Wednesday
