The Weekend Dispatch 12/19/22

We missed posting a picture that should have went up on Friday. You need to see this one. This was from our lunch with Bro. EJ Lamb and his family.

Say hello to Stella and Hudson😍😁

Our weekend began with KJo and Odie getting to spend a little Christmas shopping time with Kelly's parents. It looks like a good time was had by all.

Then we made a spur of the moment trip to London, Kentucky to hear the Millikin Family sing and play some Christmas music.

We did not take as many pictures as we should have, but we had a wonderful time, visited with great friends and we were back home not long after midnight.

Saturday, our Christmas cards arrived so KJo and Odie spent the day stuffing envelopes and sticking on labels and stamps.

Sunday we were at Dryden Rd both services and enjoyed hearing our Pastor preach. It was outstanding.

That pretty much wraps up the weekend. We are now entering our last few days before we begin revivals again. We will be busy this week catching up with friends and family.

Thank you for dropping in.

Sunday Morning Sanity December 18, 2022

Sunday Morning Sanity
If the world could know this, if the world would know this, it would bring sanity into every  corner of every heart and in every life.

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Matthew 1:23

May God bless you with a great Sunday!

Sit Down Odie

Hey Friends,

This is Odie checking in with you. I am happy to be visiting with you for another Saturday post. I am glad to have Dad back on blog duty. He just has a great way with words. I enjoy his post immensely.

Anyone who knows me well will know I love to laugh! When I am asked how do I keep my smile? My answer is lots of prayer and laughter.

Laughter is a part of my daily medicine. It helps me get through the not so easy aspects of life. I refuse to focus on the bad parts of life! My attitude changes quickly when I focus on the funny aspects of life.

My parents taught me a valuable lesson years ago. If you laugh at other people's mishaps, you must laugh at yourself too. I have had many funny moments that I would love to forget, but they are unforgettable! Now I just shake my head, smile and laugh! You can find posts about a few of those moments here and here. I had a few good laughs as I re-read those stories!

I love to crack a good wheelchair joke. It comes as a shock to some people. I often say my parents always push me around and look down on me. One day a pastor looked at me in disbelief. He was trying to process what I had said. He asked me, "Did you just crack a wheelchair joke"?

Sit Down Odie
Papaw Danny Morgan is Mom's Dad. That is where Mom gets her crazy sense of humor from. The craziness runs in our family. We all have a list a mile long of funny moments.

Papaw is the king of them all We have loads of fun in our family telling Papaw's stories. I will keep most of them private. I will save him some embarrassment, LOL!

Today I have a story for you that features me and my Papaw, Danny. It is one of the newest ones on the list; it happened the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

We were at Sam's Club. It was time to get some ice cream. I was trying to pay for the purchase. Papaw would not let me pull up to the counter to pay. He blocked my access. Then he said, "Would you go sit down."

I immediately lost it in laughter! Papaw then realized he had just told his granddaughter "in a wheelchair" to sit down. The cashier probably thought we were certifiably crazy. We both laughed and laughed. I told Papaw, "Nobody tells me to sit down. They always tell me to stand up and walk".

I collected an unexpected memory that day at Sam's. This is a moment I will cherish for the rest of my life! I love my Papaw, and I am thrilled to share ice cream and laughter with him!

I hope this story helps you smile and laugh a little bit today. Do not forget to share a smile with someone else today. A simple gesture like a smile can brighten their day.

Thanks for reading.
Odie

A Few PIctures From The Week

It has been a wet and dreary week in Ohio, but not super cold. The super cold is coming next week and I am looking toward the south with longing. It is supposed to near zero in a few days. Ouch!

Tuesday we were scheduled to preach for Pastor Steven Allen and Faith Pentecostal Church in New Miami/Hamilton. We asked my parents to go with us and they did. It was so nice to have them along for the evening. We stopped and ate supper on the way at Frisch's on Rt. 4 north of Hamilton.

We really enjoyed the service at Faith Pentecostal Tuesday night. We love being there and look forward to every visit. Pastor Steven Allen always keeps the door wide open for us and we appreciate that. May God bless him and the church for their kindness.

Odie captured some pictures.

Wedndesday afternoon I took Kelly Jo for a nice Christmas meal, just the two of us. We were eating courtesy of a dear friend's kindness and we enjoyed every bite of it.😍

Thursday we met Pastor EJ Lamb and his family for lunch at Acapulco. We got used to meeting them for socially distanced lunches in 2020 and we have missed being with them. We had wonderful fellowship and a super great meal.

Thursday night we went to home church at Dryden Rd. Our Pastor preached a great Christmas sermon.

Thank you for stopping by today.

A Glance at December Details

Hello, friends. Thank you for spending a few minutes with us today. It is always good to have you along with us each day.

There are so many things going on in all of our lives this time of year. A Christmas gathering here, a Christmas play there and a Christmas dinner around the corner. It is almost hard to fit church into the schedule, but we still manage to work in 4-5 services each week.😍

We are going to try to post a Boggs Family Christmas service on YouTube Christmas day. I have been preaching a Christmas message in churches this month and I will probably preach that sermon and sing a few Christmas songs. We will be in church December 25, in addition to spending time with family, so we will try to post it in the morning around 8:00.

Once the Christmas hoopla has subsided, we will begin revival Monday, December 26 at Dryden Rd. Pentecostal Church. Services will begin Monday-Friday at 7:30 and Saturday, December 31 will probably begin around 8:00.

If you are in the Miami Valley/Tri-state area, we would love to have you join us in the revival any night. We would love to see your smiling face. Your presence will be a great encouragement to me personally.

In fact, if you are free that week and live outside the area, it would be great if you could come. The year-end revival is always a good revival at Dryden. We would love to have you.

There all kinds of hotels in the south Dayton area. The church address is 3201 Dryden Rd, Morain, OH.

When that revival concludes, we hope to begin in London, Kentucky at First Pentecostal January 1-6 and then move to points further south.

May God bless you all this week.

Bussing Along

I was reminded by a faithful reader recently that I had failed to bring you up-to-date on the bus repairs that were needed when we parked in Tennessee.

My laptop has been down for a few weeks and that throws me into a tailspin when it comes to blogging. It is difficult for me to blog from the phone and much easier to write and post from the computer.

Odie has continued to help me out since we have been home and I appreciate that. She may continue that for a while until I can get this computer back on its feet. Kelly and I worked on the laptop a few hours yesterday and made some progress, but we need professional help.

BoggsMobile
As you may remember, we have been having a problem with our power steering on the bus since September. Jeff Rowe ordered parts in September, hoping to have them in by the time we could get the bus to him in November.

Thankfully we were able to add fluid on a daily basis, sometimes a few times a day, and we made it there without completely losing power steering.

He had the parts and while we were gone he had his guys replace the proper parts and got the power steering working properly again.

On our way home, the power steering worked beautifully. I will need to check The level before we roll again, but we are so glad to have it working.

Jeff also performed some maintenance items on the bus while we were gone and completed other repairs. We are so glad to have him in our lives and we are thankful for him. We pray daily for God to bless him and his business.

In other bus news, the bus has two 12 volt water pumps for our fresh water system. The first few years of bus ownership I worked on these and the leaking water lines every winter.

Several years ago I put in two very good 12 volt pumps and had brother Jimmie Radcliffe put pex plumbing from them to the water intake.

We only need one pump and the other is a back up. One of them went out a while back, but it is the hardest one to replace so I let it go. Jeff Rowe replaced the second pump last spring.

After we arrived home a week ago, the non-working pump started leaking. Rather than remove everything to take it out, I disconnected the hoses and capped them Saturday with Kelly Jo's help.

I will replace it and replumb it in warmer surroundings   If we make it through December, will be fine.

I do not know if you can see this, but the water pump in question is behind the manifold and water lines in the picture below. I have had all of that out several times, but it is a major job.

The "easy" one is the one with red writing behind the lower water lines.

The capped water lines.

I am sure there will be more bus stuff in the future. Thank you for taking time to stop in today. We appreciate it.
