We will be having a short Christmas service this morning at 8:00 AM and it will be available to watch any time after that.

This was our view yesterday on our way to the Morgan Christmas.

Sunday Morning Sanity
Please do not get caught up in what the world tries to sell you this Christmas and miss what God wants to give you this Christmas.

The Night Before Christmas

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in for this Christmas Eve 2022 blog post. I hope you are having a fabulous holiday! I want to wish you a very Merry Christmas!

I am also pausing today to think and pray for many of our friends who may be having a rough Christmas! Please know that we love you and we are sending you virtual hugs!

We will be spending time today with my Mom's side of the family! I am anticipating lots of good food, fun and family time! Stay tuned to see the photo highlights in the coming days.

The Night Before Christmas

This is the day before Christmas in 2022. It is hard to believe Christmas is finally here again. We look forward to this time all year. It is honestly my favorite time of year.

The other day I was thinking of the first Christmas. The world changed when God gave the world the greatest gift of all time! That gift was His son Jesus Christ. He was born on the first Christmas Day.

My reflection caused me to think of the first Christmas Eve. Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem. They were forced to take shelter in a stable. It was not a suitable environment for a baby, but it was all according to God's plan.

I am always reminded of the outstanding character of Mary and Joseph. They were the people chosen by God to care for Jesus. They must have been extraordinary people. God knew He could trust them with His prized possession.

Mary and Joseph must have been terrified. They did not know the whole story, as you and I know it. They were faithful and followed the leading of God step by step. Mary and Joseph are excellent examples for us today.

I want to strive to live a life devoted to God. I want to follow His guidance. I pray that God finds me faithful and dependable when He needs me.

While I was pondering this topic, my brain remembered an old Christmas song. This song tells the story well of the First Christmas Eve. I decided to share it with you today. It is titled The Night Before Christmas,

The first time I heard this song was in the mid 90's. The Isaacs released it on their first Christmas project titled I Feel The Christmas Spirit. They also rereleased the song in 2000. It was on their revised Christmas Spirit project.

Take a moment to read the words and listen to this song. and reflect on The Night Before Christmas!

The Night Before Christmas

Verse 1

The night before Christmas

A couple was traveling

A baby was coming before the next day

They slept in the stable

With animals around them

The Messiah was born

In a lowly barn in a manger of hay

Chorus

The night before Christmas

The world had no Savior

No hope for redemption

To save them from wrong

God sent down His promise

The baby King Jesus

Salvation had come

For God gave His son

That Bethlehem morn

Verse 2

The night before Christmas

A new star was shining

Guiding three wise men from the east

In search of a king

It moved through the heavens

To the city of David

It shines today

To show us the way to Christ the King

Chorus

The night before Christmas

The world had no Savior

No hope for redemption

To save them from wrong

God sent down His promise

The baby King Jesus

Salvation had come

For God gave His son

That Bethlehem morn

Chorus

The night before Christmas

The world had no Savior

No hope for redemption

To save them from wrong

God sent down His promise

The baby King Jesus

Salvation had come

For God gave His son

That Bethlehem morn

Thanks for reading. May God bless you this Christmas!

A Few Pictures From The Week

We are planning to have a short Christmas service from Odie's house on Christmas morning about 8:00 AM Eastern. We would love for you to join us live or later!

It will be available to watch at any time after that, so please feel free to join later and to share it with others. We will sing a few Christmas songs and I will share a little Christmas homily. It should be fun.

The predicted winter storm arrived a bit earlier than forecast. It was supposed to be here overnight, but as we walked out of church Thursday night, the snow was falling. The temperatures we already in the 20s and the wind was whipping. Brrrr.

It is supposed to be -6 overnight and a high of 3 degrees today. Wow! What a change.

Odie captured a few pictures this week. I will give them to you below, along with some commentary.

My cousin Gerald and his wife, Debbie stopped by with Christmas for us.

My gift was frozen cabbage rolls from the sauerkraut festival in Waynesville the second week of October. That is really planning ahead. I failed to get pictures before I ate them, but suffice it to say I was very pleased with that Christmas present.

Odie had a special afternoon with two cousins, Stephanie and Lisa.

We were scheduled to preach at Anchor of Hope in Lebanon for Pastor EJ Lamb on Wednesday. It is always a joy to be with them and this visit was no exception. We enjoyed singing some Christmas songs and preaching.

Thursday night we were at Dryden Rd, our home church. We were blessed to hear Bro. JR Alexander preach and to get to sing with Sis. Teresa Alexander. They are now Pastoring in Mississippi and we miss getting to see them much when we are home.

As I said, today and tomorrow are going t obe exceptionally cold. We are planning to be out an about with family Saturday, but hopefully, we can stay inside today. We definitely have the heat turned up a little higher. Praise God for electricity and money to pay the bill. There have been times when both were in short supply.😍🙌

Thank you for stopping by today. Stay warm and have a super great Christmas.

Racing The Cold

Before we entered the deep freeze for a few days, we had an outdoor chore to complete. Friday or Saturday would have been the right timing but there is no sense working in 4° on Friday when I could work in 41° on Tuesday.

What is that chore? It is emptying the holding tanks, otherwise known as doing the work of the evangelist.

I do not have a receptacle for emptying the black holding tank inside the barn so after 20-21 days, we need to pull outside and take care of that task.

We are very rarely home that many days in a row, so it is really not that big of a problem.

It has been cold in the barn so I turned on the engine block heater for a few hours. The big Detroit fired right up like it should. That always brings a smile to my face.

I have a short length of rubber exhaust hose that I clamp onto the bus exhaust when I start the bus in the barn. It reaches out the big overhead door and about 3 feet away from the door. That helps us to prevent smoking up the barn.

KJo drove the bus in and out of the barn  and helped with the work too. I would say we were finished in about 30 minutes with no injuries and no frostbite.

We were praising God for sunshine along with 41°! By the time you read this we will be sliding into very cold temperatures. I will stay inside as much as possible.

Thank you for stopping by.

A Word For Wednesday, An Insignificant Christmas

It is time again for A Word For Wednesday. This morning, I am posting A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel. Please give it a listen and leave us a comment here or on YouTube.

The very first Christmas was an insignificant Christmas. A seemingly insignificant baby was born in an insignificant town to an insignificant couple. Most people had no idea how important they were.

Praise God for the baby born that day! Hallelujah!

Thank you for checking in.

Merry Christmas!!

Yesterday we mailed our Christmas card to everyone on our Newsletter list and to those that we have received Christmas cards from in the mail. Wow! That was a huge job. KJo and Odie worked on stuffing, stamping and labeling most of day Saturday.

You can see a PDF of the card here.

The PDF should be much clearer than this picture, but this will give you an idea.

I have been posting A Word For Wednesday the last two weeks with a Christmas message and I have one ready for tomorrow.

May God bless each of you this Christmas season. We appreciate each of you spending a few minutes with us every day.

The Weekend Dispatch 12/19/22

We missed posting a picture that should have went up on Friday. You need to see this one. This was from our lunch with Bro. EJ Lamb and his family.

Say hello to Stella and Hudson😍😁

Our weekend began with KJo and Odie getting to spend a little Christmas shopping time with Kelly's parents. It looks like a good time was had by all.

Then we made a spur of the moment trip to London, Kentucky to hear the Millikin Family sing and play some Christmas music.

We did not take as many pictures as we should have, but we had a wonderful time, visited with great friends and we were back home not long after midnight.

Saturday, our Christmas cards arrived so KJo and Odie spent the day stuffing envelopes and sticking on labels and stamps.

Sunday we were at Dryden Rd both services and enjoyed hearing our Pastor preach. It was outstanding.

That pretty much wraps up the weekend. We are now entering our last few days before we begin revivals again. We will be busy this week catching up with friends and family.

Thank you for dropping in.
