Will Work For Food!

We spent Monday evening with all of our Burris friends in Atwater, California. We had a wonderful meal and great fellowship in Bro. Cliff and Sis. Cindy's home. I am sure we will have pictures later. Being with them reminded me of some pictures I had of Bro. Jared and his family in Ohio a couple of months ago.

While we were home the latter part of December, I had a barn project going. Bro. Jared Burris from Atwater, California, (We affectionately call him California) was visiting Sis. Valerie's parents and he volunteered to jump in and help me. Wow! What an amazing help he was to me!

Sis. Valerie's parents live right down the road from us, so we are very close by. But I am sure Bro. Jared could have thought of a million other things to do. I am so thankful he spent three whole days with me. His son J.C helped one day and my brother Steve and my Dad helped a big bunch as well. May God bless them all.

We had some nice lunches down the road at Acapulco.

For all the hard work, Bro. Jared deserved more than Mexican food. Although a compelling case could be made for supreme value of really good salsa!

Man can not live by Salsa alone even though I have given it a good try.

So we ventured down to Rodizio for a terrific lunch one day. We had an awesome meal and great fellowship with our wonderful friends.

I am still indebted to Bro. Jared for all of his hard work but at least he was fed well! Thank you very much, my friend. I told my Dad that people would never believe I did all that work myself. Dad said, "I was there and even I don't believe it!" Lol

Thanks as well to my Dad and brother Steve for working hard too. My nephew Isaac worked for a few hours one day too and was a big help. Thanks to Steve and his wife Karen for helping us buy lots of materials. I could not have done it all right now without their help. May God bless you all!

#10 Weekend Woundup and Weview

I spent Thursday working on City Reach stuff and Kelly Jo and Odie were chauffeured around town by Sis. Carla Martinez for some retail therapy. It looks like they had fun!

Thursday evening the Martinez family treated us to a great Mexican meal and even better fellowship. We had a great evening with friends even though I was not feeling the best.

We love Pastor Martinez and his family AND all the Desert Cove folks but we needed to move on toward California. We planned to leave Friday morning but the allergies/cold/sickness that I had been running from since Sunday caught me with a vengeance Thursday night. I was up early Friday but I felt like mud. I finally decided to stay another day in El Mirage and do nothing but rest.

That is pretty much what I did all day long, absolutely nothing but rest. Kelly Jo and Odie went to hear Gordon Mote Friday night but I did nothing.

It turned out to be a smart decision because I felt much better by Saturday morning. We drove 355 miles Saturday and it was a beautiful drive. We never get tired of this scenery. We did have some heavy winds going through one area. Of course, we could see about 1000 wind mills so I guess wind is pretty normal there.

We did have a couple of hours of heavy traffic as we neared Los Angeles but we made it safely. We ended up in an RV Park right on the Anaheim and Orange line.

We jumped in the Green Machine a few minutes after arriving and went exploring. We are here to visit churches, meet people and find God given opportunities for a future City Reach. We drove about 100 miles Saturday around LA and then about 140 miles Sunday visiting two churches.

This is a glimpse of the city I am burdened for.

One of the churches we visited was outside of the LA central area near where we will be preaching next weekend. We have dear friends that know the Pastor and we wanted to get to know him. We enjoyed meeting Pastor Duke Downs and his folks in Chino Sunday night.

Today we plan to run up into central California for a few days and then we will be in Bloomington by Friday night by God's grace. Keep praying that we will walk softly before the Lord and be sensitive to His voice.

Thanks for reading.

View Out The Front Window March 6, 2016

Due to a combination of factors Odie's post yesterday published later than normal. It was a good post about her getting to see Gordon Mote Friday night. Check it out if you missed it!

Check out our posts from the last week at the links below.

We have had some gorgeous views out the window as we traveled this week from Gainesville, Texas to El Mirage, Arizona and then on to the Los Angeles, California area. We have seen some absolutely beautiful country!

This is our view from the front window in an RV Park in Anaheim, California when we arrived Saturday. A cramped RV park is not the most beautiful view but we were glad to get stopped for the day!

I hope you have a super great Sunday. Thank you for praying for us.

The Amazing Gordon Mote

Hey Friends,

This Odie checking in from a rolling BoggsMobile. Today we are traveling to California. This week we have covered many miles. These long trips are extremely taxing on Dad but he does an outstanding job getting us to our destination safely. We are thankful for the Lord's protection as we travel.

I have enjoyed getting to spend a few days in the Phoenix, Arizona area. This is beautiful place and one of our favorites. We will be back here for City Reach in less than 30 days. We would love to have all our friends join us for City Reach Phoenix-El Mirage, Arizona. Check out Dad's post yesterday for more information.

Regular readers know that our family loves the music and singing of Gordon Mote. If you are not familiar with the Gordon Mote, I encourage you to look him up online. He is an incredibly talented piano player and singer. Gordon has been blind since birth and he has played the piano since the age of three. He is one of the most sought after studio piano players in Nashville and he has won many awards.

I first saw Gordon in concert in spring of 2006. I was completely blown away by his talent. He  continues to inspired me to overcome the obstacles in my life.

In 2013 my cousins The Isaacs released the song "I Wanna Be There." We have wrote about the song a few times here on the blog.

Gordon Mote was the inspiration for the first verse and the second verse was written about me. I count it a honor to share the song with Gordon Mote. He is a hero of mine. I do believe one day here on earth or in Heaven, Gordon and I will receive our complete healings! I can not wait for that day.

Gordon traveled several years with the Gaither Homecoming Tour and we got to see him several times. I have not been able to see Gordon do a solo concert since he began traveling on his own again.

Last night Christian Life Fellowship in Phoenix had Gordon in concert. It worked out that Mom and I could attend the concert. I hate Dad was feeling under the weather and could not be with us! Pastor Fred and Sis Janice Behers welcomed us with open arms. It was great to meet them.

Wow is the word that best describes Gordon Mote's talent. It left me speechless and with a smile on my face!  It was a blast getting to enjoy this wonderful night with Mom next to me on the front seat.

Well thank you for reading! I will close with the pictures from last night.

City Reach Phoenix Area - El Mirage, Arizona

We were in service here at Desert Cove Assembly Wednesday night preaching about City Reach and spending time with Pastor Noah Martinez and all of his fine folks. We will be back here to begin City Reach on April 3 by God's grace.

The dates and the location have kind of been up in the air here but things are nailed down as much as possible now. They have been planning the meeting for an El Mirage city park all along. Some how the city scheduled another event for the location the first week of April so that left us with the second week. We were willing to shift to meet their schedule but we found out Tuesday evening that the park would not be available at all.

We were all a little disappointed, but I learned a long time ago that disappointments and delays can often be God's direction. There are people all over America praying that God will put us in the right place, at the right time, preaching the right message, to the right people! I have confidence that God is answering those prayers and working all of this out. I know I can trust God even when I can not figure out what He is doing!

There are other very good locations in El Mirage but we are pressed for time in obtaining the necessary permissions so Pastor Martinez and I decided that the lot next to the church would be the best location. Preparations will begin right away to have the lot ready for the tent and the big Blue and White Gospel tent will go up on Saturday April 2, 2016 if all goes as planned.

We will then begin revival on Sunday April 3rd and will have City Reach under the tent for two weeks closing on Friday April 15th. I am nervous but very excited about the possibilities of God working in lives right here! I can feel the enthusiasm building in my spirit just writing about it!

I appreciate all the prayers for City Reach. I want everyone to know that you are very welcome to come join us for any or all of the meetings but we would really love to have you attend this one in particular. I assure you that it would be a great joy to have you and that you would be a tremendous blessing to us and to this city!

It all begins in 30 days! Come be a part of revival in the Phoenix area!
