R. I. P. Hostess

Today is a sad day in our family. It is a sad day in America. Hostess is shutting its doors. The Twinkie is going over the rainbow to see Dorothy and Toto.

We will all miss the great food made by Hostess. Some of the labor force went out on strike and the Hostess company which is already in bankruptcy is closing. Over 18000 people are losing their jobs due to the company closing. it is a sad day indeed for them.

Mom and I made a big Walmart trip tonight for supplies. While there I decided to pick up a few of our favorite Hostess foods.

The Hostess shelves were already pretty empty. The boxes of Twinkies were already gone. I did find the individual packs. At least I will be able to taste one last Twinkie.

Thinking of Twinkies brings back a funny family memory. We were traveling one day when I was about 11 years old.

We stopped in Kentucky at a familiar gas station for fuel and snacks. When we stopped I was asleep in our 1978 Monte Carlo. It just happened to be customer appreciation day and they were having a big celebration and giving away food.

I woke up while my parents were out of the car. I remember sitting up in a daze trying to figure out where in the world I was. I could not see my parents, but they could see me the whole time.

While I was still half asleep a person in a GIANT Twinkie costume saw me. The giant Twinkie decided I was a customer that needed to be appreciated and headed my way with a Twinkie.

Keep in mind that mom and dad are watching the whole thing!

This Giant Twinkie came over to my car and tried to open the door. I am in the middle of waking up and a Giant Twinkie trying to get me! You talk about a bad dream! Let's just say it scared me almost to death. When Dad and Mom returned I was still pretty shaken. I was thankful my parents always lock their doors.

Mom and Dad were about to die laughing when they came back to the car. They still laugh about the day I was almost almost eaten by a Giant Twinkie.

I am sure my kids will one day hear the story from my family. But it so sad they may never get to taste the sweetness of a Twinkie.

Hope this gives you something to laugh about today.

Dad said maybe somebody will buy the brand and the Twinkie will survive. Let's hope so.

Revival in Pictures - Gainesville, Texas

We finished revival at House of Prayer in Gainesville, Texas Wednesday night. We had a wonderful time in the Lord and great fellowship too.

We had good participation from the home folks, bunches of visitors from other churches and a young man gloriously saved on Monday. Praise God.

I sure appreciate the hospitality and friendship from Pastor Dennis King and the fine folks at House of Prayer. We love coming here and I love preaching here.

I will let the pictures do the talking.

Prayer Request For Nigeria
 Odie’s View
From The Back.

Happy Fall Y’all! This time around I am going to donate some of my space to my Dad. He is going to write about their upcoming trip to Nigeria.
I do hope you will pray for their trip. I want Dad and Mom to win many souls and enjoy their time with our Nigerian friends. I also want them to come home safely to me.
I will be in good hands while they are gone. I will be splitting my time between Mom’s parents and Dad’s parents.
I hope to be able to do some deer hunting with the Morgan side of the family. You might pray that I will be a deer slayer this year and not just a deer hunter!
This might be our last Newsletter of the year so I better wish you a Merry Christmas. May God bless you and your family with a blessed Thanksgiving, a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
Well, I hear the engine starting so I better go ‘cause we’re On the Road Again.

Note From Davy:

Thanks Odie for the nice introduction and for allowing me to use some of your space.
As Odie said, Kelly Jo and I will be leaving soon for another evangelistic trip to Nigeria, West Africa. We leave on November 28.
We are excited about seeing our brothers and sisters again in Nigeria and telling others about Christ as well. It is always a joy to preach the Gospel.
I asked Bro. Shobanke to send the tentative schedule of services while we are in Nigeria. I really felt like having folks pray over these services.
I sent the list to some close friends and a few churches by email and received a great response from churches and individuals promising to pray.
Several people suggested sending the list out in the Newsletter or posting it on the blog and that is what I have decided to do.
I know that God is going to help in these meetings. He always does. But I feel like I need brothers and sisters to bind together with us to believe God for a special outpouring of His Spirit on every life.
Let’s believe God to brake the chains of sin, heal the sick, set the captives free, encourage the saints and empower the ministry in a lasting demonstration of His power.
As of now we have 13 services scheduled. I would like for you to choose one of the services and pray for that particular service.
Would you do that? Would you pray that God would cause us to be effective? Would you pray that God would prepare hearts in Nigeria to receive the help of God? Would your pray that God would put everything in order for His will to be accomplished? Would you pray that I would be sensitive to His Spirit?
Here is the list of services.
