Vintage View Vednesday Jonesboro 2009

Today we have a Vintage View post from a revival for Pastor Geoff Bond at Jonesboro, Illinois. I think these are from 2009. Our first revival or two at Jonesboro we had our truck and trailer and I noticed in these pictures we had the BoggsMobile.

I see that the bus has air conditioners on top of it and I believe I had them put on that week in Nashville. I went down after church one night and picked it up and drove back to Jonesboro.

These are life long friends in these pictures below and we love them much. It is great to see their smiling faces again.

I hope you enjoy this Vintage View Vednesday.

A Short Mission Report

A Short Mission Report
On the 50th night of our online revival, I suggested we do something together to commemorate 50 nights of revival.

I suggested we try to help four ministries that were struggling to feed their church members and others during the pandemic shutdown. I named three missionaries that had been actively watching or listening to the revival and that I knew could use some assistance, plus Bro. Shobanke and his people in Nigeria.

I also wrote about it on here and listed their contact information. I will post that information at the bottom of this post.

I have no idea how much finance was sent directly to the missionaries, but we had some money sent to us that we forwarded along with our own offerings for them. We sent $2160 in total the next week, divided and distributed exactly as we were asked to do. I posted a follow up here.

Since then we have had more finance come into our hands for each of these missionaries to help to feed people. We sent every penny of it to each of the missionaries as designated. Three of them received $550 each and we were able to send $1000 for food to Bro. Shobanke and the saints in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.

That is $4810 we were able to forward to mission efforts to feed people in foreign nations. I only mentioned it that one time during our 50th online revival service and posted about it here. $4810! Hallelujah!

Thank you for helping us feed people that were hungry because their economies were shut down and they were not able to work. It is still bad in some countries and I am not sure we have seen the end of the economic effects here, but we are praising God for His provision.

May God bless you for blessing others. I suspect that some gave in spite of their own lack in some areas and I know that God is witness to it. While many of us were out of work in our conventional work, we were able to join together to help others with nearly $5000 for food. Praise God!

Bro. Shobanke had someone send pictures to me of the food distribution last week from the $1000 we were able to send recently. I love these pictures and I praise God for every dollar you helped us to send.

I have a feeling that some of you will like these pictures as much as I do.

They purchased staples including rice, beans, flour and more in large sacks to be as prudent as possible in spending the money. However, some of these large sacks have doubled in price since the pandemic began.

We are praising God for His help and we are thankful to you for your help.

Thank you for joining us today.

What's Up, Weekend? 6/22/2020

Friday we finished the drive home from Missouri, arriving at the Lazy OD Ranch at 4:30 PM after about 370 miles. It felt great to be home, but we did not have time to bask in the feeling.

By 6:30 we were cleaned up, dressed up and ready to have church at Odie's house. We had agreed a few weeks ago to participate in a Zoom church service with Pastor Johnson George, Sis. Binu and the International Assembly of God in Warren, Michigan.

We love these fine saints of God and we were thrilled to worship with them and minister to them. We had never used Zoom, but Pastor Johnson George walked us through it and soon we were on the way.

The Zoom meeting was also attended by some Pastors and others in India, even though it was very early on Saturday morning there. Pastor Benny Moses from India said that I was able to minister to them in India without getting on a plane and without the requirement of obtaining a Visa to visit them.😁

Needless to say, we enjoyed the service very much! We have already received an invitation to minister directly on a Zoom call with a ministry group in India soon. We are excited to be a part of that.

I think we could have slept in Saturday morning, but the rental car needed to be returned by 9:00 AM.

That was completed with no problems and we went about our normal day. I had some weeds to spray, but most of my day was spent in sermon preparation and KJo went to see her Dad and Mom before Father's Day.

Sunday morning I attended several online services and at 1:00 PM I walked to Odie's. She was providing most of the food and KJo was doing most of the cooking for my Father's Day lunch. It was a super tremendous meal!

Thank you very much, Odie and KJo! I love you both!

Sunday evening we drove to West Harrison, Indiana to sing and preach for our friends at the Pentecostal Tabernacle and Pastor Wade Hicks. We appreciated the invitation and we enjoyed being with them very much.

We drove home and arrived at the Ranch by 9:00. It was still daylight! I love long summer days. Today they begin getting shorter, but I will hold on to the long days as long as I can.

That wraps up our weekend. Thank you for stopping by today.

You Taught Me - Happy Father's Day 6/21/2020

Our schedule is very fluid with the world turned upsidedown as it is. We have added two dates on our way to Texas next week. We will be with Pastor Alan Harris at Central City, Kentucky Tuesday night and High Point in Paducah, Kentucky with Pastor Doug Stevens on Wednesday night. Here is our calendar. Come be with us!

You Taught Me
Happy Father's Day to all the Fathers. May God bless you for the good examples that you are to your children. The greatest thing you could ever do for your children is to point them to the heavenly Father.

I wrote this many years ago in honor of my Dad, Eugene Boggs. It was published in 2001 in my little book, "When I Fall, Can I Get Up" but has been out of print for several years.  It has become a Father's Day tradition to post it here. I hope you enjoy it.

You have my permission to print or post poem as long as it is used in its entirety, not for profit and proper credit is given.

If you are reading this, Dad, you are still my hero.  God bless you and I love you.

You Taught Me

Dad, you bought me a bike when I was three and taught me how to ride.
You pushed a while and then let go, I thought you were beside.
You said I picked it up real quick and said I went fast too.
Dad, my only dream when I was young was to go half as fast as you.

You taught me how to bat and how to throw a ball.
While others came to play the game, You said “son, give it your all”.
I loved it Dad when the crowd would scream, “hit it out of here”.
But, Dad, I hit that ball with all my might just to hear you cheer.

You taught me how to swim and dive.  We had so much fun.
You’d bury me up to my neck in the sand and bake me in the sun.
You’d throw us in and jump in too, we’d scream and splash and shout.
When the sun went down and we had to go home, you had to nearly pull us out.

Playing football in the fall, I’d run and push and fight.
I’d work all week and kill myself to play on Friday night.
Every game I’d push the limit trying to do my best.
You were standing at the thirty-yard line, I wanted to pass your test.

You taught me how to work, Dad, although I didn’t like it then.
You taught me the value of a hard days work, when to save and when to spend.
You taught me to respect other people and how to put others first.
To say sir and mam, please and thank-you, to see people at their best and not their worst.

There’s one thing you’ve taught me often, Dad, that I’ve been slow to learn.
“Take care of the name I’ve given you son, It’s something I’ve had to earn.”
There’s been several times, through the years, when my head’s hung in shame.
When I’ve drug the name you’ve given me through the mud. I know it’s caused you pain.

But you’ve been faithful to me, through the good times and the bad.
When you should have left me in defeat, You’ve been there for me Dad.
You were there to pick up the pieces, though I lost when I should have won.
The greatest thing you’ve taught me Dad is how deeply you love your son.

The bats and balls and other things have faded in the past.
I’m trying to trade these temporal things for something that will last.
I’m sure I’ve got a lot to learn.  I’ve only just begun.
But the greatest thing you’ve taught me, Papa, is how deeply The Father Loves His sons.

Have a super great day, friends.

Father's Day 2020

Hey Friends,

This is Odie, checking in with you. I hope that you are well today! It is great to meet you here again.

We have made it to another weekend, but this is a very special weekend in the United States. According to my research, other countries choose a different day for their Father's Day. Here we celebrate our Father's on the third Sunday of June. This year that day comes on, June 21. Happy Father's Day 2020!

Happy Father's Day, Daddy
I am thankful for my Dad! He is definitely the best Father! I can not precisely express my love and appreciation for my Dad. He does so much to make my life wonderful! I do not take the blessing of having an awesome Father lightly.

Dad, "I love you more than a hog loves slop!" You have taught me that is a lot of love. All of my life you have shown me that kind of love and support! Thank you for being my real-life superhero! I appreciate you more than you can ever know!

The Love of God, Our Father

Let me remind you that you are loved by your Heavenly Father! He cares for you. His arms are open and God is waiting to show you what true love feels like. There is no better place to experience life, than in the arms of God! I am thankful for His love!

He is a Father that will never leave us. He is always there for each person in this word. We all get the privilege to talk to Him anytime. There is never a need to send a text, leave a voicemail or get a busy signal. We can all have the undivided attention of our Father.

Have you truly experienced the greatness of a relationship with God? If you do not know the life changing results of knowing God's love, then I encourage you to talk to Him today. He is the greatest Father that we can have in our lives!

I want to say a prayer for you right now. I am carrying a burden for you and I feel the nudge to pray. When I can not give the answers to my family and friends about life's issue, I have learned to pray. At that moment, when words fail me, the presence of God can heal a heart.

Dear God,
Thank you for giving us today. I thank you for every reader of this post. I know that all of us are special to you. Thanks for creating us and giving us a purpose to live. God, I thank you for your unfailing love for us. You have given us mercy and grace when we did not deserve it. Thank you for always being there with us.

God, today I am praying for my precious friends. Life has hurt some of us. I do not possess the words to fix their problems. A hug from Daddy can go a long way to heal a wound. Many of my friends can not get a hug from their earthly Father. Please wrap your arms around them this very moment! I want my friends to know the power of your love!

I know you are hearing my prayers today. Thank you for hugging all of us right now. Thank you for the privilege of being your child! I love you and worship you for your power. I humbled by your greatness. Thank you that I can talk to you anytime. Thank you for answering this prayer right now! I ask it all in the name of Jesus.
Amen

Friend, you are loved! God loves you with an everlasting love. We love you! Thanks for reading as I shared my heart.

Odie
