Away to Wichita, Kansas

We had a wonderful weekend in Kansas and Oklahoma. In order to have that great weekend we had to get from Ohio out here. The circle we are on now began with plans to help Steve and Karen with their move to Wichita. They rented a truck and loaded it up Tuesday evening and Wednesday.

They brought the truck to the Lazy OD Ranch Wednesday evening for us to load our things. I made sure the tires had proper pressure and we were ready to go bright and early Thursday morning when Steve and Karen arrived.

The first day we drove about 500 miles to Columbia, Missouri and then stopped for the night. It was a perfect first day of driving. The truck ran fine and so did the cars that Steve and Karen were driving. The weather was perfect for traveling too. We had a good night's rest in Columbia.

Friday we only had 320 miles to finish the trip to Wichita. It was another beautiful day to travel, the traffic was light and by 2:30 we were pulling into Bethany Revival Center in Wichita, Kansas.

By 6:00 PM there was a great group of folks from Bethany present to help unload the truck. Plus Bro. Bruce and Sis. Priscilla Mayhan drove up from Oklahoma to help as well. It was wonderful to have all of the help. About 2.5 hours later, the truck was empty.

This sign was on the wall!

And a beautiful welcome gift.

We stayed overnight with Steve and Karen Friday night and then Steve took me to pick up the rental car so we could drive to Oklahoma and ultimately home.

May God bless Steve and Karen as they work in ministry under Pastor John DiZazzo and the leadership team at Bethany Revival Center.

Thank you for joining us today.

What's Up, Weekend? 6/15/2020

Some of the events this weekend deserve their own post, but I will give you an overview of our super weekend. It was busy, fun, included lots of church, time with special friends and a little travel like all wonderful weekends.

First, Odie gave me some pictures and details from her weekend.

From Odie: Skyline time for lunch on Friday. I had a driveway picnic with Lisa

Mamaw and Papaw stopped by for a visit. Happy 57th wedding anniversary to them.

Friday and Saturday I spent time in the recording studio, virtually. The Isaacs were streaming their recording process live on YouTube.

Saturday evening Mamaw came over for a visit on the porch.

Sunday Church on Mixlr with Dryden Road.

Sunday afternoon I had a Driveway Picnic with Mamaw, Papaw and Lisa. We enjoyed Alcapulco!

Thank you for all of that Odie.

Friday we finished our trip to Wichita. I will tell you more about that evening another day this week.

Saturday we picked up our rental car and drove to Oklahoma City. We were there to attend a retirement celebration for Pastor Rickey Searcy. It was a great afternoon and evening.

Saturday night and Sunday night we stayed in Moore, Oklahoma so we could be at both services Sunday at Crosslight Chapel in Moore. We love being with Pastor Lendell Birdsong, Sis. Cyndi Birdsong and their wonderful congregation.

Normally Crosslight buses in a few dozen people to the services, but due to the pandemic, they are not allowed to bus people to church yet without restrictions. I love preaching there and even without the men and women they normally bring in, we had a wonderful crowd and even better services.

We loved every moment of it.

God has blessed crosslight abundantly and they really need more room. We are praying with them for God's provision and direction. They are reaching people for Christ. They are reaching people that are on the streets, halfway houses and jails.

I know that God blesses and helps churches that focus on ministering to people that are commonly overlooked or even cast aside. I believe God is going to continue to help and bless them.

Even though Odie was not with us, we did manage to get some pictures yesterday. I think Odie will be proud of us.😀

That wraps up the weekend. Thank you for joining us on Mile Markers.

View Out The Front Window 6/14/20

We had a change of view a few times this week, but I neglected to get enough pictures. We were in Columbia, Missouri Thursday night, Wichita, Kansas Friday night and Moore, Oklahoma last night.

To make up for my deficiency here are a couple of substitutions.

Thursday morning before we left for Kansas.

At a rest area somewhere along the way.

And finally our view out the window at a hotel in Moore, Oklahoma.

Thank you for joining us today. Have a great Sunday.

What Happened?

We were traveling Saturday morning, but Odie had prepared a post. I thought I had it scheduled to post, but evidently, I did not do something properly. So sorry.

See you tomorrow.

The Week In Review

Most of this week was spent getting ready to leave yesterday. I will tell you more about that in a moment, but a man's got to eat, right?

We had another great lunch with Pastor EJ Lamb and his family. Wow! What great food and what wonderful fellowship with friends!

We have been staying busy having church in the Beach Cottage Chapel. This week we recorded two services for an upcoming camp meeting that has been moved to online only. It was great to be having church in Odie's living room again.

The camp meeting folks will add congregational singing, testimonies and special singing. It will be posted online later in the summer.

My sister Theresa and Baby Lauren stopped to see Odie Tuesday.

I had mowed last Saturday but I needed to mow again before we left so it would not be 18 inches tall when we get home. I had to sneak the mowing in Wednesday morning between showers, but the mower cooperated and so did the sun! Yay!

I found a slithering creature while mowing the ditch in front. This is how he was when I saw him the first time. When I came back by, his head was up and he was looking to bite. He will not bite anyone. I dispatched him quickly. He does not look like that now.

We also did the work of the evangelist and moved the BoggsMobile into the barn and pulled the tent trailer next to the barn.

Watch Kelly Jo go!

AND I had a few tacos along the way, of course!

I will tell you about our trip at a later point, but Thursday went completely according to plan and I am very thankful for that. We will finish the final 300 miles today by God's grace.

Thank you for dropping by Mile Markers today.

Early Start, Short Note

We hope to be on the road by 6:00 AM so not much time for a long Mile Marker today. The Uhaul truck is loaded, the grass is mowed, the moat is filled, the hungry alligators are swimming and the massive rottweilers are roaming the perimeter.

Steve and Karen have cars so we are caravaning to Wichita. We hope to drive about 500 miles to Columbia, Missouri today and then finish the final 300 miles on Friday.

There are various things that could throw a wrench in our plans in the span of 800 miles, but we are anticipating the Lord smoothing the way for us. We appreciate you praying for us. May God bless you in advance!

Thank you for stopping in.
