Mr. and Mrs. Ben and Deidre Shoemaker

Hey Friends,

This is Odie checking in from the soon to be rolling BoggsMobile. We are West Plains, Missouri bound. I am looking forward to a fantastic week with Pastor Dwain Galiher and our friends at Junction Hill Pentecostal Church.

This week has been filled with wedding preparation for my cousin Deidre Boggs. It is unbelievable that my baby cousin/sister is now married. I have dreamed and prayed with Deidre about this day for along time and now it is a day in history. It was a privilege to be by her side to see it unfold.

Deidre was blessed to find Ben. I am so thankful God brought them together. Deidre and Ben tied the knot last night. They are now Mr. and Mrs. Shoemaker. I am thrilled for them. We are excited to officially welcome Ben into our family. They were blessed with a beautiful wedding and a fabulous day.

Below are several pictures. I hope you enjoy a glimpse into the weekend. First here are a few pictures I snapped during the day and at the rehearsal dinner. Thank you to the Shoemaker family for a delicious feast from City Barbecue.

Wedding Day Fun

The rest of the pictures are pre and post wedding.

Everything turned out fabulous. It was great to see so family and friends. Now I am exhausted and I plan to sleep all the way to Missouri.

Thanks for reading. Have a fantastic weekend.

Very Special Visitors!

Thursday was another big day working on the house, plus I had to be at the wedding rehearsal next door at 6:00. It was busy and we seemed to get quite a bit accomplished surprisingly.

But the best part of the day was a visit from dear friends. Bro. Kevin and Sis. Teresa Webster have been preaching a revival in Dayton and closed last night. They were on their way out of town and stopped to see the house and visit! We love these people and we were thrilled to see them.

We have loved Bro. Kevin and Sis. Teresa for many, many years and we have tons of good memories with them. They spent time in our house in Ohio back in the 90's during revivals, preached revivals for us in Wichita and we have preached several revivals in their home church.

We have also attended each other's revivals across the country and we have enjoyed a number of good campmeetings together. They are always the same where ever we see them. We do not talk every day and sometimes we go months between face to face visits, but it is like we have never spent a day apart when we are together. I love that about them.

They are both super musicians and some of the friendliest people we have ever been around. It seems we do not get to see them near enough the last few years and we appreciate them taking time to stop in.

Did I mention they came right at lunch time? Oh yes they did! We loaded up in the Green Machine and pointed it for Acapulco. I did not even ask them what they wanted to eat and did not think of it until we were walking in the door.😇 It is a good thing they like Mexican food and are gracious people!

Thank God for good friends and my God bless them for thinking of us and giving a couple of hours to us yesterday! I was a blessing to us!

Thank you for reading.

Pockets And Pendants

Yesterday I promised an update on what I have been doing on the house and a few pictures. Today I deliver both of those things to you.

The house has three 36" pocket doors, four 42" pocket doors, a 36" closet door, a 48" set of double closet doors and three 36" exterior doors. All of the pocket doors have split jams and that was new for me. I have never messed with pocket doors at all until this house so it was all a learning experience for me.

I had hung all the pocket doors before we left last time. I have now installed all the split jams, regular jams on the door knob side and trimmed all the doors too.

Here is a picture in the hallway. There are 42" pocket doors into the bedrooms and a 36" pocket door to the hall bathroom.

Odie is going for a beach cottage style so really simple trim is the order of the day. All the trim is primed 1x4 and will eventually be bright white like the doors.

Kelly Jo prepared street tacos for lunch and we ate them in the house. Wow! Wow! Wow! Plus we had leftover salsa from Acapulco! Wow again!

Dad installed two of the pendant lights in the kitchen. Kelly Jo and Odie chose real well on these lights. They are beautiful and match the grand scheme perfectly. They are also super light.

She has one over the regular height sink centered in the window.

And one that will be centered over her small dining table.

She will have three more over the island. We hope to hang them this week too.

Now back to more doors. This is the pocket door between the kitchen and the utility room.

The coat closet.

This is a 36" pocket door that separates her bedroom and her roll in closet.

Open the pocket door and this is what you find, a reinforced metal safe room door.

I also started trimming the window sills and various other things as well. Today we continue.

Thanks for reading.

A Tale of Two Houses

Today was a working on the house day. Kelly Jo helped me for several hours, Dad and Mom stopped by and my brother Steve helped a few hours in the afternoon. It was a pretty productive day but it was slow starting since my material and tools were put away.

I will have pictures and description of Tuesday's work later in the week but I do have a couple of pictures from the house for you today.

These pictures show what was waiting for us when we went in the house Monday night.

Dad installed all of the plugs and switches in the house the last few days! Even though the panel is not energized yet, having plugs and switches is a huge step toward having power at Odie's fingertips!

Speaking of power, everything is ready and we are waiting on Duke Energy to fire things up. Dad and my cousin Gary mounted the meter base and that finished up the electrical ditch we dug a few weeks ago.

That was then.

This is now!

Duke said it could take up to three weeks to run the wire and hook it up and that is OK. We are really not in a big hurry but having power hooked up is a big step.

Another House

Kelly Jo, Odie and my parents went down to see Kelly's Dad and Mom and the new house they are building. They are really making progress and yesterday evening was probably the only opportunity for any of us to see it while we are home this week. It really looks awesome!

They are beginning the roof today!

We love their beautiful property and we are excited to see the house begin to take shape!

The rest of the week will be consumed with working on the house and preparing for my niece's wedding. Deidre is a "little" excited and we are "kind of" excited for her and Ben. She is getting married right next door so about the only thing I have to do is show up. Should be easy peasy, at least for me.

Thanks for reading today.
